“Raw emotion, nonstop action, and relentless pacing makes Backlash another one-night read from Brad Thor, who delivers the book to beat in 2019.” –The Real Book Spy #1 New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and #1 Publishers Weekly bestselling author Brad Thor is back with his most gripping thriller yet! In ancient texts, there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly … there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were considered part angel, part demon. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back.
They were fearless; men of honor who have been known throughout history by different names: Spartan, Viking, Samurai.
Today, men like these still strike from the shadows. They are highly prized intelligence agents, military operatives, and assassins.
One man is all three.
Two days ago, that man was crossed–badly.
Now, far from home and surrounded by his enemy, Scot Harvath must battle his way out.
With no support, no cavalry coming, and no one even aware of where he is, it will take everything he has ever learned to survive.
But survival isn’t enough. Harvath wants revenge.
In the most explosive novel Brad Thor has ever written, page after captivating page of action, intrigue, loyalty, and betrayal will keep you hooked until the very last sentence.

Cursing to this extent is kind of new for Harvath. Too many places with the “F-Bomb” for little or no reason
One of the best stories in a long time to come around. A variety of emotions thru-out the story. I definitely can say this is the best book by this author so far. Not being biased because it is the latest, just the story line was easy to follow and very enjoyable wit a great mix of emotions when finished
Brad Thor continues his amazing saga of Harvath, the man who never quits. I love the thought and passion that must go into his books. I realize that this book and the others in the series are fiction, however, when I read them, I am reminded that somewhere out there in the darkness there are those who sacrifice their own hopes and dreams so the rest of us can sleep safely.
In his typical style, Thor writes yet another thriller.
A fun read; but, another heart wrenching loss by the lead character starts the reader off on a literary ride. As usual, overcoming incredible odds our hero balances the scales with those who tried to destroy him and harm our nation.
Fast action across Russian countryside in winter taxes Scott Harvath to his limits and beyond. With the aid of good people and incredible survival skills escape after escape
brings a fast paced read to a satisfying; but, too rapid a conclusion.
I was disappointed as there was not much of a story in this book. There was over 150 pages of survival techniques which while important without more story was frustrating!
Another home run from Brad Thor!
Thor ups the ante by putting his protagonist, Scot Harvath—a former Navy SEAL and now a partner in a private Black Ops network called the Carlton Group—in so much danger that readers will be left gasping at every plot twist.
This particular book is a perfect storm of loss, grief, spy games, and epic journey home. Not to mention a pack of hungry wolves. (I kid you not!)
The latest Harvath installment is an incredible read, and fans of the espionage thriller genre will lose sleep racing toward its conclusion. This tale compels readers to venture through most every human emotion as they ride along, alternately cheering its heroes and wishing ill and misfortune on the villains. If you haven’t preordered this book, you’re only cheating yourself!
For readers of 2018’s release, SPYMASTER, this is the book you’ve been waiting for to save you from that last cliffhanger. I assure you it’s been well worth the wait, but there’s no way you saw this story coming.
Thor’s newest novel in this series is fresh, timely, and relevant. Despite being the 19th in the ongoing Scot Harvath saga, it’s also a great introduction to this universe for new readers. He’s done a terrific job of making this an excellent standalone story that an unfamiliar audience will enjoy almost as much as his most obsessed superfans. By design, writers are most cruel to the most important and beloved characters in their universe, and this story is no exception. Harvath is made to endure and overcome obstacles that exist only in the deepest fear-laden recesses of our minds. He has to face everything, including death and dishonor, in order to survive, much less to actually succeed.
It seems that most of Thor’s colleagues began crafting Russia-US conflict/renewed Cold War stories 2-3 years ago for publication in 2019; Thor’s take, though, is sufficiently unique that it stands out even from within that prestigious and exceptional field. The quality of his storytelling only further separates him from an accomplished and worthy crowd.
After the end of BACKLASH, I have to know what’s next for Harvath and his merry union of patriots and heroes, so I now impatiently await next year’s adventure.
