What is The Bachelor Society? It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified. We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually…
Rules are involved. Prizes.
Laugh it up, but I’m no loser. Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would be for Abbott. Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.

An arrogant and douchey bastard + his sexy, irresistible neighbor and her opinionated cat + one meddling Nan = Bastard Bachelor Society (BSS). This book was another hilarious tale by Sara Ney that I just couldn’t get enough of!!
Brooks Bennett is the founder of the BBS along with his two friends, Blaine and Philip. In said club they do “manly things”, wear cool smoking jackets, fake smoke cigars, and drink scotch. These boys have a wager going. Their #1 RULE: stay single. That’s just fine for Brooks. He doesn’t want anything to do with being in a relationship… that is until he meets his neighbor, Abbott.
Let’s just say that when Abbott and Brooks meet its one of those meet-cute moments. Abbott refused to hold the elevator open for him and the next time they see each other Brooks invites himself over for breakfast and they soon become fast friends. Friends who start feeling more for each other.
I loved the witty banter between Abbott and Brooks. Of course let’s not forget about Desdemona, the evil cat and Nan. With equally funny secondary characters this series is just bound to leave you feeling happy!
A sweet and fastpaced read, once again Sara shows us why she rocks at writing RomCom. I’m excited for this wonderful new series. One thing is for sure: It’s going to be a wild ride!
I hate to say it, but I struggled with this book. I’m thinking this is just one of those books that wasn’t for me.
The meet-cute aspects was definitely cute. It gave me a smile. It gave me hope that the book would pick up for me since I wasn’t feeling it at that point already. *sad face*
Listen, Brooks. Come on. He’s a chump. A poser. A wanna be. I couldn’t chive with him or his friends. When they make their little pact/society, it’s the most immature thing for the most immature reasons. I thought I was reading a scene with twelve year old boys. I just couldn’t jump on board their train.
I liked Abbott. Mostly. She’s quirky. She wants to be independent from her family’s money. She wants to be her own person. Brooks, in some ways, seems to be the person to help her gain her footing.
I guess my indifference for this book is lack of personality in the characters. They were extremely immature and unbelievable for me. Much of their actions and thoughts felt under developed. I didn’t feel a connection with or for them.
Overall, I can see the appeal to this book that has readers loving it. It has some giggle worthy parts. It’s a little cheesy–okay a lot cheesy. But hey, some people like that. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I fell into the latter in this case. *shoulder shrug*
If you are looking for a book that will have you laughing from beginning to end, Bastard Bachelor Society is the book for you. Sara Ney brings us a story straight from the pages of today’s society and she leaves no one behind.
As kids we fellas used to keep those yucky girls away from our clubs. As we grew, we realized girls were definitely where it was at and left those childish thoughts behind. Well, most fellas did anyway.
Move forward a few years and we find Brooks convincing his band of friends forming such a group again…complete with some very nice prizes for the one that last the longest.
Not sure your grandmother told you the same things mine told me, but I remember mine telling me to not worry about love cause it will find you when it is ready. She also said something about don’t be closed minded to where and how that love forms.
If those pieces of advice don’t fit this one story I am totally lost. And this story even comes with a grandmother.
This is a heartwarming story with a very valuable lesson to be learned by our hero. Yet in the end, his lessons learned are far more valuable than anything he may have lost.
Sara Ney put together a very fun story with rich characters and situations that could easily happen today. I loved it and look forward to more from he fellas of the Bastard Bachelor Society
Bastard Bachelor Society was a light-hearted, funny, and quirky romance. I loved Abbott and Brooks together. They were both individually entertaining. Put them together and the sparks just flew. Loved their chemistry and the pace in their relationship from friends to a couple.
And Nan….. was freaking awesome. What I wouldn’t give to have a Nan like that. Even Desdemona has me chuckling here and there.
4.5 stars
I utterly LOVED this book. Sara Ney has yet to disappoint me and she didn’t start with Bastard Bachelor Society. I count on Sara’s stories to offer depth, sizzle, and humor as well as a bit of snarky dialect. Bastard Bachelor Society kept me on reading from start to finish with characters who captured my attention immediately and a fun plot. While I did read this one in one sitting, I struggled slightly with connecting with the characters. I loved them—they made me laugh out loud repeatedly and offered a slow burn, frenemies to lovers storyline that I was captivated by… Yet, I wanted more. (I can’t tell you what, both to avoid spoilers and because this wasn’t my story to tell.) I certainly promise you’ll find the premise and storyline epically entertaining—how could it not be with Sara Ney’s fervor, expressive writing style and the elocution apparent within each book!?! Whether you are new to Sara Ney’s work or have ready everything in her backstock, you’ll love starting this new series with Abbot and Brooks. If you haven’t one-clicked this one already, you should do so immediately!
