Flynn, lion alpha of the Bad Blood Crew, has had enough of fated mates. Every time one of his crew falls in love, a crap-ton of trouble rains down behind them. Besides, he’s…Flynn. Dominant. Uncompromising. Grumpy. Tactless. Hell, he likes things his way. The last thing he needs is a female who expects him to trip over his paws trying to make her happy. Flynn protects his people and keeps them … alive—period. “Happy” is not in his vocabulary.
Kira has been officially dead for twenty years—raised in secret after the Dragon House of Al-Maddeiri was wiped out in a clan war when she was only a child. But now her life is unraveling: her guardian is dead, and the magical binding that hides her true nature is breaking down. If the out-of-control magic doesn’t kill her, her enemies will. Her only hope is to hunt down the last surviving member of the Lion Guard—the one man who might have the power to save her.
A lifetime ago, Flynn swore an oath to the House of Al-Maddeiri, to protect their princess with his life. Now she’s back from the dead, bristling with weapons and attitude—and wanting him to honor his promise. She might be the one woman who can take on the alpha of the Bad Blood Crew and change his mind about happily ever after—if she doesn’t get him killed first…

Okay, I did not see this coming. The previous books in this series are all about people overcoming persecution, abuse and PTSD with the help of their mates. Magic? Dragons? Sorcerers? Nope, did not see this coming but boy, does it add a new dimension (sorry, pun not intended) to this series.
I couldn’t wait for flynn to find his mate. He is a strong imposing male and I wondered what kind of female the author would give him. The author gave him a mate worthy of all his strength, paranoia and power. They are perfect and compliment each other in every way.
Boring ever after—-ha ha Flynn’s thoughts on not having a mate or love. Duty is all that keeps him together. It’s all for his crew. Until SHE shows up.
So glad Xander is his old self in this story. He really adds a zing to it. His joking around with Flynn or the others cracks me up. Very enjoyable!
This is a great book! Full of action, sarcasm, and love of family! I loved it and am sorry to see this series end!
I have read the books in this series and I was so waiting for Flynn’s story. The moody alpha lion finally gets his mate. I love how Anastasia stayed true to his personality and didn’t change him into a mussy guy just because he found love. He wouldn’t be Flynn if he wasn’t moody and standoffish as if he didn’t care but everyone know that he does. Every book in the series was great. Now I have to go search for The next series featuring Emon and Mayah’s stories. Until next time y’all happy reading.
The best book in this series! I’ve read all five books in this series, and they have all culminated in this exquisite tale full of action, emotional growth, soul deep exual attraction and connections that build a family on purpose. Flynn and Kira are like magic together, both broken pieces of the same heart, but they don’t know it. They fight the feelings thinking they aren’t worthy, and the whole time they are moving forward, something from their past is dragging them down. I thought they would die a few times while reading it, but was still invested in the story right through to the end. There was so much action, emotion and attraction, plus all of the other accumulated family rom the previous books were deeply involved in this story, that it made this one that much better. Before this series, I don’t recall reading anything by Anastasia Wilde, now I have to find everything she’s ever written and binge read them too! This series is fantastic, you should read them all and be as thoroughly enthralled as I am now.
Well, I am stumped as to what to say about this book.
I couldn’t put it down and as I was away on a girls weekend the day I started to read this I have to say, I suffered withdrawal symptoms until I came home and could finish it.
There is an almost compulsive need for me to see where and with whom the last of these abused and mistreated shifters goes in direction.
The emotions throughout this book made me both smirk, giggle and cry with all the actions and attitudes on parade.
Xander’s behaviour with Kira is so good and the ending where Flynn said thanks to everyone did make me tear up.
Flynn really does meet his perfect match and we find out so much more about this complex Alpha, not least of which is the bond formed with a five year old girl when he was only 12 years old. Talk about taking things to the extreme.
I cannot say I am upset at the overall loss of the Dragon House of Al-Maddeiri. They seemed like selfish ratbags. Luckily there is hope with those left.
Kiri is just after Flynn to save herself at first, though she comes across as selfish in the beginning, once you learn about the family history and her upbringing you can understand and forgive her eventually.
Kira turns out to be one of the most grounded and capable female heroines written and a perfect fit for the Bad Blood Crew.
Love the direction this author is going next.
Do yourself a favour and read this series in correct order to get the full effect of this book.
This is my honest review of this book.
This was a really good story. I would recommend it if you don’t mind bad language
