BRIARI was infatuated with Asher Kelley the moment he came tumbling through my brother’s window five years ago. Even bruised and bloodied, he was the most beautiful boy I’d ever seen. We couldn’t ever be together.I was too young, and he was too untouchable. He was too troubled, and I was too naive. But the heart is rebellious, and mine decided it didn’t care about any of those things. As I got … of those things.
As I got older, harmless flirting turned to stolen moments in dark corners.
Until one day, he was gone without a trace.
Now, three years later, he’s back.
Callous and cruel.
He’s my brother’s best friend. My parents’ worst nightmare.
I should hate him.
But like a Bad Habit, I can’t quit him.
ASHER
I was drawn to Briar Vale from the first time she looked up at me with stars in her big, blue eyes.
She was just a kid, nothing but elbows and knees, but she was the most beautiful creature I’d ever seen.
We could never be together.
I was too old and she was too off limits.
She was too good and I was too fucked up.
Eventually, the temptation became too much to resist.
I risked everything for a kiss and she betrayed me.
Three years have passed and I’m forced to see her again, but now she’s all grown up.
She’s my best friend’s baby sister. My downfall.
I hate her for what she did.
But she’s always been my drug of choice

I wanted to love Bad Habit but I couldn’t. I just kept waiting for something to happen. I know I am in minority, but while I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate either. Charleigh Rose has already written one of the best books around for me. So maybe I am biased now. Anyhow, I am going to read Bad Intentions next.
This is such a good story! It was so easy for me to become addicted to it!
I fell in love with the characters within the first few pages. Asher and Briar made me swoon from the beginning. The chemistry between them is downright sexy. These two took me on an emotional ride, one I was really excited about.
Asher is captivating. Most of the time all I wanted to was reach out and give him a hug, even when he was acting like a complete jerk. And Briar? She is really special. Sweet, kind and caring. I love how, when needed, she puts herself first even though it breaks her heart to do so. I love than even through all the anger and resentment Asher and Briar can’t help but fall into each other’s arms over and over. I experienced every emotion these two felt.
This book has it all! Amazing characters, first love butterflies, jealousy, passion and lust, and some really heartwarming and touching moments.
Hot, addictive and emotional.
Asher is a habit I don’t want to break!
Asher & Briar are a dream mix of high school angst, miscommunication, drama, and undeniable love and chemistry/heat. I felt that all the supporting characters also played well together and helped build a complete story. Because Asher and Briar share the same group of friends it leads to tense situations along with comic relief right when your heart needs it most. I thought that Asher is a great bad boy, all angry with his heart so obviously there for Briar to command. It was a quick enjoyable second chance slightly forbidden romance read for me. I had already met Dare from Bad Intentions (Bad Love Book 2) so it was interesting to see how the stories intersect as standalones in the same series. Highly recommend.
I absolutely could NOT put this book down! Everyone can relate to a story about crushing on the older guy friend, which makes this story that much more real. The chemistry between Briar and Ash was ridiculously hot! This was my first experience reading Charleigh Rose and I can honestly say that I cannot wait to see what comes next!
Actual Rating 3.70
I have some serious mixed feelings about this book. There were things I really like and enjoyed most of the story, but at the same time there were times when the story felt slow and slowly dwindled for me. I liked both Briar and Asher. The circumstances of their love is very complicated because Briar has always been a minor with Asher being five years older than her and Briar being the little sister of his best friend. Yet, the connection they share is strong and Briar’s feelings for him have been strong and unwavering. She always protects Asher when people think he’s trash or is nothing but a bad seed. She was always there for him when he needed someone. Asher is troubled without a doubt. He’s holding a grudge against Briar that’s built for three years, but even still he can’t help how much he wants her and knowing that he shouldn’t. I loved their undeniable attraction despite how wrong it was.
At the same time as I’m reading about how Briar feels for Asher sometimes it was hard to really feel that love and emotion. There were times when the story kinda dragged in some areas for me. The whole hospital scene irked my nerves.
Bad Habit was an ok book for the most part and will be a really good read for most. I do like Charleigh Rose’s writing. This one grabbed my interest, it just couldn’t completely keep my interest. I will probably read the next book in the series though because I do like all the other characters in this book.
Oh this book! Asher the bad boy…and Briar the younger sister of his best friend. I was in love with these two from the first scene when Asher comes crashing in through the window. Their connection – young love – angst – history – loyalty – passion – UGH I could go on and on. They drew me in and I didn’t want to let go! Add in Dash, Briar’s brother, and Natalie – her best friend; and it’s a perfect combination of laughing, crying, and swooning. Well done Charleigh Rose!!