Bastard Bachelor Society story has been my first step into the world of Sara Ney books and seriously I’ve had so much fun with this one. This romantic, friends to lovers, comedy is one hell of a good refreshing and captivating book full of crazy and hilarious situations and quick-witted dialogs.
Everything started with the ridiculous bet between best friends and that originated the chain of events.
Brook and Abbott totally stolen my heart. I love books where main characters from the very beginning are bantering with each other in a funny way and when their slow burn relationship made me seat on the edge of anticipation, waiting for more. They’ve challenged one another but neither of them would admit their growing feelings, each one for their own reasons.
Author wrote that story from dual perspective and I need to give her credit for, that she created great female character, but male hero and his thoughts, reactions were hit in the jackpot. Both of them were strong, confidential with amusing attitude.
There were secondary characters who won me over and if I say one of them was cat named Desdemona, you’ve heard me right! Author gave it a voice and I was LMAO. Also Nan who was seventy old lady fire rocket, she rocks!
It was that kind of a book that I just couldn’t stop reading but grinning to myself and melting at the same time. If you’re a fan of rom com, I highly recommend Bastard Bachelor Society standalone book, first part of new Bachelors Club series.

I truly wonder why successful businessmen need to show off their competitive prowess by betting on ridiculous situations – ones that deal with other people who aren’t privy to these high stakes’ games and could end up breaking their heart or hurting them in ways they might not be able to endure.
In some ways, I completely understand why Brooks Bennett and his group of friends would create a society that revels in being single and promotes that kind of living until the end of days, and the fact that there are rules to follow and a club to be a part of indicates just how much Brooks and the others don’t want to be hurt by the fairer sex.
But it’s not like they swore a blood oath or anything, and while money is on the line because of their ‘friendly’ wager, when the best thing, or in this case, person walks through your door, literally, you stand up and listen…you spend every moment with that person as you can…you fall head-over-heels because there’s someone who gets you on a level you never thought possible. What you DO NOT do is friend-zone her and pretend like there’s nothing between you but friendship.
Too bad Brooks didn’t seem to get that memo until it was almost too late.
Brooks and Abbott together – no matter the situation or non-relationship status – is proof that some people just click instantly and no matter how hard they fight it or appear oblivious to their own feelings for one another, they’re bound to want to act on those feelings, throwing caution and perhaps money, out the window.
The way that Abbott and Brooks hit things off almost immediately in what has to be one of my absolute favorite meet-cutes is proof that insta-lust, probably not love, exists. And their connection only grows with the more time they spend together and the witty exchanges that seem to define just how on point they are when it comes to one another.
I will admit that Brooks rubbed me the wrong way from the start, but that’s probably by bias about the society that he and his friends created and the fact that their need to win the bet makes him, at least attempt, to push the best thing that may have ever happened to him away, caring more about everything other than the woman who seems to own him.
Abbott’s meddling sweetheart of a grandmother is one of my favorite aspects of the book, and the way she nudges her granddaughter and Brooks toward each other, every chance she gets, makes it impossible not to be in her corner, pushing these two to fess up and try ‘more,’ even if they think it won’t work. And, Grams’ relationship with Brooks also adds a layer to the perplexing man that Brooks can be at times and shows a side of him that is patient and kind and oh so swoonworthy.
I intrigued by the other ineligible bachelors and I’m ready to see them dropped squarely on their butt when their girl enters their lives and shakes up their beliefs in the society and their singledom.

4 No Dating Allowed Stars!!!
I’m not going to lie…I was a little concerned going into this book that I might not love it as much as I’ve loved Ms. Ney’s Douchebag series. Well, I’m happy to report I’m totally on board with this new series and new characters to love and laugh with!
Brooks and his two buddies create this “club” where the goal is to stay single while still having fun, but not fall in love. The premise alone makes me laugh, because this just has disaster written all over it! And boy, does his world go topsy turvy when he meets his next door neighbor Abbott who’s beautiful and easy to be friends with… I mean they “friend-zoned” each other from the get-go! Yeah, I knew that wasn’t going to last, but they gave it a valiant effort!!
