Sometimes it’s hard to keep a low profile as an attractive woman in a casino.I was minding my own business, using my skill to win enough money at the blackjack tables to pay off my student debt, when I noticed someone else was minding my business, too.He was hot, he looked ultra-rich, and he had no reason to notice me. So why was he stalking me from table to table? I thought I might be in trouble … might be in trouble for winning too much.
I had no idea how sexy the trouble would turn out to be.

Holy guacamole! This is so much more than a love story. There is drama, mobsters and gambling. I listened to this on audio and I was figured I was in for a short story. This is not that….well it is short (time-wise) but this is full of so much story, character and gambling Information that it doesn’t seem short at all. It had me listening closely so I didn’t miss a thing.
I was severely impressed with this story. The characters are entertaining. The two MC each learn respect for each other but they each have secrets and I really didn’t think there was anyway this story would end in their favor. It just didn’t seem possible.
This is my first book by this author as well as my first by this narrator. As stated the story impressed me. The narrator, Guillaume Dubois, did a wonderful job. He was easy to understand and he added to the story with the inflection in his voice.
This was a fairly quick fun read. I liked the heroine a lot but thought that the hero needed a bit more development. Overall ok for reading on a lazy afternoon, as it was good enough, but not more than that.
This book was very good if you are into the lure of gambling and casinos and unlikely heroines. It did have a bad boy billionaire but we don’t really get to learn much about him or get to see much of his bad or good side. The heroine is appealing but a bit underdeveloped as a character as well. if the focus of this book was on the poker, then the characters and subplots are fine, but the ending isn’t. If the focus of the book is on the bad boy, the ending is fine but the build up is too thin. If the focus on on the romance, then there is too much poker and not enough falling in love. The subplot COULD be a good spin off or prequel. To be honest, this felt like a book within a series where a lot of the backstory and mental processing had already been told. Its a great concept, the poker and the heroine pulled me in and kept me reading. I enjoyed the ending but wished the romance and the bad boy had been a bit more robust.
This book has some drama, some dubious characters, sexy times, and more plus a happy ever after
Good story.
I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Romance, manipulation, poker and mafia
I loved this story that seemed pretty simple at first, and finally that includes many reversals, unpredictable parts, from the beginning to the end of the story. The characters are all excellent, even the secondary ones.
I was a little afraid that the heroine Tara, a math genius with eidetic memory, is too naive in the face of a manipulative Marc, a former poker player who wants to train her, but even if she is, she quickly shows that she is not a puppet and what she will do is because she will have decided it. Not to mention that the character of Marc, in addition to being a manipulator, is egocentric, has no empathy and that he only thinks of his revenge without taking into consideration Tara, trying to play her as in a poker game, at least until Tara shows him that she will not be as malleable.
Only point of disappointment, I would have liked to have an additional chapter to conclude the lives of the various characters a few years later.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I didn’t realize it until I was well into this story but to me this is dark romance, which I normally shy away from reading but once I started this I didn’t want to just give up and not give Marc the chance to redeem himself. The plot flows pretty much straight as I expected for the first few chapters but Marc does show his power of persuasion early on. Main reason I normally never read dark romance is because there is always an edge to it that comes across as harsh behavior, its the norm when reading about mob families but just not my cup of tea although it always does engage the emotions, not all the good ones either. Tara was a bit weak and weepy to be paired up with a character like Marc, I think her roommate’s character would’ve been better matched but in the end I did smile and felt happy for them working through all his family drama. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
Great Audible Listen TaraMark! A High Stakes Romance
Badboy Billionaire
By: Natasha Stories
Narrated by: Guillaume Dubois
This is an enjoyable, well written and well told story. The storylines Natasha Stories created are original and captivating from start to end. Her characters are realistic and well developed. I really liked the lead female Tara, she was her own person with her own agenda. That was until Mark comes into her life, who had his own agenda and recruited her to help him. She develops feelings for him but he knows a longterm relationship is not in their future. He keeps his secrets from her and tells himself it is for her own good. But sometimes things don’t always go as planned. I highly recommend this fast paced story, it is entertaining and contains drama & some hot romance. Thank you for this great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Guillaume Dubois is a terrific narrator and voice performer. He brings the characters to life, gives them personality and attitude. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for another great listen
