Having grown up trapped in a gilded cage, the events of one tragic night changed everything.Farah Highland was raised with more money than most people could ever dream of, but with that wealth and privilege came cold indifference and cruelty. Determined to start living for herself, Farah cut ties with everything and everyone she’d ever known for the chance at starting over in the foothills of the … foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
Notorious town playboy, Cannon Banks grew up living the good life. He had it all, loving parents, good friends, and a face and body that drove women wild. Love and commitment were the last things on his mind . . . until he locked eyes with a woman across a crowded bar, and everything changed in a heartbeat.
There’s just one problem. Bad Alibi’s newest waitress wants nothing to do with him. But he’s nothing if not determined.
Cannon and Farah are about to enter into a battle of wills.
May the best man . . . or woman, win.

We met Cannon Banks in Sage and Xander’s Hope Valley book. He is a player and loved in the town, but Farah isn’t interested.
A great start to the town of Redemption series. There is come content that is a trigger, sexual assault of the h. I don’t think the recovery was really true as she had no issues with having sex with the H, but everyone heals differently.
I love a good reformed “manwhore”, but I thought Cannon could have been less of an asshole to Farah at times.
Overall, I liked the book. There were parts that I cringed, but I do like the characters that the world that Jessica Prince created. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Farah Highland grew up with all the money in the world as well as all the strings attached to it. After an incident has her reevaluating what she wants in life and decides to break ties with everyone but her brother and the only man she looks up to who worked for her family. She heads to the Smoky Mountains and finds a home for herself. Not wanting to sit idly she gets a job as a waitress at Bad Alibi where she sees Cannon Banks.
Cannon has the reputation of a player, he beds women and moves onto the next. He sees Farah and wants her but she is skittish, he decides to bide his time but then he learns who she really is and decides she is not worth it. Farah though surprises him at every turn and Cannon realizes she is the one person he can’t let go.
This was the best book I have read by this author so far. I loved every moment of the roller coaster of emotions this book put me through. Farah is a an inspirational character who is so accepting of others and yet can be a firecracker when needs arise. Cannon oozes alpha male through each page whether it is with just a look or action, he is intense and perfect for Farah. Excellent read.
This was my introduction to author Jessica Prince, and I’m overjoyed to have found such a fabulous new-to-me author!! I love the story, the romance, the town of Redemption, the family drama, and highly recommend this book!!
I really wanted to love this book. Jessica Prince is definitely a go to author for me and her books never disappoint. I felt like Bad Alibi was a fluffy love story I heard a million times.
I did like Farrah. She is a sweet girl who left a crappy life behind. I loved that she was starting a new life in this cute little town called Redemption. I enjoyed the friendships she makes with everyone, but especially with Poppy, Shane, and Bev. These woman were supportive of one another and I always enjoy reading about female bonding. My only issue is that Farrah dialogue was very cheesy and I have personal pet peeve about women calling their men honey. That is my personal preference and nothing to do with the author or my rating.
Then we get to Cannon. I did not fall in love or swoon over him. From the gt go he is portrayed as a manwhore who ha nothing but one night stands and Farrah is warned to stay clear. She even walks by his hotel room and hears him having sex the day after she met him. But he’s wanted her since the first day he saw her and Farrah is obviously is serious like at what she’s seeing. The man makes some snap judgments about her and leaves her alone for two weeks. Dick move. Then he comes back and they get together and they fall in love.
I would have preferred Cannon to not be a manwhore because it did nothing for the story. It makes it hard to believe he wanted her from day one when he was all up inside another woman. I’m fine that they end up together because there really were cute and I enjoyed the moments they shared. I also didn’t care for Farrah’s ex showing up and all the drama with that. I could have predicted that one coming from the jump.
Bad Alibi was an ok read for me. Not my favorite by the author, but I was invested in the story and enjoyed reading this book. I just didn’t love the story as I’d hoped I would. I look forward to possibly getting a book on Jase, Farrah’s brother next.
Let me start by saying that if you have read and enjoyed the ‘Hope Valley’ series of this writer than you will love this story ‘Bad alibi’ (and the new series ‘Redemption’) too! It has the same vibe to it as the ‘Hope Valley’ series. You don’t have to read the ‘Hope Valley’ series first to read this book.
I discover this writer (Jessica Prince) through the ‘Hope Valley’ series and it’s one of my favourite series. So I was very looking forward to her new series ‘Redemption’ and especially the first book ‘Bad alibi’. Just like the books in her ‘Hope Valley’, this story too had a ‘Kristen Ashley’ feeling to it. And being a big fan of the writer Kristen Ashley, that made me very glad but this time it also made me a little bit conflicted on the story. Because one of my favourite story of KA is ‘Sweet dreams’ and this story reminded me a bit of that story and that made that I couldn’t really loose myself completely into the story. What was sad because ‘Bad alibi’ is a great story and I’m sure that if I read if for the second time, I will enjoy it more because than I will already know what is coming. I don’t say that this book is a copy of ‘Sweet dreams’ but if you are like me and you have read a book so many times that you know what is coming out of your head, you do (unwillingly) compare stories that has the same feel to it.