These two were so perfect for each other and as they spent more and more time together it was clear to me, Brooks was totally going to lose his bet with his buddies! And boy was it fun to watch him lose!!
I loved getting to know Abbott and Brooks, his two besties, Phillip and Blaine, Abbott’s nan and her cast Desi who I chuckled at a few times. When the guys are together some of their conversations had me literally laughing out loud.
Now that I’ve been indoctrinated into BBS, I’m ready for the next book in this series!
I have to admit that I am a Big Sara Ney fan. That being said this is a great book, it made me laugh and it made me sad. Great work Sara!
Standalone with no Cliffhangers.
Brooks grew up poor but smart so he worked his buns off to be financially stable as an adult. It’s woman he struggles with, so he’ll live without them. He and his 2 best friends start a crazy club with a pact to stay single. The very next day he meets a woman that challenges that pact.
Abbott is a smart and strong woman who happens to be the granddaughter of a very rich man. She still works hard to find her place in his company. Love is harder to find. Then she meets Brooks, the Hot guy across the hall. They are only “friends”.
Loved Nan, everyone needs a grandma like her.
3.5 Stars
This is a bit of a friends to lovers romance. Neighbors that start out as friends, even though they find one another attractive. The hero, Brooks, recently dumped by his ex-girlfriend decided to start a ridiculous boys club where they all have to remain single or they lose the bet. So even though he begins having deeper feeling for Abbott, he can’t date her or he’ll lose his season tickets to their local MLB team. Yeah I know, insert eye roll here.
This was a super slow burn. They don’t even share their first kiss until about the 70% mark. Which is different for a Sara Ney book. She’s usually generous with her sexy times. Not so much here.
Loved Nan, Abbott’s grandma. She was a sneaky old bird pushing these two together. We get a couple chapters from Abbott’s cat, which was pretty funny.
HFN ending
This romcom book by author Sara Ney was so funny and had me laughing a lot. I really enjoyed the witty banter and dialogue between Brooks and Abbott. It was fun watching their friendship develop as they spent time together and the sexual tension that was felt whenever they were in the same room. But the character that was a hoot was Abbott’s grandmother. I loved her! Another great story by this author and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
Loved seeing the genius who thought up the Bastard Bachelor Society fall but he may lose it all.
Three guys who get together and decide to bet what they hold dear that they won’t fall for a woman. Not a good idea maybe in the long run but the lead man is about to eat his words. Never thinking he could find a woman to make him eat his words but there is something about Abbott that he is drawn to and can’t get enough of but she knows his kind and isn’t about to open herself up to his type.
She puts him in the friendzone right off the bat but what happens when their friendship becomes more? What is more important to Brooks, the bet or Abbott? Will he realize too late and lose it all?
Can’t wait to read the next Bastard Bachelor Society member’s story. Love to see these men fall hard.
This book had me laughing from the very beginning! Loved all the banter between Abbott and Brooks. Another scene stealer DESDEMONA!!!!! Sara Ney once again proves to me why her books will always be a must read!
Given an arc for an honest opinion
There is nobody that writes the male perspective, or for that matter a true douchebag like Sara Ney does. The fact that you love theses dumbo boys by the end is amazing. Everything about this made me laugh. I adored the character of brooks. Teddy Hamilton did this part epically. My all time favorite part is when the three guys are primping over their awesome new jackets for their “society.” I could totally see guys being ridiculous like that. Also the tie in to the old historical romances was great. NaN could have her own book, she was so fun. I need a Nan in my life. This was exactly what I needed during this quarantine. Made my heart so full and had me laughing out loud.
P.S. the cat getting its own chapters. Thank you for that!
I was first introduced to Sara Ney through her Douchebag Series and I absolutely loved her writing. I came across this new series and of course I had to one click. Abbot and Brooks story is a cute and fun story. Friends to lovers are one of my favorites, the banter between the characters always gets me and this story was right up there. Ms. Ney is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This is absolutely a must read!
4.5 stars!
I loved this book, it was just what I needed – light, fluffy, laugh-out-loud funny, slightly ridiculous and sweetly romantic. This is an angst-free, quick and easy read that left me with a big grin on my face.
This is the second book in the Bachelors Club series, about a group of three friends who form a club and make a bet as to which of them can remain single and unattached the longest.
“Is it childish that we’re doing this? Yes
Does it go against everything our parents taught us about love and relationships? Also yes.
Do we care? No.”
