Repeat after me: stay away from the hot girl. The beautiful girl. The f**king ray of sunshine in the middle of your delivery route. Layla Barros is everything I never knew I wanted. Everything I’ll never have. She’s an innocent young student. I’m a convicted felon. She’s rich girl from a nice family. I’m from a broken home.I’m no addict, but she’s my drug. I can’t stay away, even though I know … drug. I can’t stay away, even though I know I’ll ruin her in the end.
She might be the girl of my dreams, but I was always a bad idea.

What two wonderful characters, Nico and Layla. I haven’t felt so invested in a couple for quite some time. So frustratingly bittersweet, their romance. I couldn’t put this book down. Can’t wait to read the next one. I’m dying to know what happens next.
I really enjoyed this book, great cliff hanger and will be reading The Lost Ones.
Oh what a good summer read. Nick and Kayla, hot, sexy with just the right amount of realism. Could not wait to continue reading their story!
An attention grabbing read, the pages practically turned themselves. I love Layla and Nico’s story. Their characters were easily relatable and I was quickly drawn in to their world. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.
“The energy I feel with this girl in every other place is like the way the air feels right before a thunderstorm. Sparks everywhere.”
Bad Idea was my first book by Nicole French and it really took my by surprise. It’s a story so full of deep and honest love, loss and letting go, it broke my heart several times.
“All that electricity that’s been building for the last two weeks finally sparked, and now it’s full-fledged fire.”
The story progression is pretty slow, but this way we get to know Nico and Layla with the same intensity and pace they get to know each other. I fell hard for both of them for all the same reasons they fell for each other.
“One breath, and it’s like I’ve never had oxygen. One look at your blue eyes, and water never existed. Fuck, Layla, I don’t just want you. I need you.”
Even though I think Nico is quite selfish in many situations and I hate him for that, he does so many things right. The way he takes care of her, the way he makes her feel and sways her of her feet and steady her the same time. Nicole did a great job transferring the mixed feelings of the want to follow your dreams and true love. I hate that Nico made decisions that broke Layla’s heart more than once, but at the same time I understood why he did it. And I totally could see and feel, why he could never let her actually go.
“…when you love someone, really love them and need them, to live without them is to live without water or air.”
Layla is a strong heroine. You might not see it right away and she might not see it herself, but falling in love with Nico changed her and made her even stronger than she already was. The way she believes in Nico is simply wonderful and stunning. The most selfless decision Layla made was letting him go even though it broke her almost beyond repair. She saw something in him and would never let him sacrifice his dreams and the possibility of finding himself not even for her true love she felt for him.
“She might be the best thing that ever happened to me, but I was always a bad idea.”
Bad Idea is a very emotional read full of angst and great chemistry. It will tear you apart with its cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more. This story, about Nico and Layla who are from different sides of the tracks with completely different upbringings is pretty captivating and goes straight to your heart.
This trilogy is an intense read of two people who are soulmates. Their love evolves to a beautiful relationship. Nico and Layla love for each other will capture your hearts as they find themselves together. The author’s research on this story is so good you will not put the book down. So worth the read.
Love and heart break happened between Layla and Nico. They are learning and growing thru their life in the fast pace New York City. Nico met young layla by chance. She is young rich and vibrant. He doesnt have a chance but he sure try to pull all stops to get this young lady.
Let me start off by saying that this series is THE series that brought Nicole French’s amazing stories into my life. I became obsessed with Nico and Layla and the struggle and love that they fought and then succumbed to. The passion was off the charts and who wouldn’t fall a little head over heels for the delivery guy wanna be firefighter and his sassy girl who in the second book loses herself but Nico is their to bring her back. This is not your typical fairytale but it is raw and powerful and above all else it is brutal and loving and shows that life can be a struggle but it is so worth it.
Wow this was the first book that I’ve read from Nicole French, The story starts out fast pace and moving and slows down a little but it is a hard book to put down once you start reading. This book will have your emotions all over the place. You will be mad one minute then laughing or crying. Get ready for a ride of emotions and you will love this book. This is a fantastic read that tells POV for each other during the story.
5 AMAZING, ANGSTY, HEART-EYED STARS!
I’m a long time fan of Nicole French’s work and have been an avid reader of the Spitfire, Quicksilver and most recent Rose Gold series, but had never read Nico and Layla’s breathtaking story…until now.