Oh Charleigh girl… What have You done to me ???
Maybe I should start different… maybe it should be more literary language but I simply can’t…. Charleigh totally shaked my world with Bad Habbit. I read her before and I knew she’s amazing in her work. Till page no 1 I knew that she’ll be on my #MustReadAuthorList.
I loved absolutely everything in this book. Asher and Briar will stay in my heart forever. Chemistry between this two could burn to ashes. The plot is amazing. Without ending I was sure that I need to be prepared for book HANGOVER.
Briar… this girl for sure is the tough one. She’s soft outside, but inside she know exactly how to deal with life, specially when bad moments want to steal from her everything.. Briar’s BIG brother definetly is rather from this very naughty ones… and what comes with that ??? More boys around Briar, this… bad ones. ..
For sure – future daughter’s fathers would hide their girls because of boys like Asher
BUT
After reading Bad Habbit every future daughter’s mothers will be dreaming about so caring and loving young man for their girls like Asher ….
Now it doesn’t matter what I’ll say or write… there’s no words worth to describe how amazing book Bad Habbit is.
Every Romance Lovers !!! This book is definetly worth Your time.
I want Asher to be my Bad Habit!!!!
The story of Briar and Asher is an emotional one and nearly ripped my heart out. I loved every single word and page of this absolutely incredible book. At the age of fourteen Briar had a crush on Asher and Asher definitely had feelings for her, but he knew he was too old to act on those feelings. He tried to behave but one evening things got a little out of control and they kissed. She knew Asher had a full scholarship to a college in another state and asked him to please say goodbye before he leaves not to just leave. He says of course he’ll say goodbye, then he leaves her house. Then for three long years she doesn’t see him or hear from him. When he does come back he is not the same guy he was when he disappeared on her. There is still so many feelings and so much chemistry between them that it’s hard to stay apart. With all the lies, misunderstandings and secrets, this is just a matter of time before things combust once again. Grab this book to find out if Briar and Asher can get past everything and get their HEA.
This book was amazing, I devoured it!! It had all my favorite tropes – brother’s best friend, enemies-to-lovers and of course second chance! Asher Kelley, the sexy bad boy who yeah, was an a hole but I loved him a lot! I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to give up that bad habit! Briar, l loved her. She was sweet, sassy and caring! The chemistry and sexual tension between Asher and Briar was scorching! They had some of the hottest sex scenes! I loved them together! I loved all the secondary characters, Dash, Adrian and Nat. I am hoping they will getting their own stories!! This is a must read!
Bad Habit by Charleigh Rose is the First book in the new “Bad Love” series. This is the story of Briar and Ash.
This starts with Briar around the age of 14 who her brother’s friend, Ash comes into his room sometimes to escape his father’s abuse. When her brother is not there Briar step forward to clean him up and tried to talk to him. They bonded but it wasn’t enough to keep Ash from running when he felt that he wasn’t good enough. Now a few years later they meet again and it seems he is hot and cold with her. But love always comes through to win.
Really enjoyed this book.
You know it’s a great book when you stay up til 3am to finish it. No way could I go to sleep until I got my answers.
I loved absolutely everything about this story. Briar is a unique combination of naive, brave and mature beyond her years. Ash is HAF, damaged and totally off limits. Together they are explosive.
“You wanted to play big girl games, Briar. Now, I’m going to treat you like a big girl.”
I loved the chemistry, the genuine friendships, the heartbreak and the delicious teenage angst portrayed in this book. The author captured that feeling of first love perfectly and my chest ached for Briar.
“Why does it feel like we’re saying hello and goodbye all at the same time?”
Such a fantastic read and cannot wait more words from this author. Definitely recommend.
I really liked this book even the secondary characters peaked my interest (hope they get a story some day). The story kept my attention and had it read in no time.
I have no idea how I will EVER get over this book! Re-reading it will definitely become my Bad Habit!!
Bad Habit
Briar and Ash had all these almost moments, which could have turned into so much. I guess it is all about the damn timing. Years has passed between the two and both of them have changed. You can tell by Asher’s demeanor that he was the one who changed the most.
I’m glad the author gave Asher’s pov. If not I would just as clueless as Briar in some ways. For the longest time though, I was still clueless on why Asher was acting so cold. I knew he had feelings for Briar. Even if he was fool and didn’t see it right off.
