Couldn’t through this one.
I finished it but will not read another in the series. The characters and story line are not believable.
This book evoked south Florida so well, and had such well-developed characters, that I went back and go he whole set after I received this one free.
I found the characters and events interesting. How the evidence was discovered was a surprising twist. If you enjoy mysteries with the authority figures using their knowledge and instinct, you will enjoy.
Good read
There was more detail about boats and navigating them than the charaters.
Good series
I grew up in the south Florida area and spent a lot of time in the Biscayne ay and the Florida Keys. It brought me back to my childhood.
Just finished this book and really enjoyed it. The character development was not repetitive in that as the story progressed and you learned things about each character the previous information was not repeated so the flow was always building. The plot was slightly predictable but the ending was unique to this story.
I am looking forward to reading the net books in this series.
I enjoyed the interaction of lots of characters , which kept me guessing until the end. Just a little romance added spice; this backwater whodunit was a good one.
My first experience with Steven Becker. I loved this book. I read Backwater Bay and then proceeded through the rest of the series. This author is now on my must read list. Keep ’em coming!
Good summer read.
Good read, kept my interesr
Great stories and realistic description of South Florida life.
I loved this book! Great characters, good plot, and nice unraveling. Just enough ‘early relationship tension’ to make it feel real, Kurt’s conflict with the lazy overbearing glory grabbing boss, and coworker rivalry with a polar opposite character. And Kurt Hunter, who is equal parts California laid back and good investigator. I’d love to have a beer with him, but there’s no way he’s ever borrowing my boat.
I originally got hooked on Steven Becker’s Mac Travis titles, and glad that he has yet another great series in parallel with it. You can always depend on Becker to deliver a good read, just as you can depend on those heavy summer afternoon south Florida rainstorms that he describes so well. Now it’s on to Backwater Channel for me because it’s time for a little binge reading.
An easy read for those who love mysteries surrounded by the Florida waterways.
What happens when a Park Ranger has to move from one side of the country to the other? Plenty, when he finds a murder victim!
Good story. Liked the South Florida locale. Liked the protagonist.
Loved it!!
Started reading after finishing another semi-interesting sci-fi anthology and before I realized it I was at 32%?…I love it when an author can hook you quickly.
