What is The Bachelor Society? It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified. We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually…
Rules are involved. Prizes.
Laugh it up, but I’m no loser. Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would be for Abbott. Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.

Never judge a book by it’s cover or in this case a title. This book was so not what I expected, it got off to a slow start where we meet the Bachelors but then we meet Abbott. I don’t think I have liked a female character so much so quickly, she is quirky with a capital Q. I adored the way Sara wrote her, despite her privileges she was down to earth a girl I could easily be friends with. Brooks is a bit of an idiot when we first meet him and I found myself giggling at him and the other guys because they were just ridiculous. The banter between them was perfect it set the tone for the whole story and their relationship. We can’t forget Nan we all need a Nana just like her. Looking forward to the next book in this new series.
Romcom are my jam! They are the type of books that can always put you in a good mood! And let me just say Bastard Bachelor Society is full of laugh out loud moments! I really loved the dynamic this guys club had! Three friends who have known each other for a long time and hang out and take jab at each other. It was a great bromance to read about. With that say, I wish we got more of that throughout the story! I did enjoy the story between Abbott and Brooks and how their relationship developed. There was a certain spark I was missing though. And the cat…my feeling are still up in the air on Desdemona. While I liked the cat, there were moments I kinda rolled my eyes at. Overall, I did enjoy the story. It fit the romcom check box for sure but it was missing just a little more to push it to five stars. But I am excited to see where the author takes this series!
4.5 stars
Brooks has sworn off relationships. After his latest girlfriend dumps him, he comes up with a plan with his friends and the Bastard Bachelor Society is born, but with it comes rules. No girlfriends, no dating, no spending too much time together, you get the idea. It shouldn’t be a problem for Brooks and it’s not…until he meets his neighbour Abbott.
I wasn’t immediately won over by Brooks, I found him quite immature and a little irritating if I’m honest to begin with. The book didn’t grab me from the first page like I was expecting. And then Abbott appeared and just like Brooks I wanted more of her. I suddenly couldn’t put this book down. I needed to know how their story was going to turn out. Abbott is one of the funniest female characters I’ve read. She’s kind, quirky, down to earth and unbelievably easy to like. The banter between her and Brooks is brilliant and I loved the slow burn flirty friends to more romance their story gave me.
This is a great start to this new series and I definitely recommend this especially if you’re looking for a funny entertaining read. I can’t wait for more from this series and for the other guys stories.
Sometimes Losing Is Winning
Losing his most prized possession or gaining it? Brooks Bennett is about to discover what’s most important.
Three bachelors form their own society and set some rules. Whoever breaks the rules and falls in love, loses his most priced possession. The last man standing takes all. Simple right? Brooks thinks he’s a genius. He plans on winning it all.
Abbott just discovered her neighbor. When they meet, Bennett forces his friendship on her by inviting himself over for some free food. Brooks likes what she offers, quick wit and easy banter. Abbott doesn’t take his crap and can dish it right back. And so their story begins.
He’s adamant about keeping things platonic, even though all he can think about is getting her naked. His master plan is backfiring big time. Now Bennett is going to have to decide what he’s willing to give up.
Abbott was independent, fun, successful and totally endearing. Her intelligence was one of her best qualities. She was bold and honest with her feelings and I loved that about her. Bennett started off as a total jerk. As time progressed he won me over. He was just searching for someone to love who would love him back. They started out as friends and that developed into attraction. They shared chemistry and they resisted until Abbott took a risk and made it impossible for Bennett to deny her.
A fun friends-to-lovers read with a great couple that will make you laugh and smile. Oh and a sassy cat that thinks he rules the world.
Brooks Bennett is a different person than he was 6 months ago. He’s then girlfriend ghosted him, and to say his a littler bitter is an understatement. He and his two friends decide to come up with a society. They’ll meet every week for drinks and cigars, and they have to abide by a set of rules, or they forfeit something they value. This should be no problem for Brooks, until he meets the one girl that could make him lose it all.
Abbott Margolis is beautiful and a little socially awkward, but in the best way. She comes from a very different background than Brooks, and their first encounter is less than ideal. However from that first encounter, Abbott discovers that Brooks isn’t quite the bastard he claims to be. As Brooks and Abbott spend more time together, just as friends, their attraction to each other becomes hard to ignore. Is Abbott worth losing to his friends for, or will Brooks lose the girl to win the bet?
