I truly appreciate this novel! I think it would be fun to time travel. I wish that we could do it in the real world because I know where I’d go!! The Edwardian era to meet the Titanic and her sisters!! How cool that would be!!
The people of that era fascinate me.
But honestly, I can’t imagine myself dressed in their fine clothing. I’d certainly feel out of place. I’d be more inclined to travel 3rd class but not on Titanic. Olympic would be fine with me.
I think I’d love to meet some of the people especially Captain Smith.
I loved the characters in this book especially Eva. She’s just so delightful!! I even snickered at her trying her ” opinions” on Oliver! I could just imagine the thoughts running through his head lol!! And his expressions!! How scandalous!!
Eva sort of reminds me of Rose on the movie Titanic. Very opinionated. But eventually Lady Eva learns.
But really Eva is a lot like me voicing my opinion and later regretting it. She’s special.
Oliver is just as interesting! I love that he doesn’t try to force Eva to behave properly like the ladies of the Regency period are supposed to.
I can also see Oliver’s expressions too. Especially when he gazed at Lady Eva.
How wonderful it would be to have a love like that?!
I got this weird feeling that I too was going back and forth in time. I even got dizzy once!!
I wonder what would happen if we really can travel back in time to any place we want? Would we remain the same, desinagrate, or be our younger selves?
This topic certainly left me thinking about things like what it’s.
I love stories that leave you thinking about them after your done reading them!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. NO compensations were received and all opinions are my own.
This was a delightful regency/modern time-travel romance. I love the idea of the Twickenham Estate, run by fae who protect the place where magic bleeds into the mortal realm- and allow the accidental travelers to move through a painting to a different time every full moon.
There is something to be said about the idea of finding a proper, English lord to fall in love with- and it seems that proper, English lords are rather fond of flirtatious, independent American women from the future, too. Watching our hero and heroine explore whether or not their attraction could survive the differences that not even the hero was aware of was fascinating. And his shock over her desire to kiss an earl being on her bucket list was the best thing ever.
Seeing everyone’s mutual friendships and what they would do for mere acquaintances to help with culture shock was also touching. It makes one wonder- would you be willing to give up modern conveniences to have an old-fashioned happily ever after?
I received a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
Back to His Lordship is a fun Twickenham escape through time. It is always interesting to see the cultural differences highlighted so well. The idea of a bucket list must have been a foreign thing to someone from the Regency era, yet, he helps her with hers nonetheless. I love Jen Geigle Johnson’s books and this little escape did not disappoint. It was also nice to see characters from previous books that I had gotten to know.
I have always dreamed of going back in time to the Regency period. Evaline Johansen, our heroine, in Back To His Lordship by Jen Geigle Johnson has that incredible opportunity. The story is so fun to read, and speaks to the heart of every Regency book lover! It was incredible to be able to see through the eyes of someone from my time a ride in a carriage, the workings of a Regency ball, and to better understand the rules that govern Regency society. I enjoyed Back to His Lordship from cover to cover.
The magic in Back to His Lordship takes place through Twickenham Manor. This book is part of a bigger series relating to time travel. I can not wait to read the whole series.
I highly recommend Back to His Lordship. Your time will not be wasted.
I was given this book by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.
I’m always up for a good romance novel. This one has a bit of a twist, because it’s about a contemporary woman who travels back to Regency times. I loved that part of the plot! It’s just a fun idea.
This book features Evaline, Eva. She’s heading to England to visit her friend, Anna. There are so many fun guys, parties, and it’s England! She glimpses a portrait of herself in a gallery, one she’s never seen before. And before you know it, she’s gone back in time.
One thing I really loved about Eva was the way she was so adaptable. She had no trouble switching from modern to Regency England. And, in fact, loved Regency more. It didn’t hurt that she met Oliver, Lord Hereford.
I liked Oliver as well. He’s a true gentleman. I loved how he was so traditional. These two made me laugh out loud in certain places because of how different they were. But they just worked.
Another great thing was that the characters from Dating the Duke, Jane and Algernon are in this one as well. So much fun!
I definitely need to read more of these Twickenham Regency Romances.
I was sent a copy of Back to His Lordship as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.
I never thought I would enjoy a time travel series, but I have really enjoyed Twickenham and Aunt Nellie and I missed her in this story. She’s always been one of my favorite characters. If you’re not really familiar with time travel and fae magic you will probably want to read some of the first books in the series to understand how it all works. Eva has always dreamed of living in the Regency era and she gets her chance. I thought it was funny how much she knew about the era, but didn’t seem to understand society rules. Oliver is such a proper gentleman and finds her refreshing. Their story is fun and sweet. I really enjoyed it, but had quite a few questions about that last chapter. I hope they get cleared up later. Now I need to read Jane and Algie’s story. It’s been on my TBR pile for a while.
I will not summarize this story because that information was already given in the description of this book and I do not want to give the plot away.
What I liked:
• The author caught my attention right from the beginning and drew me into the story.
• Lady Eva’s and Oliver’s banter was witty and fun. However, it was hard to connect with them because the plot lacked depth.
• The supporting cast of characters added dimension to the story. They were very well fleshed out and they played active roles in this book.
• The pacing of this story was good. Not too fast nor too slow. There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done and easy to visualize and to feel.
• The story was well edited with just a few minor mistakes that did not interfere with story comprehension.
• This was a clean read and I appreciate that.
If you have read any of the other Twickenham time travel romances, this one does not have the uniqueness and depth that many of the others have. Because this novel was predictable, I did not enjoy it as much as the other stories in the series.
I was given a free copy of this book. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own.
When Evaline Johansen’s friend Anna invites her to attend a masquerade ball at Twickenham Manor, she packs her favorite Regency renenactment gown and an old journal, which contains her Regency bucket list, and flies to England. She finds a picture of herself at Twickenham Manor and the next thing she knows she’s 200 years in the past.
None of the women have captured Lord Oliver Hereford’s attention enough to make him want to get married, despite the pleas from his mother, until he meets the unknown “Lady Eva”. She’s so different than all the other women at the ball, but sometimes she uses words that are strange to him.
This was a little different than the other Twickenham books I’ve read in that Aunt Nellie only makes a few appearance. I kind of missed her “time is a fuzzball” explanations. I wondered how Eva and Oliver would get together since she came back to 2020 without him and his attempt to follow her didn’t quite work out. I loved Eva’s Regency bucket list and how she managed to check off so many items on it.
I like the Twickenham time travel romances because they’re sheer fantasy. I love certain aspects of the Regency time but I wouldn’t want to live there permanently, so being able to time hop would give me the best of both worlds.
I love the Twickenham books! Each one is unique and so enjoyable to read. I loved the characters in this one. A wonderful sweet and clean love story. The ending was perfect and so happy. I recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
