From Bestselling author Virginia Gray comes a wonderfully entertaining and completely absorbing love story…Susan never planned on a husband, kids, or a small-town address. Her dream involved a giant corner office and a full spread in Forbes Magazine. But for reasons defying understanding, she has agreed to marry her former rival, Pete Walsh, move to the tiny community of Havelock, and become … rival, Pete Walsh, move to the tiny community of Havelock, and become part of his enormous (and highly opinionated) family.
But marital bliss can be a fleeting thing. When the opportunity for company advancement arises, Susan is forced to choose between her personal wants and her family’s needs.
Pete never realized that marrying Susan meant marrying her career as well. He’s a simple guy with a simple dream of settling down and raising a family. But when he learns Susan doesn’t share his vision, marriage becomes harder than either of them imagined.
Can Susan find a way to have it all? Can Pete come to terms with her decisions? And whatever happened to happily-ever-after? Find out in…Back Where I Belong

I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself now that The Susan Wade Saga has come to an end. A refreshingly fantastic series, and probably the best I’ve read in this genre in years. I was completely overwhelmed by The Carrot (#2) and couldn’t imagine how this one could possibly be better, but somehow Virginia Gray has closed off the trilogy with glorious hilarity. All the characters we have come to adore are deliberately and divinely developed further. Unfortunate incidents and the making of poor decisions are just as frequent and just as poignant and moving, and there are some beautiful surprises throughout. This is a beautifully written story that will leave you on the edge of your seat and guessing right until the very end.
This romantic comedy reads like something you would see on television. Pete and Susan will have you going through a wide range of emotions as their story unfolds before you. It is a well written story that captures your heart and has you on the sideline cheering for this couple. I voluntarily agreed to receive an /arc of this book for an honest review.
Virginia Gray, ‘Back Where I Belong’.
As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy and promised an honest review. Here it is.
Rating: 4,5 stars (of 5).
In general: Original love story.
Main character: Virginia Wade (31).
She’s an ambitious manager of a top computer services company with branches all over the US and in some foreign countries. Her partner is Peter Walsh, an architect.
In the book prior to ‘Caught up in Me’ the author told us how Virginia and Pete fell in love and described their ‘happy end’.
This sequel ‘Back where I Belong’ is quite another book. Not the usual love story of a second chance romance, friends/enemies to lovers or a billionaire falls for poor student/intern/PA/single mom. No, this book starts with the ‘happy end’: Pete on his knee with the proposal and then the wedding plus exotc honeymoon. Returned at home both are still deeply in love, but keeping this love intact during the troubles of everyday life appears to be more difficult than expected.
Unforeseen events, too little communication about important purchases and other big decisions, difficulties in balancing free time and the requirements of an ambitious career cause a lot of stress and complications.
Virginia Gray creates an original plot in which she explains how – with high ups and deep downs – Virginia and Pete find their way. The reader sees the growing insight of the lovers, their caring for each other but their problems becoming more serious despite their compromises.
All this is told with feeling and the author creates many credible, interesting side characters. Perhaps the bad personality – Kirsten – and the lousy HR policy of Virginia’s company are a bit overdone, but this is overshadowed by the humor, the good dialogues and the exciting plot with unexpected twists.

Back Where I Belong by Virginia Gray is book three in the Susan Wade series. Each book just gets better and better. These are definitely not stand alone books. Go back and read Suddenly Susan first and read your way through the series. This book was very well written. It is very funny but also has wonderful depth. I laughed and cried through it. I can’t wait to read more by Ms. Gray.