Sara Ney, she never disappoints. Her books never fail to make me laugh, and this book did that and more. Brooks is a hero that you know behind that exterior is really a sweetheart, and Abbott is full of quirks and is super hilarious. But I’ll tell you who almost stole the show for me, Nan. Nan was hysterical and scheming and I loved every scene that she was in. This was a great kickstart to a new series for Sara Ney and I. Am. Here. For. It. I can’t wait to see we get in the next book!
BBS…rocks!!
Who would have thought that the guy who came up with a NO dating club called Bastard Bachelor Society would find himself in such a position. Brooks is certain that he will never date and never fall in love again. Along comes his sweet neighbor Abbott and her demon cat Desi. This book has such a unique concept and I loved every minute of it. Pick up this book and see how it all plays out with Brooks and Abbott, you won’t be disappointed!!
Another quirky and light read by Sara Ney. Brooks and Abbot were quite cute together. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t liked Brooks right at the beginning. He seem to be a bit of a “bully” with his friends when they started their society. But as he started spending time with Abbot we get to see another side to him and when he (finally) confesses his feelings??! Swoon… Now let’s talk about my girl Abbot – she was my kinda girl. She gave back as good as she got. She knew her worth and wouldn’t settle for less. She was sassy, quirky and simply amazing.
I like this start to the series and I excited to see where will she takes us with it.

A cute, sweet romantic comedy. Brooks is the typical idiot bachelor type. Down on romance since he was dumped and mad at coupledom. Abbott is the smart and sassy rich girl whose never been great a finding true love. When these two finally discover they’re neighbors, will they find someone to fight the loneliness? I laughed quite a bit during this book and found their friendship pretty enjoyable. It was a fun read with low angst and I just wish there’d been a bit more details about Abbott’s work and conflict. Or Brooks’ friends and the “society”. But overall it was a quick and easy romcom and made me smile.
If you enjoy a light hearted, sweet and humorous friends to lovers romantic comedy, look no further than Bachelor Bastard Society.
Brooks and Abbot are an endearing, and charming yet awkward pair of characters that captivated my attention from start to finish. I loved the slow build of their relationships, from neighbours, to friends to more. Brooks is cocky, and confident, but also quite sweet, and Abbot is intelligent, sassy and intelligent.
Their banter is engaging and fun. Their chemistry is undeniable and their interactions are full of flirtation, sass and humorous one liners.
The side characters are appealing and fun, particularly Nan in all her matchmaking glory, and I look forward to seeing more of this pair in future additions to this series.
Sara Ney has been on my TBR forever so I thought this new series would be a great starting point for me.
Brooks and Abbott’s story definitely had some interesting characters, including a cat who gets her (or is it his) own POV for a few chapters.
This book was light and fun. Abbott’s quick wit was my favorite thing about this book. I definitely liked this book and I’m excited to read the next book.
How can anyone not love a story where the cat gets it’s own chapters? This was a fun rom-com to read.
Brooks and his friends come up with a dumb “society (BBS)”and a bet to stay single. What could go wrong with that? Abbott isn’t looking for a man, but she won’t say no to her hot neighbor even if he has an issue with her cat, Desdemona. Between his dumb rules, her interfering grandmother, and some alcohol, and many meals, Brooks and Abbott stumble into love. This story is swoony, sweet and funny. Will Brooks forfeit his membership in the “society” for a future with Abbott, you will have to read this to find out.
This one is a good read. Brooks sets up the Bastard Bachelor Society with his friends, Phillip, and Blaine. These three are great friends and definitely have the potential to get into a lot of trouble together. There are a bunch of rules for the Bastard Bachelor Society but the main rule is to stay single. They have a lot at stake if they lose. Each guys has put up some pretty hefty things that they have to give if they lose. Brooks thinks he has winning in the bag because he came out of a relationship and doesn’t want to get into one again. Brooks at first came off as super confident and it made him seems cocky. It took me a little to warm up to liking him. Abbott is a down to earth girl. She is Brooks neighbor. They become friends. They have great banter and chemistry. They both want more then friendships and we get to slowly see that Brooks might not have winning the bet with his friends in the bag like he thought he would.
