I’m just going to say it, happily ever after is BS.The only side of love I’ve seen is dark, toxic and hateful,Until I met Clay. I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with him,And I sure as hell wasn’t supposed to end up pregnant with his baby.I moved to Colorado for a fresh start,But the truth is, I was running from my pastMy only priority was keeping my five-year-old son safe, And just when I think … my five-year-old son safe,
And just when I think I’ve escaped, my demons come back to haunt me.
Let me be clear, I’m not a damsel in distress,
And I didn’t need a savior.
But the way Clay made me feel…love, protected, desired—things I never thought I’d feel again,
I can’t help but wonder if things are moving too fast.
I’m falling and falling hard,
But the truth is I’m terrified.
Can I allow myself to truly trust him?
Do I even deserve a second chance at happily ever after?
For once in my life, I feel the kind of love that songs are written about,
The kind that keeps you up all night with giddiness,
But can it survive the secret I’m carrying?
Or is my ugly past about to rear its head and destroy everything?

Terrific!
This is a very compelling story that deals with escape from an abusive (and dangerous) relationship. Autumn takes her son Bryce and “runs” to Colorado. Fortunately for them she meets Clay, who will be remodeling the home she purchased. Godsend is the word that best describes what he becomes in their lives. When danger arrives in the form of her “husband” she is frozen in sheer terror. This book is hard to stop reading at any point, but from this point on I didn’t put it down!

Autumn is on the run with her little son from an abusive ex, and she buys an old farmhouse which she hires contractor Clay to renovate into a B & B. When Autumn’s past comes back to haunt her will Clay be able to protect her. This is a well written story which is filled with drama, secrets, and suspense which all lead to an intense and captivating page turner. I recommend for all.

Clay was the perfect man for Autumn. He saw her, past the surface. She was troubled and in trouble but he was patient, kind and very protective, yet he wasnt perfect either.
I really enjoyed this story, it has the right mix of drama and tension, which didnt really let up, along with steamy times and Very emotional. I loved reading how Autumn comes into her own, building strength in herself, not from him, but alongside him. She does it for her self and for her child.
This had me wound up in knots at times. Just inner barracking for Autumn and also thankful she had Clay. A fantastic book really great!

This book was so good, I honestly couldn’t put it down.
Autumn and her five year old son are looking to start over after running away from her abusive husband. When she arrives she meets Clay, who is going to help renovate her B&B. She isn’t looking for a relationship or love, she just wants to keep her son safe. When things start to heat up with Clay she realizes that maybe she isn’t done with love yet… that is until her ex sends her a note. With the threat of her past threatening her new life she realizes she doesn’t want to run. When Clay learns about the note, he wants to help so he installs a security system. Will the system be enough, will her ex be able to take her son, will these two get their happy ever after?
I really like Autumn, I thought she was brave to run and try to make a better life for her and her son. I also like that she didn’t want to run anymore, she wanted to reclaim her life. Clay was definitely swoon worthy by the end of this story.
I highly recommend this story

– Another great Slade Brother romance. Clay is living off the grid in a self sustaining cabin thinking he has everything he will ever need and then Autumn comes along. She is running from her abusive husband and hires Clay to remodel her house for a B&B. The Slade family warmly welcome her, her son and the reader to their family. When her husband finds where she has moved things start to get twisted, with some turns and surprises. After some tense times while searching for Autumn after her husband grabs her they begin their journey to a happy ending.
Gotta love the Slade brothers and Clay is no different. Autumn’s running from her past and hires Clay to help her out. Neither are looking for love but their walls start falling and so do they. Clay is great with her son too. I can’t wait for more!

Autumn was on the run from an abusive husband with her son. She hired Clay, a confirmed bachelor, to do remodeling. Their chemistry was hot, but both were reluctant to commit to each other. Autumn’s husband shows up demanding his son. I love this series and the Slade brothers. Great read!

A spine-tingling romantic suspense tale
Autumn, a woman on the run from her past, hires Clay, mountain man Slade brother and contractor, to help restore an old farmhouse into a B & B. As the story progresses walls are slowly taken down, secrets are shared, and just when they are starting to build towards a future the past comes blowing back in threatening to tear it all apart. Alexis Winter’s Baby Secret is a spine-tingling romantic suspense tale. I can’t wait to see what she has planned for Hudson and Wyatt, not to mention the mystery sibling that is hanging around in the background.

Even though Clay tried to act like a recluse, he could not stay away from Autumn and Bryce. The chemistry between Clay and Autumn jumped off the page. Autumn is a strong female and mother who looks out for her child as well as herself. Clay and Autumn can’t help not only how they work well together with the house remodel, but also how well they work in the bedroom. You don’t want to miss the third installment of the Slade Brothers. Clay is the type of man who will protect anyone he loves, at all cost. He is definitely a great book boyfriend. You won’t be disappointed.
Lots of angst and passion and suspense in this story. I love a good single mom romance so I loved Autumn and the way she finally stood up to her ex and started rebuilding somewhere else. Her chemistry with Clay is amazing and I found myself on edge at the beginning wondering when they would give in. There’s some miscommunication and drama but all throughout you can’t help but root for them.

Once you start this book, you’re hooked. A woman named Autumn is on the run with her 5-year-old son named Bruce from Autumn’s ex-husband. A man named Clay Slade has his own opinions and feelings about love. He has a casual, sexual relationship with a woman that understands the relationship has no strings and no commitment. When Clay meets Autumn, all his views changes.

Loved this sweet romance with Autumn and Clay. She is on the run along with her five year old son Bryce from her abusive husband Glenn. When she inherits some money she buys a broken down farmhouse and she hires Clay to renovate for her. She is not looking for a relationship and he has vowed to never get married and does not want children. When they meet their chemistry is off the charts and against every thing they thought they wanted they start a relationship but not everyone is happy about it especially his “friend with benefits friend”. When Glenn tracks her down all heck breaks loose.
This was another great addition to this series about the Slade brothers and this time we have Clay’s story Like the previous books int his series it draws you in and has youy thoroughly engaged with the charcaters

Baby Secret by Alexis Winter was a slooooow build story that was achingly sweet!!! It’s the story of Clay and Autumn. She’s in an abusive relationship and leaves with her son to start a new life. She wants to start a B&B. She hires a contractor, Clay, to fix the place up.
There’s an immediate attraction, but they both have some issues/secrets holding them back.
Wonderfully sweet, touching, steamy story that had me completely enthralled!!!!
I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Clay is determined to live like he wants, off the grid and bo attachments. When he meets his next client his heart does funny things. The more he is around Autumn and her son the more he can’t imagine not being around them.
When trouble comes he steps up and proves to her what’s important to him.

This book is fantastic and I loved it! The story of Clay and Autumn is filled with all the things that make a book worth reading – great characters, lots of love, steam and fun and some danger thrown in for good measure. Autumn arrives in town after running with her son, Bryce, from her abusive husband Glenn. She has come to Colorado to open a bed and breakfast, using money she received after her father’s death. Clay is the builder who is going to help her fix up the house. At first, he is determined to keep his distance, despite how she makes him feel. Autumn also wants to stay away as she isn’t ready for a relationship and Glenn refuses to sign the divorce papers. Things between Autumn and Clay heat up and the fear kicks in when Autumn starts receiving threats from Glenn. Then, she tries to call her neighbor and her lawyer, both of them helping her to escape, and find that she can’t reach either. The danger hits it’s peak when Glenn catches up to Autumn soon after she and Clay express their feelings and decide they want to be a family. In the end, Glenn is caught, Autumn and Clay are free from him and are free to live their happily ever after, especially after the birth of their son, Logan.
