It’s all fun and games, until someone loses their heart… catches Clay’s eye. If Clay wants to keep true love from slipping through his fingers, he’s going to have to convince Bea he isn’t the player he seems to be.
Bookstore owner, Bea Appleton, has always been perfectly happy to read about risks rather than take them. But when her twin sister is set up with the man Bea has secretly loved for years, Bea must step up to the plate or risk losing Clay forever.

As always another fun, light read from Cindy Kirk. When I first read the title of this one, I thought “oh boy like I need to read about the drama that comes from the Bachelor Franchise,” but I am happy to say this book was anything but that drama! It was a fun read with a happy ending as always, and makes me wonder what book #13 will bring!
I received an Advanced Reader’s Copy from the publisher, but this is my own review!
Although Bachelor Games in Good Hope is a part of the series, it can also be read as a stand alone story. This is Clay and Bea’s story about looking for love in all the wrong places when it has always been right in front of you. Clay has just been dumped by his girlfriend and realizes that he always picks the wrong type of women. Bea has always been the quiet, studious one while her identical twin is the outgoing, athletic, life of the party. Bea manages the local bookstore which Clay frequents and the two have become friends. They talk about books, events and life but when he agrees to Gladys’ plan for the Bachelor Games in order to find him true love, he realizes that Bea is his perfect match. Convincing Bea is tough because he has agreed to participate in the games and also Bea struggles with low self-esteem. The story that follows is filled with heart, love and a few laughs and tears. This is a wonderfully written story that is difficult to put down.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
Wow! Another great book in the Good Hope series. Most of us can identify with being afraid of telling another that you are interested in them or even that you love them. Both Bea and Clay have their own insecurities that hold them back. You really feel their pain! There is one steamy love scene, and it is well done.

Opening a Good Hope novel is like returning home after a too-long break. With each new romance comes a journey to get to the end result, that happy ending! This book has Clay and Bea finding their way through games, assumptions, get togethers, and that darn Matchmaker Gladys. We get to really know Clay and Bea, while learning more about the stories of some of our beloved characters from past books in this series.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I am voluntarily reviewing it and all opinions expressed are completely my own.
Good Hope is the typical small town with its circles of friends & large families. Bea is the last one in town from her family. Her parents moved after Britt & Bea graduates high school & Britt moved east for a job after college. Bea couldn’t leave the town she loved. All her life, she’s been the smart, quiet, unassuming one. Could she break out of that shell?
Clay has had several relationships but they never end up where he wants them to. He’s determined that he’s picking the wrong type of women & agrees to let a gossipy older woman in the community act as his matchmaker. While she’s setting up her plans, Clay begins to fear what he’s set in motion.
I really enjoy these stories & learning more about Good Hope. Each one brings the readers updates about past characters lives & futures. The characters become friends that you’re happy to learn more about. In this story, an unlikely couple learns to look below the surface. Clay belongs to a large family & has always dated a certain type of woman. Bea has always sat back & watched quietly. They have enjoyed a quiet friendship & several conversations about books but never searched for anything deeper. I really can’t wait to see what couple Ms. Kirk matches up next!
My happy place!
Good Hope is my happy place and I gobble up every new addition like a starved woman. Clay and Bea are a fantastic couple. Their story is fun and flirty with warmth that turns hot! Oh the games people play. The game they play has an interesting romantic ending. While this couple’s story blossoms, characters from past books that I love make an appearance updating their lives and antics. That makes this book so special to me but it did not stop there as new intriguing characters and story lines tease at what is to come. What will happen to Marigold? What of Bea’s sister? I just cannot wait till the next installment of this place called Good Hope!
I was given an advanced copy of this book for a review. If you are new to Cindy Kirk, you will love this book. It is stand alone but much more if you read the entire series , which I highly recommend as it is wonderful.
I loved how this story had a different twist. Each of the Good Hope stories include matchmaker, Gladys. I wasn’t sure about her new twist to playing matchmaker this time but I quickly learned the story would be just as sweet! This is such a great book and I could not put it down!! I always love a good story where someone is able to improve their self esteem thanks to someone everyone thinks is very good looking. I definitely recommend this sweet romance! I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
A great addition to the Good Hope series. Clay has just broken up when he let’s himself be talked into participating in the Bachelor Games. Bea is dealing with buying the bookstore she manages and finding a way to make it succeed. She agrees to be his sounding board after his dates. Only they fall for each other. He goes to break things off with Gladys and she reminds of his past choices. And Bea’s sister Britt arrives and suddenly Bea doubts herself. Can these two find themselves and each other?
I love visiting Good Hope and seeing how all my friends there are doing. I love Clay and how clueless he seems to be about women and who would be a good match for him. I also loved Bea, and being a book lover myself can relate to who she is. It was fun watching them circle each other, Bea knowing she wanted to be with Clay and Clay not looking past their friendship to see what more there could be. Gladys is always a hoot, and her matchmaking is in full swing, but she also looks past Bea. It was very satisfying to see Clay come to his senses and find his happily ever after with Bea. A great entry in this small town, sweet romance series.