Bastard Bachelor Society is the start of a new series from Sara Ney and from the start of this book I am DYING for more. The BBS was hilarious, sweet, and swoony.
Brooks Bennett is done with relationships after his last one ended, so why not create a secret society with your two best friends? Well, he hasn’t met his neighbor yet….Abbott is hard working. She comes form a wealthy family, but does everything she can to prove she can do things on her own.
Brooks and Abbott are AMAZING. These two have chemistry, their banter is on point and I honestly love everything about them individually and together. They play off each other and it is perfect. Their friendship is effortless and quickly develops. Through in Desi and Nan and you’ll be laughing until you’re crying.
BBS is a MUST READ. Whether you’ve read Sara Ney or not this is one to check out! You’ll fall in love with Brooks and Abbott plus the rest of their crazy crew.
Bastard Bachelor Society was a fun read. I enjoyed it, and I was glad that I got to read this one.
Brooks is heartbroken and just miserable. So he comes put with the brilliant idea of the Bastard Bachelor Society. Where he and his friends have to be single or lose a bet, it always starts great with a bet that you know won’t end well.
Abbott is a woman who is successful with a crazy grandma. And a cat, whose equally hilarious. They start as friends and quickly realize that it wasn’t going to work out.
This is an excellent start to a new series.
Overall, I give this Four Boundless Stars
This book was a deliciously light hearted, adorable romp. I absolutely loved it. Brooks is a beautifully damaged, sexy as sin, LOL funny, single man. Looking to wallow in self pity he and his buddies form a club – The Bastard Bachelor Society – an ode to old school men’s clubs and good old Hugh Hefner. OMG they are all kinds of stupid but you can’t help but laugh at them and love them. Abbott is all kinds of adorable. She is quirky with a side of sweet. Completely oblivious of her sex appeal she exudes love and warmth. These two very different people form a special friendship – neighbor with benefits. Those benefits include verbal sparring, comfy couches, and lots of lots of shared meals. They are so freakin’ cute together. Add in her grandmother Nan and her cat with a thousand names (Desi McTerrorPuss is my personal favorite) and you have yourself a laugh out loud love story that will have you smiling from page 1. TBR this incredible book and enjoy. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
3.5 Stars.
Abbott and Brooks are the first couple in this new series by Sara Ney. Abbott is from New York old money with a close family and Brooks grew up struggling but makes good for himself. This part was refreshing as it is normally the hero that has all the money and power. They meet in the lobby of their apartment block and find out they are neighbours on the same floor. They form a friendship and start to spend a lot of time together.
This book is centered mainly on these two, but there are some fun secondary characters too. One being Abbott’s nan, who is a determined matchmaker but brings gifts to soften the blow. Abbott has a cat that may or may not like her, who knows as it’s a cat! Brooks has two best friends whom he starts a gentleman’s club (society) with and wagers a bet who can stay single the longest. Even though Brooks had been hurt from a previous relationship that got him to this stage, the fact they created the society was a very douchey thing to do and the three of them came out looking bad.
The storyline was a little fast and somewhat forced to begin with, but I settled in and started to connect with the characters. Brooks wasn’t a douchbag really and they way he wanted to be apart of Abbott’s world was sweet. Most of the book takes place at either Abbott or Brook’s apartment and I would have like to see them venture out more. I felt there wasn’t anything new or surprising happen within the storyline and I was hoping for something more. Did I enjoy the book, for sure. There were some funny parts and even a little angst. Will I try the next book in the series, most likely as I’m hoping she can make these other two friends more lovable.
Book 1 in The Bachelors Club and if this book is anything to go by Sara Ney will have a hit series on her hands. If you are looking for a story that will have you laughing out loud and leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat look no further than this book.
Brooks has sworn off women after being burnt too many times so with his best friends The Bachelors Club is formed, it’s the perfect club for men not looking for relationships or love but the problem is we have no control over feelings and when Abbott walks into Brooks life all bets are off……
This book has lots going for it, I loved the adorable quirky characters, the witty banter and what can I say about the hilarious meddling Nan who has no filter on what comes out of her mouth apart from I wish this woman was my Nan. I laughed, I giggled, I swooned and at times I held my breath as this couple embarked on their journey to their HEA, all in all I really enjoyed this entertaining read.
