He has a past. Could she be his future? My son is my life. Nothing on earth matters but him.Soon, I’ll have to send him out into society. The cruel machine that gnashes innocence and spits out the hollowed remains of a child’s imagination. It’s a place I know all too well, considering my past. I’ve worked hard to separate myself from it, but it looms in the back of my mind—waiting for the perfect … mind—waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
My son, Logan, wants to have birthday parties, make friends, play at the park—all the normal things that seven-year olds want to do. All the things I want to do with him.
I’ve put up walls around our life to shield us from danger. Giant barriers to ward off possible threats.
Cora Chapman crashes through them like a wrecking ball. She’s intelligent and hilarious with soft curves and a spark that ignites a flame deep inside of me.
There’s only one problem—she’s Logan’s teacher.
When my past wraps its tentacles around my throat and threatens to strangle the breath from my lungs, I’m given an option—fight for my family’s freedom, or die as they’re stripped away from me.
I can’t lose. I won’t lose.
My name is Landon Lane and I am a warrior.
Bad Dad ends at 97% and is a 116k word (approx 400 pg) standalone romance. Contains a bonus chapter of a future Sloane Howell release.

This is my first book by Sloane Howell. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Honestly, this is my first book by a male author.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Twist and turns made me keep turning the pages!
Landon was such a mystery. I had to know what his story was. It was not what I was expecting but it was good!
Cora was a great heroine. I enjoyed the journey of her growing and becoming the strong person she knew she could be.
This book had some great funny moments along with raw, emotional ones. It broke my heart but put it back together. So good!
5 flipping you the bird stars!
This book had everything you can imagine. We’re given suspense, drama, laughter, a family bond and a beautiful love story. Landon is not your average man and Cora gets to to know him on a deeper level then anyone else and it all started because she’s the teacher of his son Logan. I was consumed with this storyline it’s not one you read everyday and it’s truly original. Joe is absolutely hilarious and you learn quickly that even this man has a heart of gold. I’m trying not to give anything away with this review but I will say it is a must read hands down! Just when you think the story is done BAM where hit with more and I just loved every second. The pace was perfect and I never once lost interest, this is a true page turner that will have you holding your breath at times waiting for what’s to come next. Grab your copy and make sure it’s on the top of your TBR list! This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
This book was the first I’ve read by Sloane Howell and it was so good! I loved every second of the story. The plot was fast paced and felt like watching an action packed movie. The characters wormed their way into my heart. I loved the relationship between the main characters and the relationship between the main characters and the side characters. I will definitely be reading more by Sloane Howell.
The ending could have been less complex.
What story of how a single dad would do anything to protect his son. What a story that brings dark the lightness it needs. See more soon on my YouTube Channel.

