This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I didn’t know what to expect, however I’m glad I did as this book was a beautiful read. This book is very written fantastically and straight from the prologue my heart was hurting from that young 10 year old girl.
Pennilyn and BO promised each other that they said they’d never break. Then she did. She had her reasons and that’s why she broke the promise. But now she has to go back and face her past the people she thought she’d never see again.
Can these two souls ever really have a second chance at love ?
(NO SPOILERS ).
This book is a story of second chances, romance, love, regret, then forgiveness and hope, the question is do we ever change or do we always remain the same people we’ve always ?
This book is very real and relatable and there is a very real struggle happening. This story is very realistic and true and It’s filled with alot of drama and twists you won’t see coming and as with real life and love and forgiveness. I really felt for Pennilyn and everything that she’d been through and even at a young age being judged and compared so much.
This book is a complete page turner and I just couldn’t put it down and I read this book in one sitting as it keeps you gripped from the start. I always love books with prologue and epilogue I think that it brings something special to the book.
I absolutely loved this book and I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future.
Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is out now.
A beautifully written second chance romance. Pennilynn is always used to being unwanted and her parents making her feeling unloved. A misunderstanding she overheard has her running away from the one person she thought loved her and was different. Then she finds out she’s pregnant and makes the decision to not tell the father for fear of subjecting her baby to the way she was raised. Five years later she finds herself moving back in with her aunt and coming face to face with her past and confronting her baby daddy and second guessing her decisions. Can two people hurt by haste decisions move forward, what happens when more lies comes to light.
I won an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
My heart went out to Penny. She was made to feel unloved and unimportant. When she finally found people who could love her, the rug was pulled out from under her. This was a story about not only finding love, but not letting the past repeat itself. It’s about making sure those you love receive your love and yet they give it back to you. It’s also about forgiviness for not only those that hurt you, but forgiveness for yourself. And starting over again with those loved ones once you’ve realized that they really did love you after all.
We meet 10 year old Pennilyn who’s upset that her mother is sending her away for the summer to her Aunt Sylvie’s farm in Nebraska because her sister Brynlee is a kid pageant star and is winning everything she has entered. Penny moves back to Nebraska with her daughter, Tessa who’s four. Penny meets a friend of her ex boyfriend’s, Bo by the name of Wilder. Wilder realizes that Bo is Tessa’s father and Penny begs Wilder to let her be the one to tell Bo that he’s a dad. This was my first book by Ms. Olson but certainly not my last. I loved all the characters especially Penny, Bo, Tessa, Wilder and Sylvie
Loved, loved, loved this book! Drama…but not drug out or beat to death.. Great story line that flowed. Great Chemistry between Penny and Bo! Tessa was the cutest… And I just loved Wilder! Was happy to see there is more to come for him! I loved a HEA ad this fit the bill! And Penny as well as Bo really deserved it!
This is my first book by this author and I’m glad it was my first! I’m HOOKED. At first I was a little concerned with the communication between characters but that concern was quickly thrown out the window. This book was REAL for me. I felt this book into my heart because I feel I really could connect with Penny from the very beginning.
I love how the author puts in just these little jabs of humor in the most random but AWESOME places. It had me snickering and full on laughing at parts. But in the end, it made me feel good.
When Penny has to go back home to her Aunt, she has a plan that everything will go smoothly. But from the very beginning that plan keeps going sideways. The universe knew what Penny needed from the very beginning of the book and had found it, or picked back up where it was left off.
If you’re looking for a sweet second chance romance with some humor thrown in, you should pick this book up! I plan to tell all my book friends it’s a requirement to read for our friendships to continue… just kidding! But seriously! 😉
I. Loved. This. Book. Definitely top five of my favorite reads so far in 2020. I wasn’t expecting the twists, wasn’t expecting to fall so hard for Bo, wasn’t expecting to totally adore Pennilyn and empathize with her. I honestly wasn’t expecting just about everything that this book threw at me, but once I dove in, I didn’t come up for air again until I was done devouring this book. There are so many secrets and sins packed into this book, but those make this book an absolute page-turner from beginning to end. READ THIS BOOK. NOW. You’ll love it.
The book is a good romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. The story is an enjoyable inspirational romance read that is an second chance romance story.

B.L. Olson OMG, this book hit me with all the feels.
