Bec Darden was a high-powered attorney who had spent her entire adult life building a fearsome reputation both in the courtroom and the boardroom. But once upon a time, she was also a naïve and romantic—aka idiotic—soul who’d married her college sweetheart on a whim just before graduating. She and Luke were young and in love and—No surprise, her marriage had been short-lived.Explosive. Miserable. … short-lived.
Explosive. Miserable. And incredibly, incredibly short-lived.
But now Luke Pearson was back in her life and with the worst possible news. Her marriage, the one she’d almost immediately regretted, and the subsequent divorce she’d paid through the teeth for by working insane hours and basically not sleeping for several years hadn’t happened.
As in she was still freaking married.
Luke had been sexy in high school, gorgeous in college, but he was even hotter as a grown man and his reappearance in her life hadn’t done anything to dampen the attraction she felt for him.
But Bec had already learned that sex wasn’t everything. One broken heart was enough, and she wasn’t in the market to give Luke another chance at shattering her all over again. He needed to sign the divorce papers she drafted and leave her to her life.
Except . . . what did they say about best laid plans?
Because Luke wouldn’t sign.

I received a review copy of this book before release for an honest review.
This is Bec’s story. She is the single lawyer in a group of close friends. She is also a workaholic. One day she comes home from work and discovers her ex, Luke on her doorstep. Luke was her husband and her boyfriend in high school and college and they even married until the things he said he loved about her he also started criticizing and that’s how they ended up divorced.
Now years later he is back and he finds out they never divorced and he is ready to be all in with Beck but first he has to earn his 2nd chance. I loved how strong a woman Beck is but also how sweet a and awesome she is. She really makes him work for it.
This is a new favorite for me in this series. It easily stands alone but it also brings back the other women from the other books in the series and I loved seeing them again.
Elise Faber’s Bad Divorce is a 2nd Chance at love delight. It’s set in modern day, the plot is contemporary and the main characters of Luke and Bec will have you rooting for them. Theirs was a love that started too soon and lost before they could hold on tight and realize what would be lost. Fast forward 10 years later and Luke is back, ready to fight for a 2nd chance but Bec isn’t so forgiving. This is a deliciously tempting, unique and exciting story that hit all the right spots with me- 2nd chance at love, passion, swoon-worthy hero, fiery heroine, great secondary characters, awesome plot and steamy moments to complement the story. This is a great addition to the series. Luke and Bec will have you rooting for their HEA.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
Stepping up to be the man she deserved
—>>> Luke Pearson had an epiphany one day, one which led him back to the doorstep of the one woman he could not forget, the one woman he still loved. The one it turns out he was STILL married to. Now that he clearly knows what he wants, he would be stupendously lucky to even get a second chance with his fierce and amazing Becky, the very same woman he had shamefully pushed away and not surprisingly, she left him to study Harvard Law. NOW is the time to step up to be the man he wanted to be for her.
A great read and I am very much looking forward to reading Sera’s story next, which we got a taste of at the end of this book. I also have the first three books of this series of Bec’s fabulously supportive friends now in my TBR list!
Finally we have Bec’s story. If you’ve read the Billionaire’s Club series already then you know a little bit about who Bec is and the rest of the ladies in this series. If you haven’t then you really need to read this series and find out all about this close group of ladies and their path to love. You will laugh out loud and swoon all at the same time. Bad Divorce is so good. It is hot and steamy, filled with loyal friendships, second chances. I love Bec. She is strong and doesn’t let any man break her walls down. That is until Luke. Luke is the only one that has ever gotten through and he’s back. I love how Luke learns from the past mistakes and doesn’t let Bec intimidate his decisions. We finally get to see a different side of Bec when if comes to Luke. You will love them so much. The fight and the feels just totally makes this book amazing. I love this one. I couldn’t put Bad Divorce down. This needs to be read along with the whole series if you haven’t read them yet. Go one click these today.
This is the first book that I have read from the writer and from this series. It was interesting, funny at times, and heart wrenching at times. Overall a very good book. Becky has moved on with her life. She is living her life the way she wants. Enjoying her career and her friends. One day she comes home to her ex being at her house with a huge surprise regarding their divorce. That is when this storyline gets very interesting. Luke had moved on also but when he was ready to move on to someone else completely he learned that it wasn’t so easy after all. He will do whatever it takes to prove to Becky that he still loves her and wants to be a part of her life. I absolutely loved these two together. Luke proving to her that he is worth the risk is wonderful to read about. This was a great storyline from beginning to end. I cant wait to read more from this series. Elise gained a fan with this one.
Teenage heartbreak finds a second chance at forever. Bad Divorce is the story of young love facing adult sized problems. Bec and Luke love hard, but implode rather quickly.