So now about the story itself, like it said, I enjoyed it very much. Farah was such a wonderful character, strong in her own way, sweet, caring, thoughtful, gentle and kind-hearted. She may come from a rich background but she certainly didn’t acted like a rich, spoiled woman. No! She’s a very warm woman, who’s looking for a home, love and friends. And I’m so happy that she found that in this small town! Cannon’s character was great too, alpha, respectful, interesting, protective and sexy. I liked the chemistry between Farah and Cannon and their interaction with the secondary characters. Their family and friends were fantastic too. I really loved them. You really felt the love, the friendship, the connection between everyone. I can’t wait to read more about them in the next books. In this story we got both POV’s (but a bit more of Farah than Cannon).
This book is a great start of a new series.
This book was everything I was missing in my life. It was my first Jessica Prince book and I absolutely loved it and fell in love with her writing. I was no glad I took the chance on this new author cause it will not be my last.
It has romance and a little angst, a little mystery and suspense and lots of hot chemistry and combustible sexy times. I loved the story and how it progressed and the slow burn. You could feel Cannon and Farah’s instant chemistry the moment their eyes met across the room. These two were perfect together. And when Cannon called her Hummingbird I melted into a pool of goo.
This was a beautiful small town romance with everything your little romantic heart will need. I cannot wait for more in the Redemption series. Jessica definitely opened some things up for potential growth in the series.
Jessica Prince became one of my favorite one-click authors very quickly. I fell in love with her Hope Valley series and slowly and surely have been gobbling up her backlist. So whenever we are notified she has a new book coming out I am always chomping at the bit to read it. Bad Alibi is the first book in her newest series, Redemption, which happens to be a spin-off of the Hope Valley series. The hero in this book, Cannon Banks, was first introduced in #6 Out of the Darkness and he had already intrigued me.
Farah Highland leaves her old life to start anew in Redemption, Tennessee. Something about this place called to her and she finally felt like she was home. Even though she was trying to start a new life, her past was still haunting her and she definitely was not ready for any romantic entanglements. Unfortunately for her, she caught the eye of local playboy, Cannon Banks.
I loved the chemistry between these two. Cannon definitely had his work cut out for him and he made some stupid mistakes along the way, but the attraction was strong. There were miscommunications and moments that frustrated me but these issues were resolved quickly and I was very satisfied with their journey.
As much as I love the Hope Valley series, I am so excited about this new series because that means more characters to read about. Bad Alibi was a definite 5-star read and I highly recommend it.
4 stars Good book.
5 She’s A New Woman in a New Town Stars!!
If you’ve read my reviews in the past then you know I’ve been reading books written by Jessica Prince since her very first book and with each book, series and characters I’m reminded why I’m a devotee of her words!
This first book in her new Redemption Series is absolutely amazing and exhilarating with all the new characters we get to meet and fall in love with. The focus of this book is Farah and Cannon and what a pair these two are! Farah has come to Redemption after a life changing event to start her life over. She’s determined to stand on her own two feet away from her parents that I just want to slap upside the head. But never fear she has two people that absolutely love and adore her and they are a major thread in this book.
When Farah hits town she realizes quickly that things are even more different than she was expecting and one of those things is Cannon Banks. He’s quite literally a man-whore in every sense of the word and he confirms this over and over again…even if he is attracted to her he knows she wants more than he can give or that he even wants to think about giving! But that doesn’t stop him from keeping an eye on her and letting the attraction that’s between them simmering on low.
I loved that Farah stood up for herself with this man. She’s done being walked all over and Cannon is in the right place at the right time for her to express how she really feels for the first time in a long time. What’s also evident is that even though she’s got this tough exterior it’s there to protect her and oh my stars when it all comes out my heart truly hurt for this woman.
I loved everything about this story. Even the fact that these two were like oil and water it just makes their coming together that much hotter. All the characters in this book are so pivotal to this story. We get to know the ins and outs of this small town and who the movers and shakers are so to speak. The relationship Farah has with her brother Jace and Bennett the man that’s been a constant in her life from the very beginning was incredibly beautiful. Their love for this girl and wanting her to come into her own when she moves far away from her family and their money was perfection. I loved how none of them bandied about their incredible wealth.
What it all comes down to is that a second chance at a love that she wasn’t looking for in a small town that she’s fallen in love with allows Farah to become the woman she’s always wanted to be. There’s new characters for me to love and swoon over and maybe become a little obsessed about too. This book is right up in my Top Five by Ms. Prince and I cannot wait to read Crazy Beautiful!