At first I was angry about the way everyone treated Penny and her daughter. I was shocked to learn about Penny’s paternity. I was screaming Bo to “just make a damn move already!!” But overall, I was so darn happy for the way everything fell into place.
You’ve written another AMAZING love story Brit. I can’t wait for Love is a Bad Word.
I have been a long time fan of B.L. Olson, and I have to say, she’s outdone herself with this story. Penny is flawed, but endearing. Bo is gentle and strong. Together they have a chemistry that will have your heart melting. Especially once you see them with Tessa!
Once again, Olson has written characters that are so real, you feel like they could pop off the page and interact with you. The storyline has depth, and there are twists you won’t see coming!
I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone, but if you love second chance romance stories featuring women with agency and serious character development, this is the story for you!
I’ve been excited about this book since it was announced. And this book lived up to the hype and went over it. Pennilyn is returning to Nebraska to live with her aunt while she gets back on her feet with young daughter. She is bringing secrets and hard decisions along with her. From the moment she steps foot into town she is hit with shock after shock. She realizes the major decisions she made were based off of misunderstandings. Now she is reconnecting with friends, trying to right a wrong to her ex that also affects her daughter, and learning family secrets she had no clue about. I loved every minute of this book. This story had me swooning, frustrated, and shocked right along with Pennilyn. Get ready to laugh at the character banter and also have your heart warmed while you fall in love with these characters. I can’t wait what stories this author makes us fall head over heels for next.
I loved this book! Pennilyn and Bo kept me entertained from the first page until the last!!! I couldn’t put this book down!! I devoured it!! Bo definitely deserves his place in my harem!
Penny and Bo are the epitome of second chance love. Getting together you and experiencing being in love, the pair were everything to one another when unfortunate circumstances destroyed that bond.
Years later with a secret in tow, they find that time did nothing for the passion the still held for one another. Sweet story featuring not one major secret, but a few. Misunderstandings and family drama makes this story real and relatable.
If you love a good second chance romance, these two will do the trick!
Bad at Love is the first book by B.L Olson that I have read. and enjoyed very much. I loved reading and following Pennilyn and Bo’s second chance story. Pennilyn believing the worst of the man she loves, which is understandable because of her parents, makes choices that change both their lives forever. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
I’m such a fan of BL Olson. When you open to the first page of Bad at Love the story takes off. Pennilynn was so easy to connect to. I wanted the best for her and Tessa. I needed to read the inevitable moment we knew was going to happen. Brittany didn’t make us wait long thanks goodness. Just enough drama to have my heart clenching. Bo is a good guy and swoony! The dialogue and banter between Penny, Wilder and Bo is where Brittany really excels in her writing. I love the humor she always infuses in her stories. Somethings are just meant to be and Bad at Love is that kind of love story. I adored this book!
Bo and Penny’s story was beautiful. It has all the emotions, from sad, to happy, to angry. It’s all the feels.
This was a story of love and what one thinks is best, but sometimes what we think is best might not be. Love is a wild ride and this book takes us on one heck of one as Bo and Penny navigate their relationship and all that goes along with it.
*Received an ARC for honest review.
I was so excited to read this when I first read the blurb and it delivered. I stayed up half the night to finish this because all I wanted to make sure Bo and Penny got the ending they deserved.
Bad at Love is a warming love story about second chances and broken dreams. Olson wrote an incredible story to give these characters what they needed to overcome the choices in their life.
Definitely a must read!!
Pennylyn made a mistake 4 years ago when she blamed Bo for something her father was trying to do and vanished. Now she’s on her way back from Seattle to Nebraska, but she’s in for a surprise.
When Bo runs into Pennylyn with a child he knows in his heart is his he realizes she did more than break his heart by sneaking off that night.
While Penny and Bo are working things out, she has no idea there are more secrets to be found and Penny is not prepared.
A sweet, hot, second chance romance with a twist I didn’t see coming. Well worth 4s.
Bad at Love kept me fully engaged from the first page and B.L. Olson’s plot twist completely took me by surprise. Penny and Bo compliment each other perfectly. Penny is a strong, independent woman and Bo is sweet and protective with a bit of a jealous side. Penny makes a decision that will change the course of both of their lives. Will they get their second chance or will fate intervene and keep them apart? You gotta read it to find out & I bet you too will love this sweet story just as much as I did.
This is the 1st book I’ve read written by B.L. Olson; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.