Neighbors to Lovers | Romantic Comedy
My first thought after finishing Bastard Bachelor Society was, I NEED MORE. Not because the book isn’t complete (it is- there is no cliffhanger) but because I am IN LOVE WITH THIS WORLD. Sara Ney has written a HILARIOUS neighbors to lovers romance with this book and I was giggling the whole way through. Not only that, I felt so connected to Brooks and Abbott (she’s a girl, don’t let the name fool you). I think this is because I saw a little of myself in both of them! Their sense of humor, the way the act when around each other, and the silly things they do had me in a fit of giggles. I’m telling you; my stomach was ACHING because of the amount of laughter coming from the depth of my soul!!!! AH!!! If you’re a fan of romantic comedies, you won’t want to miss this book! It’s so much more than the title (I’ll admit, it made me think this was another DB book). READ. THIS. BOOK!
Abbott and Brooks are neighbors. They live across the hall from one another and have hit it off from their first “meeting”. It may not have been the best meeting for Brooks, but it led to a fantastic friendship! The two spend all their time together as JUST FRIENDS and show no mercy when it comes to picking on each other. But things start to get blurry when they decide to try out an extreme cuddle… and their vastly important friendship may lead to something neither of them really wanted in the first place…
How the Bastard Bachelor society fits into this story is for potential readers to find out! It may or may not leave some characters feeling a bit hesitant when it comes to romance and there’s a possibility that it stands in the way of true love. But sometimes out characters need to figure this out for themselves which is exactly what happens in BBS. You are going to LOVE IT.
Secondary characters also play a major role in this book. The first one that comes to my mind (and may even be my favorite character EVER) is Desdemona. She’s the attack cat (bahaha) of Abbotts. She may or may not have two chapters in her own POV too so… You’ll have to read it to see what that’s all about, but she really steals the show! She’s a barrel of laughs!!! Then we have Nan. She may be rich and loves spoiling those she loves but she’s also pretty aggressive when it comes to hooking her granddaughter up. Sort of reminds me of my own nan! I LOVED HER! And the other bastards? Well, here’s to hoping their books are coming soon because I honestly cannot wait!
Romcom readers, don’t miss Sara Ney’s latest! It’s a hit!
The alpha you want to hate becomes the playboy you can’t live without. Sara Ney has dibs on what looks to be the perfect book boyfriend. Brooks shouts heartbreaker from a mile away. Abbott has no idea what she’s in for. Or does she have a few tricks up her sleeve tame this beastly bad boy? Bastard Bachelor Society seduces with humor and sneaks right up on a heart. Fun, fierce, firecracker of a read.
***4 ‘Abbott, Duchess Desdamona McPurrs-A-Lot & Nan’ Stars***
This was a fun read that had me snickering even while rolling my eyes and kept me turning the pages just to see Brooks fall at Abbott’s feet.
I ADORED Abbott. This woman is sweet, sassy, hard working and really down to earth. She is comfortable in her own skin and isn’t afraid to be exactly who she is. Brooks. As much as I liked him, and in the end I did, I wasn’t totally sold on him and it’s hard to explain without spoiling anything, but he just didn’t do it for me.
As for their journey to their HEA, I actually really liked them together. I know, I’ve already stated that I’m not entirely #TeamBrooks, BUT Abbott and Brooks together were a lot of fun and just had this flow that worked for me. Of course nothing can go all that smoothly, and the roadblock they came to wasn’t a surprise, but even I went “Oh no…” and though I would have liked a bit more grovelling (totally a me thing) I did like how everything worked out for them in the end.
This was a fun read, eye roll inducing thanks to certain characters, but a fun one overall. As you can tell from my little header, I had a couple of favorite characters. Nan was AMAZING, I want to be her when I grow up and Desdamona was purrrfect. As for Brooks’ “brothers” in the “society” ~ I gotta me honest. I’m not all that impressed with them, BUT I am invested because I want to see them brought to their knees, so bring on the rest of the series!
