Sometimes the second time around is even better than the first…Cort Bellamy’s been avoiding his hometown of Crossroads, Georgia for too long. Who can blame him, when the small town is so thick with memories and everyone recalls that he let the love of his life slip away? However, his father’s summons for help on the family ranch can’t go unanswered much longer—and now he’s offering Cort a … offering Cort a share. Returning to hard work is expected…but he never thought he’d see HER again.
Joss Ellis hates returning to her hometown with her tail tucked, a failure in everyone’s eyes. Her aspirations of making a place for herself in the big city have left her defeated and more than a little depressed. But the minute she sees her rugged ex, her emotions take a detour to hot and bothered. It’s impossible not to run into each other. Even the secret fishing hole is a reminder of whispers and promises that never came true.
She’s the same beauty with a big heart that he can’t keep his hands off. He’s sexier and more untamed than ever. To bring them even closer, they’re fighting similar battles in life. While Cort’s determined to show her that happiness is right here in Crossroads, Joss isn’t convinced. All she’s certain of is that sleeping with her ex is a really bad idea…and she definitely won’t fall for him this time around.

A good start to a new series. Cort and Joss coming to Crossroads, both the town and the direction their lives had been going. Ever since Joss left Cort all those years ago, maybe it was needed, neither now had to wonder if the grass was greener on the other side. They still have their own, just as ever, green grass together, complete with pond, old splinter inducing dock, and feelings that have only grown and matured. Each believing and supporting the other where nothing is impossible and all things are better together.
The sex was blazing, the cowboys hot, and the girls sassy. Thimble, the kitty, brought in the aww factor, along with Cort’s insight because he never stopped loving that girl who left, but came back the woman who still loved him too.

Love a second chance romance, what a wonderful start to a new series.
Cort and Joss were high school sweethearts, both going their separate ways. Her to follow her dreams and he to escape the pain of losing her. Circumstances bring them back to their small town, nowhere to hide and avoid each other. Is the chemistry still there? He’s busy proving himself to his dad and she’s lost, wondering how to keep her career. It was an entertaining story, wonderful characters and a heart warming romance. I loved it.
Okay, so I’m giving anything of the plot away, however, I’ve read a lot of romance western books and this one is not only hot but interesting. The primary characters are passionate and entertaining with lots of drama and heat. A story worth reading.

A new author to me/. The blurb got my attention but,I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I found the story quite compelling as well as funny with witty banter. This is a second chance romance and the first book in the author’s new series, Crossroads. The story felt real life, the characters believable with off the charts chemistry and the secondary characters are terrific. I look forward to reading book 2.

Em Petrova weaves a sweet and sexy romance for Cort and Joss. After their breakup when they were young, and going in different directions, Cort and Joss both return to Crossroads Georgia. However, not everything has changed. Their love for each other is still there, only now it has matured. But is it enough to hold them together this time? A heartwarming western romance that will bring a smile to the reader, **I was gifted “Bad In Boots” via Booksprout and leave my review based on my reading.** This is mine. 4.5 Stars!
An absolutely fantastic, well written, well developed, well described, funny, witty, emotionally deep, engaging, and relatable second chance book one in the Crossroads series. The characters are real and believable with off the charts chemistry between them; the secondary characters are amazing and add more enjoyment to this captivating read. Coming back to Crossroads with some big decisions to make
Bad in Boots is the first book in the Crossroads series and is a smoking hot and sexy story to kick off what looks to be a fun new series. The backdrop of the series is about Crossroads, Georgia, a small town with a lot of interesting characters. This story is about Cort Bellamy and Joss Ellis. Both grew up in Crossroads and were high school sweethearts. But they each left town and went separate ways. Now they find themselves returning for different reasons but all the same they are both also at a crossroads in their life. Maybe they have a second chance at a love that they both still feel? But does a future mean staying in Crossroads or leaving together?
This book is a well written and a great read. The story-line is fun, emotional, passionate, romantic, serious and of course has some smoking hot chemistry going on. A very enjoyable read to light up your Kindle late into the wee hours of the morning!
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Excellent second chance to get it right story!
I loved both Cort and Joss immensely! Normally, I tend to lean more towards one lead than the other, but I seriously love these two on equal footing! They are both so real and relatable to me. They didn’t try and deny their attraction but also didn’t sweep under the rug the reason they didn’t work in the past. I felt that if I knew them, I’d be friends with them! They also each had their own personal struggle trying to figure out who they were (for lack of a better term) today or should be as opposed to who they thought they would be. All this intertwined so beautifully in the story that I couldn’t stop reading once I started! I wanted to read what they would do as if they were my friends! I was invested!
I’ve now read enough stories in several different tropes by this author that I am confident she will be one of my go-to authors in the future. She’s very good at character development and plot unfolding and her stories are ones that I find myself riveted and captivated by from beginning to end!