Holy smokes! This trilogy definitely meets and exceeds the very high expectations I had after reading her other (later) works. I finished the books 2 days ago and am still thinking about Nico and Layla’s journey. Their journey wasn’t easy, was so real and relatable, and has really stuck with me.
The bonus book, a novella about supporting characters KC (Nico’s best friend) and Shama (Layla’s best friend) is amazing as well – so much so that I’d love to see these two have their own trilogy!
If you’re a fan of love conquering all, smart characters, alpha heroes and fierce heroines, with a dash of amazing family and fiesty friends thrown in, grab this box set and dive in! You won’t regret it.
Wow! This collection has it all!! All the passion the angst and the love! I so loved this series that I re-read book 2!!! Awesome job
Bad Idea
My heart be still and my emotions are all over the place! The story of Nico and Layla will tear at your emotions and rip out your soul. There are no true words to say how incredible this story of forbidden love is. These two belong together, yet so much pulls them apart. I am in such awe of this author that she has made me fall in love with these characters. Nico is not your typical alpha, he has a good heart, is kind, is gentle, yet does have a dark side to him. And Layla is such a sweet, caring person you just want to wrap your arms around her and give her a great big hug. But can they truly be in a relationship with so many outside influences preventing them? Read this book to find out! I truly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read the next book in this fantastic series!
Nicole French has an amazing ability to make you love and hate her characters. She makes you fall in love with them, the rips you apart, only to see you back together.
Nico – he’s never had anything come easily to him. He’s always been just scraping by in life, sometimes making the wrong decisions. He loves his family fiercely, and when he meets Layla he realizes he can love someone else even more.
Layla – She’s attending NYU, but not fully following her emotionally distant father’s wishes. She’s been raised to always do what’s right and what’s expected of her. She starts a new job, and meets Nico. Once she succumbs to his charm, she knows she’ll never be the same.
This trilogy follows their story, heartbreak, traumas and everything in between shows just how much loving someone can heal you inside and out.
I am so excited about the start of this trilogy! I am a huge fan of Nicole French and I love everything she writes so I was so stoked to start on this book about Nico and Layla!
Nico is s such a sweet guy, takes care of everyone in his family and that grows to include Layla. He forgoes his dream of moving to LA to stay with her! That is how important she is to him!
Layla falls for Nico like a lead balloon. Their cute meet is so sweet and makes me look at every FedEx truck in a different way. I guess I’m looking for Nico behind the wheel. He is just as entranced by her as she is by him and neither can muster words around each other. And their first date on Valentine’s Day *sigh* and their first kiss in the snow are moments I will not easily forget, as neither will they. But their time has an expiration date and Layla was enough in love to realize it. Maybe more than I would have been able to do. I’m not sure. I just know I will be diving into the 2nd book, Lost Ones, as soon as I finish posting this Five Star Review!
I love the angsty, crazy, over the top plots Nicole comes up with. I fell in love with Nicole’s style with her Quicksilver trilogy and she has yet to disappoint! Bad Idea was a sexy and angsty fun read.
Nico was from the wrong side of the tracks. Layla was almost too good to be true. He knew he was no good for her but the universe had other plans. Would being from completely different worlds bring them together or tear them apart?
Oh my…Nicole and her cliff hangers!!! Glad I did not have to wait for the next one!! (I binged this series!!)
I listened to the audiobook of this novel. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! I could not stop listening! I absolutely loved these characters! Even when I was cursing them, I secretly loved them! Sometimes I wanted to give them a kick in the butt but this is so well written and timing is great! I immediately had to rush to get Book 2 of the series!!
You know a book is good when you read it quickly and the characters won’t leave you along when you’re done. Nicole writes such strong characters and sucks you in with their emotional storylines. I’m already anxious for the sequel The Lost Ones. Wish some of the small inconsistencies were cleaned up though.
Holy book hangover here I come.
Nico is the ultimate BBF honestly he is the one I never realized I wanted to read about. <3
I love a hero that is scratching his way though the world because that is exactly what most of us are doing day to day.
Layla is not your typical rich girl and she is forgiving her way through the world.
I loved this book so much and honestly when it ended I was in tears and that takes a lot for me to actually cry but this book broke me a bit.
Coulldn’t get into it. Read two chapters and stopped.
…and I actually paid for the next books!! That tells you enough