Phillip and Spencer are colleagues forced into cohabiting in Spencer’s office while Phillip’s undergoes renovation. It’s only for a week, but neither of them are happy about it, and though there is an attraction and they are quietly crushing on each other, it reads more like an enemies-to-lovers romance. The bantering and bickering is freaking hilarious, and I couldn’t get enough of these two going at each other over the stupidest things.
But of course things change. The bickering is hotly intermingled with flirting, and when they actually stop sniping at each other, they realise that they enjoy each other’s company. But is the promise of everything they could be worth Phillip losing out with his buddies? And how will Spencer react when she finds out about it all? Will she even give him the time of day?
It’s a fun, flirty and snarky ride, and I loved Phillip and Spencer’s story. Written in dual POV, I loved their inner monologues as much as I loved their chemistry-filled dynamic. Phillip’s friends are there of course, and Spener’s bff is so freaking funny. It’s all enhanced by the presence of Phillip’s hilarious basset hound, Humphrey, who surprisingly brings a lot to the story.
This is a really quick read, but I was fully invested, and laughed my way from start to finish. I would have like just a bit more romance, but what we get is sweet and sexy.
Lots of fun, I loved this one!
4.5 stars!
Sara’s new series the Bastard Bachelor Society is bringing some reminiscent feels from the How to Date a douchebag Series. With my love for her writing and “douche bag” in the title, how could I not adore this book?!
Abbot and Brooks have a weird friendship. From Abbots drunk elevator antics to Brooks just inviting himself into her apartment, it starts quickly and their sexual tension is evident.
But neither of them are willing to cross that line, the invisible one that could ruin the perfect thing they’ve got going. That doesn’t stop them though from pushing each other every so often. In addition to Abbots spitfire Nan pushing them closer, it’s only a matter of time on who will cross the line first?
And is Brooks willing to lose his Bachelors bet with his friends or Abbott instead…
Abbot was quirky and cute. She had some sass but was mostly all class. While Brooks was a grade A a-hole on the surface he was actually a softy. While Even though he had his super charming moments, I found him to be really whiney especially Over the cat. Which is awesome enough, Desdemona gets her own POV (hell yes!)
It’s a funny, lighthearted read that’s sexually charged. Similar to many of Sara’s other books which I loved. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for slow burn, friends to lovers romance!

Bastard Bachelor Society by Sara Ney is the first in The Bachelors Club Series.
ARC was kindly provided by the author.
“Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.”
Bastard Bachelor Society was created on a whim and randomly by Brooks Bennett with his friends. The main rule is to stay single with a lot at stake if the rule is broken. Brooks is highly confident that he is going to win the wager because he is not interested whatsoever in a relationship.
“I do the zoning in my relationships. Me. Not her.”
Brooks meet his neighbor, Abbott Margolis, in an uncanny way that she intentionally let the elevator doors close on him. Another meeting led to breakfast together at Abbott’s apartment and they quickly became friends. Just fiends….friends who spend majority of their week together. Every day they are together seems to be blurring the lines…
“A part of me wants her to question why I’m silently stripping her naked in my mind. Maybe it will lead to something we’ll regret later.”
BBS was filled with pure laughter and genuine fun time. Brooks and Abbott was just so cute together. Their banter was down right silly and they were straight to the point with each other. Each character in the book was definitely something to look forward to especially Desdemona and Nan. This was light-hearted and was super cute romance!
“If I were going to lose, it would be for a girl like her.”
Sara Ney came with another great book! This was highly entertaining and it was such a cute book! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
OMG could this book be any more sweet and funny than it already is!!?!? I love it!! When you meet Desdemona I swear you’ll lose it!!! I’ve laughed so hard that I’m seriously thinking of wearing adult diapers when I read Sara’s books from here on out!!! Hahaha
I really enjoyed this book, I laughed loads when reading it. The banter was brilliant between all characters and I wanted so much more of it. I loved the slow friendship that developed. Between Brooks and Abbott, I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion. This, Nan and that bloody cat Desdemona made this book for me.
Now although I liked this book. I think it could have been so much more than what it was. Now don’t get me wrong it not my book. I didn’t write it but I can wish for more right? I loved the idea of the story but I wished we would have seen more of the actual society rather than the small amount that we got. Maybe with the next books, we’ll see a lot more of it.
I found the characters fun and endearing. Desdemona’s chapters make you see pets differently. Do they really think like that, we will never know I guess. But it was fun to think they do.
I do recommend this book as I did enjoy it. I hope you all laugh as much as I did.