Wonderfully fantastic… The book was amazing… It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it… The characters and their personalities match them perfectly… The plot and the storyline was very descriptive and amazing…
A second chance romance. High school sweethearts who ended up going on different paths and one who went to a different part of the country and one went to a neighbouring county. Both come home at the same time and they try to avoid each other but the poll of their attraction is still there. They both need to get their personal problems sorted before they can work on them as a couple . A great start to a new series.. Who doesnt love a sexy cowboy. I loved the characters and the story wasn’t too shabby either. Looking forward to the next installment.

Second Chance 4 stars – This story is easy to read and entertaining. Cort and Jossie belong together. Glad that they got their second chance and this time, they are both mature enough to handle priorities and life and still stay in a relationship. I like that the author didn’t include angst that are common in romance books that have characters in their twenties. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
The first book in the Crossroads series a well written second chance story, that kept me turning pages. Joss Ellis and Cort Bellamy’s story that I enjoyed seeing come together. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Neither Cort nor Joss want to return to their home town however both are heading back not realizing the other also which is going to lead to sparks flying. It was a great surprise to both that their feelings for each other had never dwindle while being apart, however their own self confidence about any thing else is slim. This isn’t just a second chance at love but also that when you find the right one life can become an amazing and everything else doesn’t seem that bad along with family and friends being an important part of a great life. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series especially as it’s about Cort’s cousin Kaoz who intrigued me from the snippets about him in this book.

Cort and Joss both manage to show up back home at the same time, after several years. Theirs is a great second chance story that is well written. They each have a fully developed backstory with unique pieces that set the book apart from others. The small town setting is quaint and fun. They each grow while being back home under less than desirable circumstances. It is easy to fall in love with Cort with his easy manner, poetic words of live and his hard work ethic. I look forward to a book for Jada.

At a Crossroads.
What happens when ex’s Cort and Joss are back in Crossroads at the same time?
The boots are coming off, that’s what.
Cort blewbit the first time around.
Does that stop Joss from hopping back in bed with the bad boy? Nope.
But they are at their own Crossroads for the future.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy.
I LOVED this book. It is smokin’ HOT! The plot was beautifully done. The scenes were played out like a movie. I could almost picture being there and feeling with the characters. There were some really great scenes here. I really felt for these two.
Cort Bellamy left Crossroads, GA and was working at different jobs. The latest one was construction with an @$$ for a boss. Cort quits and on his way home, he receives a call from his father. His father needs help on the ranch. He needs Cort to come home! Cort doesn’t want to go home. He and his father don’t see eye to eye. Plus Crossroads is a small town and it holds too many reminders of high school sweetheart, Joss Ellis. Joss also is coming home after her failure in the fashion world. She left Crossroads with hopes of becoming a famous fashion designer. After long hours, low pay and high pressure she also quits to return home.
When this two meet again, fireworks fly! Feelings are still there after all of these years but will they be able to work through their differences? Will small town life fit the dreams? Do dreams die or can new dreams be made?
This is a spicy read. I adored the second chance at a first love. The dual POV is wonderful to see into the characters’ thoughts. To understand their actions and speech during the scenes. This is a wonderful beginning to the series and I can’t wait for more! I highly recommend this to anyone over the age of 18.
The second chance romance, great storyline. I really like this one.
The book is written with humour, have a lot of emotions, a lot of love and intense heat.
Once I started it, I did not want to put it down, it’s a page turner.
Highly recommend it.

Joss and Cort both have had it rough and end up back home. Their romance ended when she left to follow her dreams, but the sparks kick right back up when they see one another again. Through all the trials they go through, they come out on top and together every time. I cannot wait to see what’s next, and to learn more about Jada’s mystery man.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book shows us that sometimes you have to stray from where you are at to find your way back home. Cort and Joss had a lot of love between them but at a young age they did not know what to do with it. Years after they moved away from Crossroads, they are reunited. They both learn fast that true love does not die, fade away or burn out. It just smolders until the mind can catch up with the heart, then the embers come to life again. This was an emotional story with great characters. The storyline pulled you in and keeps you reading. You will not be disappointed with this book