Sweet Romance | Small Town Romance
Bad Alibi by Jessica Prince is a sweet, small town romance. This is my first foray in Jessica’s books, and I am THRILLED I decided to take a chance on a new author. This book is pure perfection. If you’ve read any of the authors previous books, then I have to say LUCKY YOU! Experiencing her books are like falling in love for the first time. I wish I started reading her from the beginning because I can tell she’s going to be a top favorite author of mine going forward. Thankfully though, I can go back to the beginning and fulfill my needs with the rest of her novels. I may even be buying them in bulk paperbacks because of how much I LOVED this book. Sigh. I cannot recommend it enough!
If you’re a fan of the uber protective, alpha hero then Cannon is going to steal your heart. Cannon at first comes off as a playboy- he sleeps around, doesn’t stick with the same woman twice, and doesn’t see any one woman occupying his heart anytime soon. Typical hero one would think but he is so much MORE than this. Cannon may not THINK he wants love, but when the RIGHT woman walks into his life (Farah) he has no choice because the heart wants what it wants.
Farah is our struggling heroine. She may have more money than she’ll ever need in one lifetime but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s never had the love and affection that every person needs (especially when it comes to her cold parents). Not only this, she’s hiding a devastating secret that is slowly eating away at her. Readers will FEEL her struggles and want to dive right into the book and give her a hug. Luckily, in moving to Redemption, Farah finds more than just a beautiful small town to call home. She meets people she can confide in, friends she can trust, and even a man who has the potential to heal her shattered heart.
The way Cannon and Farah come together is absolutely beautiful. There are some emotional moments for sure, but this book is truly a work of art. I fell hard for these two and I can only imagine what the rest of the series is going to do to my heart and I seriously cannot WAIT. Ladies, if you miss out on this book your missing out on a gem! This is a sweet, powerful, and gorgeous read. I can’t wait for more!
I’ve been a fan of Jessica Prince’s since first reading her Civil Corruption series over a year ago (if you haven’t read that, go get iiiiit!). Since then, not only have I read every books she’s released but I went back and binged her backlist. She can do no wrong in my reader eyes, and BAD ALIBI proves yet again why I adore her books.
First in her new Redemption series–that’s a spin-off from her utterly amazing Hope Valley series (again, go get iiiiit!)–BAD HABIT is the story of a Farrah Highland, a woman who has survived a terrible crime and is determined to start over on her own feet, on her own terms and in her own strength. Which brings her to a new town, a new job as a waitress and to the attention of town playboy, Cannon Banks. Having just broken off a bad, stifling relationship, she isn’t eager to get involved with another man–especially one who is gorgeous woman catnip. But Cannon isn’t one to give up so easily. And he wants Farrah, who effects him in ways no other woman has.
From the very first moment, the chemistry between Farrah and Cannon was palatable and combustible. I FELT it through my Kindle. And not just physical, but the emotional connection was so…vital. Like, these two *had* to be together. Sigh. It kept me desperate to read along with the strong plot. Then there was Farrah herself. She was so incredibly strong, resilient and scarred. But she was a fighter, a survivor. And Cannon, with his protective nature, didn’t seek to smother that spirit. He nurtured it even as he willingly placed himself between her and anything–or anyone–that would seek to hurt her. Jessica Prince did what she always does–write amazing characters, both main and secondary, as well as a beautiful, memorable story. And there was a twist at the end that I totally didn’t see coming! If you love Kristen Ashley, then you’ll easily love all of Jessica Prince’s small town romances, including BAD ALIBI!
CW: Rape. It’s not described on the page but mentioned several times and in flashes of memory/nightmares.

Bad Alibi by Jessica Prince is a breath of fresh air. I love the down to earth romance that unfolded. Although this was an MC book, I didn’t feel like it was shoving it down your throat. Don’t get me wrong, I love those kinds of MC books, but it was nice to focus on the small-town love affair.
I also enjoyed the small details like Crash, and how he came into Farah’s life. Bad Alibi was definitely one of my favorites! I can’t wait for the next one.
Farah was raised in a world that was very unlike her. All she wanted was love and affection but that wasn’t approved. She had to act a certain way and look a certain way to please her parents. An epically bad situation one night is the straw that broke the camel’s back. She packed up and went to the one place that she felt may feel like home, Redemption, Tennessee.
Cannon is a bad boy player, part of the local MC and loves to enjoy the ladies. When a new girl comes to town, that won’t give him the time of day, he is intrigued and must get to know her better. Yet every step they take forward, she pushes him ten steps back.
When Farah’s past starts to follow her, will she be able to choose Cannon? Or will she just fall into that sad world of her past again? And for that matter, will Cannon choose her?
I feel like with each new book that Jessica puts out I keep saying the same thing: this is her best book yet! I guess it is a good thing I say yet because the woman keeps getting better.
Bad Alibi is the first book in the Redemption series and it is yet another town I would love to go live in. Full of colorful characters and people you just want to go and hang out with this book and town will grab hold of you tightly.
I love the strength that Jessica gives her characters. You feel for them and start rooting for them right away.
Bad Alibi is a sexy, sweet romance that will pull at your heart and leave you eager to return to the town of Redemption.