What I loved most about the story is when Briar and Ash started opening some lines of communication. When their feelings started to grow, so did the communication. Oh my god… When things come to ahead in the book, there was a definite wtf moment. I knew it couldn’t be all smooth sailing but the author threw me for a loop.
My heart went out Asher… He just couldn’t catch a break. One thing kept happening after another. I kept reading… I was praying and hoping Briar and Asher can make it back to one another. Who knew if it could happen? How it might occur?
Damn… The epilogue gave me all the feels. I can’t say this enough. You need to pick up this book and start with chapter one. It will lead to a bad habit that you don’t want to quit.
Absolutely FLOVED this!
That was insanely fantastic! I read this in one day! This book is just THAT great!
It is always crazy to read a “brother’s best friend” book. There is always a few elements of naughty to it. There is the age differences (because you always fall for you older brother’s best friend) Then there is all the secrecy (because you cant tell your best friend that you have been messing around with is sister!) Briar was in love with Asher before she even knew what love was. He was in love with her but denied it because it “wasn’t right”. They had a few things and people working against them…. I really hated Whitley (but I LOVED how she was the PERFECT bitch!!!) There was really nothing about this book that I did not love. The whole story, including the things that they both also had happening away from each other. I cant believe I had this sitting on my kindle for so long before I FINALLY got to it!
This book has blown me away. For real.
It had so much passion, hot and sexy scenes and pure love, I couldn’t put it down, and when I got to the very end, I didn’t want it to finish. I needed more. SO MUCH MORE.
The story was so hot and the storyline incredible. I LOVE when authors innovate in common sub-genres and topics-in this case enemies to lovers. I certainly didn’t see this book coming, and I’m so glad to say it’s one of my favs of 2017. This was like gasoline consuming my life.
I’m already in love with this author’s writing style. She’s definitely a one-click for me.
If you like hot-as-sin guys and passionate raw love… you need this book in your life. And this is book one in a world of characters that are driving me crazy.
Forbidden, angsty, love love love! Charleigh is a newish author to me and each book gets better and better. Awesome writing and all of the elements to make the story developed and complete are there. If you want all the feels, I highly recommend this one!!
Where do I start?
No, really? I’ve sat on this review for far too long because there was a war raging inside me. I LOVED this book. Like, absolutely fucking loved it.
Hell, I loved it so much, I have some sick fascinations with succulents and shit. Like, who did Briar make me? Damn.
Asher Kelly, there are not many book men that make me as angry and enamored as you have, but you did. You’re an asshole, but such a loveable one.
Briar, girl, if spirit animals were a thing, you’d be mine.
I’ve always been a huge fan of best friend’s little sister books. Because, that’s my life story with my hubs. Sometimes you read a book that reminds you of all the heartache and battles you went through to get your HEA, and Briar & Asher do that. They go through so fucking much, it makes you want to hug them, slap some sense into them, and then cut any bitch that’d try to break them apart.
They had some hot AF scenes, and regardless of how some people hate seeing the age differences, life isn’t fucking rainbows and butterflies. It’s raw, dirty, and ageless. BRAVO, Charles. Keep that dirty shit up, I like it.
I can honestly say, Dare made this book for me. IDK why, but I have a thing for side characters. Getting their little glimpses make me want more and more, and Dare did that.
And, guess what bitches, his book is CUMMING. See what I did there? Hahaha.
C.L., OUT!
You know that you’ve stumbled across an extraordinary story when you completely neglect your adult responsibilities without any care in the world. Seriously I don’t even feel guilty because this book was definitely worth waking up two hours earlier to finish an assignment that is due at noon (don’t judge me, this college girl needs a break every once in awhile ). I still can’t believe that I didn’t discover Charleigh Rose until earlier this year because she has easily become one of my favorite authors.
I absolutely LOVED Asher and Briar story and I even think that they may have even become my Bad Habit (pun totally intended)! This story had not one…not two…but THREE of my all-time favorite book troupes all rolled into one epic story. It’s got that whole older brother’s best friends, enemies to lovers and second chance kinda feel. Gosh…this story was just EVERYTHING and all I can keep thinking about is getting my hands on Charleigh Rose’s next book because their last two releases have certainly kept me on the edge of my seat.
Wow! This may be one of the shortest reviews I’ve written in a longtime, but I just can’t seem to find anymore words to describe this beautifully captivating story without giving away the essence of the entire plot…so I will just say that Bad Habit is hands down a THOUSAND star read that needs to be downloaded onto your kindle ASAP! Also totally be prepared to experience ALL THE FEELS because Charleigh Rose is the QUEEN of emotions!!!