Another great Good Hope book.
Clay just can’t seem to pick his women. What he doesn’t know is that the perfect choice is right in front of him.
When the local Match Maker ladies get Clay in their sites, it’s all over for Clay. But when things start going all wrong that;s when he wants out.
Thank you for keeping all the old players in the books as they go on. What happened to the relationship cards??? Miss their little addition to the books.
This novel focuses on Clay Chapin, a minor character in the previous Good Hope novels, and Bea Appleton, who works in the local bookstore, Book & Cup. Clay frequents the bookstore for several reasons, one being the proximity to the school where he is principal, and second, he enjoys conversing with Bea on books and most any topic. The story opens with Clay meeting Stella, his current girlfriend, at the Book & Cup, where Stella breaks up with Clay (and Clay dodges a bullet with that breakup). Clay laments his poor choices in girlfriends. Gladys, the self-proclaimed matchmaking guru, along with her posse, declares she is so good at matchmaking that their behind-the-scenes efforts should be brought out in the open to help Clay. Clay agrees to the “Bachelor Games”, and none of the dates work out. Gladys is not deterred, despite Clay’s misgivings and warnings from Oaklee (the youngster in the crew) and others in Gladys’s crew that Gladys’s choices for Clay are wrong. Other complications arise to deflect the growing attraction between Clay and Bea, but both Clay and Bea eventually talk honestly to each other and figure it all out.
I laughed a lot in reading Gladys’s machinations, in her failing to realize she is simply oblivious to the Clay-Bea connection, and her sheer bravado in announcing her Bachelor Games were successful despite all evidence to the contrary.
There are many subplots coexisting with the main story line, and all play an important role in relating to the main story line of Clay and Bea. I really enjoyed this Good Hope story (of course, I like all the Good Hope stories).

Clay Chapin has a history of dating the wrong women. When Gladys finds out she talks Clay into a Bachelor games to find him the love of his life. He’s not sure exactly what he’s gotten himself into, especially letting Gladys take control.
Beatrice “Bea” Appleton has a lot of changes ahead of her. Especially with the future of the job. Will the owner move to the new location? Bea has lived in her twin sisters shadow. Her sister was always the outgoing, athletic, popular one, and Bea was the book smarts.
Things change when Clay and Bea realize that they have feelings for each other, but with their pasts controlling their feelings neither one are willing to admit their true feelings for each other. What happens when you don’t go for it? Will they let love slide away from them, due to their past?
Another great book in the Good Hope Series! Truly love this series!