Never underestimate the strength and power a person can get when the people they love is in danger. London’s love for the family ga e him the strength to do the impossible. This story is so gripping I couldn’t put it down, especially at the end. My heart was beating so fast during the fight, it like I was right there at the ring side watching . A brilliant story
Like a Marvel story with lots of f-bombs! Loved it otherwise!
Oh my what a wonderful storyline .
I couldn’t put it down until I finished it I was so engrossed wanting to know what happened next.
Logan was absolutely adorable a d the connection Landon had with him was remarkable.
This was such a lovely story with wonderful characters and the connection between them all was brilliant. Loved Joe, Janet and Gus.
Loved how Joe went all shy when Logan started calling him Uncle and the way Joe reacted to his Nephew.
Brilliant book.
It was hard to get fully engaged in this book. The plot of the book was too far-fetched.
Way too much going on in this book. Story line was confusing.
Great story. Could not put the book down until I completed it.
Not my usual book and i don’t usually like “octagon” fighting books but was into the book before I knew H was a fighter. But it was easy to read and suspenseful. Not sure about the guy that ran the “island” and the ending was weird but I did like the book overall.
It has a bit of science fiction to it. I had a hard time embracing that.
Sure, this book is a romance, but it is also so much more! There was mystery and intrigue. The last third of the book was so fraught with tension, I couldn’t put it down. Wished Cora had a little more backbone but I loved all the characters and their relationship with each other. Wonder if Joe gets to be ‘human’ enough to get his HEA?
Bad Dad by Sloane Howell
I love the premise of the story a devoted father willing to anything for his son even die. I really loved Landon Lane he was a powerful character a true alpha, loving father, loyal friend and when he loves he gives his whole heart. I just didn’t understand where he came from and his background and the book doesn’t explain it or spell it out by the end like I hoped it would have hoped. He is genetically modified on a place called Hells Island. He is used as a weapon until he escaped ten years ago. Now he is in a fight of his life to save his life along with his son, friends and the woman he has come to love.
Cora Chapman is a teacher and Landon’s son Logan is in her class. She meets Landon after an incident involving another child and his son. There is an immediate attraction but there are forces that are trying to keep them apart. Landon fights for what he wants but Cora is known to run from her problems or when things get tough. I found her wishy washy at best he deserved someone stronger although she did come around as the story progressed.
The secondary characters Janet,Gus and especially Joe enhance and bring depth to this book. (Of course Logan) I truly hope Joe gets a book of his own he is bad ass in his own right!
Landon Lane is a man running from the past, living in the present, and raising the future. The problem is he’s found his kryptonite, and her name is Cora Chapman. His son already loves her and if things were not so complicated she’d also blend into his world… But that may not happen if his past is not kept at bay.
Sloane Howell has created the ultimate journey in Bad Dad—he has a hero, mentors, a villain, and the fair maiden, which he blends together with a sprinkling of magic ingredients and a cast of characters that could only bring Bad Dad to the forefront of an epic story. With Logan Lane’s help to mix these elements, it becomes clear to everyone that truth and purity of ideals lie in the eyes of a child. Howell writes the struggle of a man who broke free of his past, one with blemishes and unanswered questions, showing that every man deserves the chance to right the wrongs. Landon Lane certainly knows this is his journey to take and to win—for his son, his family, and his future. It’s time you take this journey, too, and wrap yourself around one well-done recipe for both adventure and romance.
HOLY CRAPOLA! I DEVOURED this book! I love Sloane so much! He is such a versatile writer. This book was exactly what I needed. It had the PERFECT amount of action and romance (he does this so well).
Landon is the BEST dad and as the blurb said, an amazing warrior. Little Logan is the cutest kid EVER. They are the best duo, and Janet, she was icing on the cake. Or so I thought, until I met Cora. Cora was a warrior of her own accord in this book. She was a woman who was standing up for the children she taught and for the people she loved. She was so admirable, even when the world was working against her. She was the perfect addition to Landon and Logan’s world. Everything about their relationship was amazing. It was rough, a little wild, and HOT!
Then we got the action. Landon is a BEAST. I loved his day job and how he helped his friend Sam. He’s just so fierce and dominant. He commands attention and everyone is fearful. BUT that is also SO DARN HOT! It was that dominance that really captivated Cora. It was also that dominance that helped him in this crazy fight. There was lots of violence, but that made it all the better for me. I may have to read this another time, or five. Sloane, you are a genius!!
“He was pure power and finesse. He could get hot enough to melt steel and at the same time heat just enough to warm my soul. I wasn’t sure how I didn’t end up a puddle on the ground.”
Exciting, made my heart pound, my heart melt, and my kindle burn right up! Hooked to the last page, giggling and gasping like a maniac! Honestly needs to be a movie!!

Landon Lane is hiding in a quaint town in Montana trying his best to keep his past from catching up with him and his son Logan. Logan’s second grade teacher shouldn’t factor into this equation at all, but once Landon catches a glimpse of Ms. Chapman, he’s hard-pressed to stay away.
Cora Chapman’s come back to Montana after going to school and teaching in New York. She missed the quiet of Montana, the mountains and the cool air; her new second grade class is a dream and even if her boss is a bit afraid of some of the parents Cora is determined to make the most of her move back. When she runs into Logan’s dad she doesn’t know what to make of the giant with the sweet kid but she’s too intrigued to turn away.
Way more of this book was centered around Landon and his past than around Landon falling in love with Cora. That actually happens quite early in the story then we’re left with them navigating their problems, now with a partner in tow. Landon definitely comes with more baggage than Cora, not that she doesn’t have a bit too but his is more serious having the potential to affect all of his loved ones.
The secondary characters in this were really well done, I enjoyed Joe and he provided some timely comedic relief, whether he knew it or not, and Janet was always attached to her kindle which made me smile. I enjoyed the way we saw Landon’s past in flashbacks that sort of hit out of the blue. It was interesting to learn more about him and I was definitely not expecting the background we got for Landon. The book builds up to Landon’s big fight at the end and I enjoyed the way that panned out. The ending seemed a bit odd to me, it was unexpected and I wanted something to support it a bit more. Overall it was a solid fighter romance from Sloane!
**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book
All I can say about this story is WOW! This story was amazing. It pulled me in and wouldn’t let go. When I wasn’t reading it I was wanting to be reading it. Now that I have finished it I don’t want it to be over it pulled me in that much.
I absolutely love Landon! He is 100 percent ALPHA, He will make you swoon with not only he moves in the bedroom but the way he is with his son Logan as well. He is amazing. I loved everything about him.
I loved that this story takes place mostly in Montana. As I am from Montana I love reading stories that are set here.
Cora was a bit ditzy but she was just what Landon needed. I loved that she didn’t give up on him no matter what doubts she had.
One click this story it is so good! The author did an amazing job telling this story! A must read for sure!