Fast forward ten years and the naivety has worn off, yet heartache still haunts their everyday lives. Life throws a twist when the problems of the past provide a chance for a future. The drama never ends. The pain runs deep and there are secrets constantly being revealed. Faber continues to mesmerize with complicated emotions and realistic situations. Love is not always beautiful, however it’s in the ugly moments that strength finds it’s footing. Deeply, soulful romance.
What happens when you find your special someone at a young age and get married? You end up with a Bad Divorce. That’s what happened with Luke and Bec “Becky”. However, instead of actually getting that divorce the courthouse and all the paperwork currently processing went up in flames. I think that was the one thing I had an issue with during this entire story. You would think that Rebecca “f*****g” Darden, the bad** lawyer would have followed up and made sure that everything was taken care of. Unfortunately it took 10 years and an attempted marriage that Luke was “supposedly” thankful to be out of for them to learn that they were still married. Huh. Other than that I liked this story. I loved watching Bec become Becky. I liked Luke and his pursuit of Bec. They were good for each other. Sometimes you have to grow up before you can finally find that real HEA. My heart melted for these two. I loved that we got some more of the girls too. They really are a true and loving family for each other. Then there was that epilogue.. Sera needs her HEA!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.”
A fun, no drama, second-chance contemporary romance that will make you feel all swoony. I really enjoy Elise Faber’s writing and while this was the first book I read in this particular series, I had no trouble jumping into the fifth book in it, so it can be read as a complete standalone.
Bad Divorce was such a delightful, easy read, once I picked it up I didn’t set it back down again until I was finished. Bec and Luke were destined to be together, especially since their divorce paperwork burned up leaving them unknowingly married for a decade. Once Luke becomes aware of the error, he sees it as a sign and seeks out Bec ready to win back the woman that he never should have let go in the first place.
I love the comradery of all the girls that Bec has with her girlfriends, in this day and age, women need that band of sisterhood and I love when we show positive support of each other. On another positive note, I love how the characters talk about their growth over the decade they were apart. Talking about where they made mistakes and learning from them is a communication breakdown we lack in everyday life, so I LOVED reading this so much.
Great book! Easy read! Fun and flirty!
Bec Darden met the love of her life in high school, Luke Pearson was everything she wanted, the man who held the key to her future. But somewhere along the line life got in the way, they started to want different things, and it drove a little wedge between them. Which ultimately caused them to go their separate ways… but their undying love is about to reunite them!
Ten years have passed now, and all this time they thought they have been free to move on with someone new… but when Luke tries he soon learns that their divorce was never finalized. Which means he still has a shot to make her see they belong together… and rectify the wrongs of their past.
Bad Divorce is a story about a couple who had everything they could want, and then in a blink of an eye it was gone. They were so busy trying to make their dreams come that in the process of making it happen they lost sight of what was important, their love for one another. But a little mishap at the court house is about to bring these two love birds back into one another lives, but they both have a lot of hurt to work through first, before they can embrace their second chance. I absolutely loved this story, it was a beautifully crafted second chance story that was rich with feeling, and dripping with white hot romance… these two set the pages on fire!! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, the words are heartfelt and humorous, and the steamy moments will leave you blushing… it’s truly a romance readers perfect literary escape!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
This was an okay read. A pretty quick and easy read with nothing much going on and completely on the lowest side on the angst scale. There is nothing for me to rave about this book.
My only problem with this book was the writing style. When the story is written in third person poi t of view, what was the need to put the character names in the subheadings?
2 Stars!
DNF
If you’re looking for an easy and sexy, second chance to get it right romance with characters you will root for from page one … here you go. Go forth and enjoy!
As you know from the synopsis of the book (which btw I think it is way too much information lol #twitchy), high school sweethearts jump to marriage just to find themselves divorced in a blink. Ten years later and a whole of growing up later, they find themselves not legally divorced at all.
Let the games begin …
If they were older at the time of the divorce, I would be inclined to be twitchy that none followed up to make sure paperwork was filled but because they were really young when it happened, the storyline fit perfectly and was believable. So from the start, I was a very happy reader! And my happiness continued until the very last word!
I loved the comeback meet cute (I don’t know how else to word it LOL). When Luke comes back into Bec’s life, he challenges her, and it was fun and cute and sexy and kinda romantic. Their spark throughout the story was so damn captivating to read. I just couldn’t get enough of them and I had a huge smile on my face and my heart was full to the brim. These two made it easy to like them. They were real and their story was realistic.
This is my first read by Elise Faber but I’ve bought the previous 4 books in this series already and hope to binge those really soon! I really enjoyed her voice and style!
I cannot get enough of Elise Faber’s books. I don’t know where the book gods were hiding, but I am so grateful they brought her to me. Bec and Luke have HISTORY and none of it is good! Their past could define their future if they let it, but when you are wounded to your soul taking a chance on love can seem insurmountable to you; taking a chance on someone who has already burned you can make you terrified. Becky and Luke were a pleasure to watch find their way back to one another. They really do come full circle in their relationship and once they figure it out there is nothing that can stop them.
