What is The Bachelor Society? It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified. We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually…
Rules are involved. Prizes.
Laugh it up, but I’m no loser. Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would be for Abbott. Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.

Sara Ney is a new author for me. Her writing is quick paced and there is lots of chemistry between her characters, but I went back and forth between both liking the hero and hating him.
Brooks had his heart broken by his last girlfriend so he isn’t feeling great towards the female population. He has a brilliant idea to form a club with his mostly single friends, that include a bet to stay single, which they call the Bastard Bachelor Society. Around his friends Brooks wears this title pretty aggressively, but things change when he meets his neighbor, Abbott. An entirely different side emerges from Brooks and this is a guy that is very likeable.
Abbott is independent, hard working, and has no trouble speaking her mind to her neighbor Brooks. She quickly friendzones him which throws him for a loop, but their quick witted banter and easy comradery makes their friendship grow. Neither exactly want to define what is happening with all the time they are spend together since it is with their clothes on, but they also know they have crazy chemistry which they also don’t want to talk about. It’s a fun dynamic to watch, but once again, everytime Brooks gets together with his friends he reverts back to a not so likeable guy.
Together, Brooks and Abbott are fun, flirty, and the banter keeps the book moving. When Brooks is with his buddies I wanted to punch him in the face, but frankly they wouldn’t have their BBS club without that feeling, so Sara did her job in that respect. For the fact alone that most of the time is spent with Brooks and Abbot together, the book is really fun.
I have had a heck of a week and I have needed something to lighten my life, and Sara Ney just did that for me. Bastard Bachelor Society was a hilarious read, like tears streaming down my cheeks hilarious. It was so nice to read something that wasn’t so serious. Bastard Bachelor Society is a book about giving no *****. It held some of the best banter that I have ever seen, dialogue that can not even be described, and quirkiness that goes unmatched. These characters are like unlike anything I have ever read before and yet, they didn’t feel the need to be anything but themselves. To see them living so carefree and happily doing so because they own who they are, is something I needed a lesson on. I adored how well they mashed together, how much they were alike because it made their chemistry more exhilarating and exciting. Brooks and Abbott’s story flowed at the perfect pace, throw in Desi and it was a for sure winner in my book.
Brooks has fraternity written all over him. Immature but in the best of ways. He is light and airy but personable to say the least. He likes challenges and is not afraid to do what it takes to defeat everything that interferes with that.
‘
Abbott is a giant nerd who is obsessed with anything British and the 1800’s. She is independent and full of all kinds of quirkiness, but has a kind heart.
Can Brooks put his competitive side away long enough to win the girl, or is there too much at stake within the bet?

Laugh Out Loud perfection!!! I absolutely loved reading this story. I laughed so hard. This book is about a guy that loses his girlfriend so he talks his friends into this little pact. Only then he meets his cute neighbor, and all heck breaks loose in his mind and heart!!
Such great characters, Brooks and Abbot are the most fun! Even the cat is hysterical, love Desi!! If this is book 1, I can hardly wait for book 2 & 3!!!
I enjoyed this book by Sara Ney. Was this my favorite book by Ney, no, but it got the job done.
I liked Abbott a lot; her down-to-earth persona despite her family having lots of money was truly endearing and refreshing. Her Nan was the best character in the entire story…love her so much!
Brooks was an ok character; not my favorite of Ney’s men but I still enjoyed him. His terror of Abbott’s cat was fantastic and made me laugh out loud!
I liked the banter between both Brooks and Abbott but the spark was more sparkler than firecracker, if that makes sense. There were times when the humor felt a bit overworked; as if it were TRYING too hard. However, as the story progressed, I did feel their connection more.
The one thing that bugged me the most was the chapters from the cat’s POV…um, those just didn’t work for me and didn’t add anything to the story. I would have preferred those be left out and to see the connection/chemistry between Abbott and Brooks be developed more. I’m sure some will love those odd little chapter nuggets, they just weren’t for me.
Overall this was a fun read and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

„If I were going to lose, it would be for a girl like her.”
Call an ambulance, my stomach hurts! One of these days Sara Ney’s gonna make me tear my stomach muscles from the amount of uncontrollable fits of laughter. Bastard Bachelor Society is another hilarious book from this author and an epic introduction to her new series- The Bachelors Club. It’s filled to the brim with Sara’s brand of humor and entertaining banter between main characters. Reading this book kept the cheesy grin on my face from start to finish!
Brooks and Abbott made me fall in love with them INSTANTLY. Dear Lord, these two were so amusing and swoony! They both have their own quirks, they’re both smart and funny. They cracked me up and made my heart swell. I had the time of my life reading how they tried to navigate between their friendship and something more. Between laughable banter and ridiculous situations, their off-the-charts chemistry was palpable and that made me cheer on them like the biggest fan. I adore these two!
Under any circumstances DO NOT eat anything during this read. Unless you want to choke. Sara is well known for her funny and sarcastic phrases, so eating snacks or drinking anything while reading BBS may be a little bit dangerous, especially when Nan shows up in the story (or Duchess Desdemona, the cat). By the way, where can I get a grandmother like that? I need one asap!
Ney proved again that she’s the queen of rom-coms. I cannot wait for other guys in Bastard Bachelor Society to give back their jackets!
4.5 stars
This is an entertaining story with quirky characters and great banter! Abbott is a sassy, say it like it is character with a funny cat and Nan! She was hilarious! The words that came out if her mouth were just too funny!
When she meets her neighbor Brooks, lets just say this friendship is rather endearing! Brooks is charming and a man that seems fun to be around.
I really enjoyed this book! Especially the way Abbotts Nan was a force to be reckoned with! Im not kidding! She was such good value!
This story is lighthearted and a pleasure to read!
A definite great start to a new series by the author!
Well what can i say?
When i first read the blurb of this i knew i had to read it.
I struggled a little at the beginning, not knowing what was going on and it felt a little slow but then i met Abbott and it completely changes.
That girl is a hoot, she was hilarious with the things she says to herself or with Brooks. She was real though, very down to earth and easy to like and read.
Brooks i liked after he met Abbott, at first i was a little on the fence since he seemed kinda douchey but then the more i read of him and his banter with Abbott made me like him so much more!
I loved this book, i knew i would anyway since it’s written by Sara Ney but i loved the fact it’s a whole new series.
I can’t wait to read more!