Clay is the principal at Good Hope High School. Beatrice, Bea, is the manager at the Book and Cup, a bookstore/coffee shop. She went to school with his younger sister, Greer. Clay usually stops in to get a drink, and sit on his laptop. His family are building new property for the bookstore, and 2 other businesses. Bea’s friend Piper owns a clothing store, and does not want to move locations. Gladys wants to set Clay up and devises The Bachelor Games, she sets him up on blind dates. She actually says she would never set him up with Bea, but luckily they do that all on their own.
According to the last page, we have to wait until October of 2020 to get another Good Hope book, I am not sure I will be able to wait that long.
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
First thank you Cindy for not making the Bachelor Games like the actual show as it would have been a disgrace for the people in Good Hope. Gladys, Oaklee and the group are at it again and funnier than ever. This story is about Clay Chapin, Greer’s brother, and Bea Appleton. Clay is the high school principal and Bea works for the Book & Cup bookstore. It starts off with him meeting his girlfriend Stella at Book & Cup, as she wanted to talk him privately. Bea’s heart always skips a beat when she sees Clay, but he would never notice her as they are both from different social worlds. Needless to say, Clay is dumped, because Stella wants more of the ritzy stuff than the small town quiet life that he enjoys. Well, Stella overhears everything and lets Clay know that she agrees with him and that Stella was all wrong for him.
Gladys approaches Clay and make a proposition with him as he wants what his siblings already have – a family and love. The proposition is the Bachelor Game – Gladys and her team will find eligible women for him and he will date them to see if they have a connection because he has been picking them all wrong lately. Of course there are other things going on in town such as many of the tenants in the older building are being moved out to a new area in which some are not so happy about. Of course Cindy’s book always leaves you happy at the end and this was no exception. I love the ending and can’t wait to see who else is next could it be Bea’s sister or someone else? I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Two friends who both have doubts about their own abilities to find the right person to love, finally find true love with each other. But it’s the personal journey of ups and downs for each that need a nudge from Good Hope’s famous nonagenarian matchmaker.
Clay, good-looking, held in esteem by the townspeople as the high school principal, and from a well-to-do family, never lacks for a date. But the women he dates always seem to be what he thinks he wants, not the kind of woman he needs—one who understands him and has similar interests.
Bea is satisfied with her quiet life managing a bookstore, jogging, and hanging around with a few good friends. In fact, she is more than satisfied, because she’s not the center of attention like her twin sister. Until she realizes that what she has with Clay, a man she can share a cup of coffee with and talk about books, has morphed into a man who causes her heart to flutter.
A spicy-sweet story of Bea and Clay each finding their true selves as they discover their friendship growing into love. Now to overcome the obstacles that get thrown in their way by family members and a tenacious matchmaker intent on finding Clay the perfect woman.
A cute story, full of our favorite Good Hope characters and favorite haunts, providing the ambiance of small-town life.
I was given an ARC of this book by the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Gladys normal matchmaking skills did not seem to be at her usual level in this book. She kept missing instead of making a connection. I didn’t really like the whole “Bachelor Games” idea.
Clay and Bea were so well connected from the very beginning. I understood Bea being unsure about how Clay felt about her, but her behavior towards him seemed out of character for her. Being that insecure around her sister we was kind of sad.
This was a friend’s to lovers, series of mishaps, romantic HEA read. Not My Favorite in the series, but not bad. I would go with 3.5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received from the author.
Clay and Bea’s love story welcomed me back to Good Hope. It’s my favorite small town. I love the characters and their stories.
This is Book 12 in the series and while it can be read and loved as a stand-alone, I suggest starting at the beginning. Otherwise, you’ll miss all of the warm fuzzies from seeing happily in love characters from previous books.
If you’ve been anxiously awaiting Clay’s story, you won’t be disappointed. Bea and Clay make a great couple once they work through their misunderstanding. I really enjoyed reading their story. You will too!
I received this ARC from the publisher for an honest review.
It’s always good to visit the characters in the Good Hope series. Like every book in this series Clay Chapin and Bea Appleton’s story is amazing, romantic and fun to read. I always love reading about the other characters in each book. I think this is an amazing story full of love and surprises. I enjoy reading this book and I’m never disappointed with the Good Hope books. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Welcome back to Good Hope. The word is out Gladys and her matchmaking crew are on the prowl and ready to make a statement. They set their sights on Clay Chapin, the last of the Chapin clan to find a match and the principal of Good Hope High School.
This match is being dubbed “The Bachelor Games.” Everything is out in the open and the Bachelor is none other than Clay Chapin who has just recently became single. He chooses his friend and manager of the book store, Book & Cup, as his confidant through this messy process. Bea Appleton has lived in Good Hope her whole life and would like to continue despite not having any family there.
As Gladys and her crew attacks the task of the Bachelor Games, Clay finds a connection that no one could have predicted. Now he has to find a way to his love without backing down on the promises he made to Gladys.
As always, Ms. Kirk has a knack for including the lives of other residents in Good Hope. It is always fun to catch up on the lives of some of your favorite characters. This book knocks it out of the park and makes readers remember why they adore this town. I can’t wait to hear about the next match. I am all in with Good Hope.
It’s always fun to return to the town of Good Hope and visit with all the beloved characters. In book 12 we get to know Clay better and follow his journey to finding his perfect match, the sweet Bea. This couple was easy to connect with and root for. The Author did a great job in showing how each of them grew stronger individually and also together. There were some new characters introduced on their way to HEA and I can’t wait to get to read each of their stories!
