A grumpy lumberjackFormer Army Ranger Harrison Wilkes isn’t actually a lumberjack, but he’s doing his best impression while hiding out in the mountains of East Tennessee. He needs to rest, recharge, and stay the hell away from people, while he wrestles with ghosts from his past and figures out his future. Neither includes a snowbound rescue of his favorite author.A runaway writerIvy Blake is on a … author.
A runaway writer
Ivy Blake is on a deadline. Her hero is MIA, and she’s desperate to find some peace, quiet, and inspiration to get her book—and her life—back on track. She doesn’t plan on driving off a mountain. Or the mysterious stranger who shows up to save her.
Who’s rescuing who?
When Winter Stormageddon traps them together, Ivy finds the inspiration she didn’t know she needed in her real-life hero. As more than the fireplace heats up his one-man cabin, they both find far more than they bargained for. This intuitive author just might have the answers Harrison’s looking for, but will their newfound connection survive past the storm?

Good plot, very real characters. Touches on subjects realistically. I enjoyed this book very much.
Absolutely loved the creativeness and effective way Nolan took some very real issues and weaved them in such a way that it was thought provoking, romantic, but addressed the reality that many of our soldiers deal with.
Good fit in couple with great chemistry. Well written story that shows how previous hurt and pain can stop us from living a full life, but love conquers all as it gives courage to step out of the rut. Loved the hopeful vibe of it.
Kait Nolan has a gift of pulling you into the story. I liked the characters Ivy and Harrison from the start. The story points out that timing is everything. It is a theme that carries through out the story. Their unexpected meeting leads to two people who fit together so well. I enjoyed the quick stay at the Misfit Inn. The story was a fast and fun read with two very enjoyable characters. I would love to see them show up again at the Inn! I received an advance copy in return for an honest review.
Ivy and Harrison are each running from something. He started off grumpy but slowly warmed up to Ivy. Loved the scenes where they talk about her book and he helps her. It was sweet but also steamy. Liked hearing from previous characters. There was angst of course and I wanted to tell Harrison to not wait but I liked the ending.
After reading “Snowed In with a Ranger” (a prelude teaser), I read the full novel: “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Kait Nolan and just LOVED it. This story really ticked a lot of my boxes:
*remote cabin with plenty of hygge, intimacy, and chemistry
*supportive friends
*strong but intellectual ex-military type –
*breaking through barriers resulting in healthy vulnerability
*nerdy writer with hidden gutsy depth –
*personal revelations inspired by the insight of another
And of course it is gorgeously written in Kait’s lovely style.
I just love Kait Nolan! I have loved every single book of hers that I’ve read, and I think I’ve read them all by now. I read this when it was just a novella and I loved it except for the fact that it was too darn short. So when I saw that she added to it to make it a full novel, I jumped right over to Amazon and bought it. I love the story so much more now, it feels complete. The other shorter version just felt like a teaser sampler. So this was just perfect.
Kait Nolan does it again! I think the Stormageddon really added verisimilitude to their first meeting and it ramped up from there. I loved it as a novella, but the added length just made it that much better.
This story has a little tie-in to the characters of the Misfit Inn series that just makes the world feel more complete.
This story just illustrates how you can make plans but things don’t always work out the way you plan. But sometimes they still work out.
I received an ARC of the novella but I have purchased the full- length version, and it was well worth the price!
Baby It’s Cold Outside is a wonderful, easy to read book with great characters and a fabulous HEA. Ivy gets much more than she bargained for when she ran away from her writer’s block. Harrison’s self imposed solitude didn’t go according to plan either. However, both of them found exactly what they didn’t know they wanted or needed. I definitely recommend this book.
I demand more Ivy and Harrison! NOW! I’m nowhere near being done with their story even though the book is over. I love this author’s quirky, zany sense of humor. She always has me in stitches over at least one scene in every book. She also manages to land me in tears over the course of nearly every book, too. (I didn’t quite go over the edge with this one, but there was a lot of hard blinking.) A pair of loners run away to from their responsibilities, seeking peace. It’s either the set up to a great joke or one heck of a story. What if it’s a little bit of both? To me, that’s exactly what this book became: funny, sweet, quirky, and at times tragic. It’s a bit of a roller-coaster ride. But, like the best roller-coaster rides, you want to go back around again as soon as you’re done. On a side note, I was perfectly happy with the fictional Stormageddon. I didn’t appreciate the cosmic timing that dumped a foot of the fluffy white stuff on my home town while I read about Ivy and Harrison’s icy encounter (the first time).
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
The story centers around Ivy Blake and Harrison Wilkes. Ivy is a very successful author of thrillers, though she has a male pen name. At the moment, she has hit the infamous writer’s block and decides a change of scenery might help her get inspiration. Besides, it also gives her a chance to get off the grid so her agent can’t contact her. Harrison is an ex- Army Ranger , who carries a great deal of survival guilt for the men he lost in battle. His scars are deep , as are his nightmares.
He takes up the offer of an isolated cabin a friend has up in the mountains of Eden’s Ridge.
Harrison meets Ivy literally by accident when he rescues her in the snowstorm. In doing so and spending time with her, he also help her with her book.
The chemistry is evident but life has a way of creating chaos . Each one thought the other had left without looking back.
It’s a sweet story, with interesting main and secondary characters. I can easily see stories for some of them.
It’s also a story that highlights the effects war and loss has on our returning troops. Reminding us that as a society , we need to do more to help them integrate back to civilian life.
I can’t wait to read what else this talented author has for us.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
What a wonderful read . Down to earth and written in in a style that is so easy to read that when you flip thru page one and get right into the story of Ivy and Harrison. It reads like a true life romance book and the next thing you know you are at the end. WoW! I enjoyed the fact that I could easily related Harrison to on of my brothers who serves and it’s cool to see some of the process shown in the book. Perfect length for my bedtime read….which means author Kait Nolan’s other books will go on my TBR list.
ARC for honest review with no compensation
Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Kait Nolan is a Eden’s Ridge/Misfit Inn novella. This is another great addition to this series!
Ivy, a best-selling author who has writer’s block and decides she needs to find a place to relax and get her mojo back decides to book a room at the Misfit Inn. While on the way there a Winter-gaddon Snowstorm hits while she’s driving a bear appears in front of her car and she goes off the road and through the guardrail. No cell service and trapped in her car…luckily Harrison, who is also a writer, ex-military and hiding from the world is on his way back up the mountain and sees the guard rail down so he stops to help, he doesn’t want company but he is closer to his place then town and with the snow falling faster its safer to go to his place. Neither is ready to admit that they are stuck until the roads are cleared and he can take her back down the mountain and get on with his life and she can find her happy place to write. Except Harrison helps Ivy with her writer’s block and the words start flowing, when she leaves her writings laying on the table he reads its only to discover his favorite author is a woman…Ivy.
After the roads are cleared he takes her to Misfit Inn but they both miss each other and the bond that has started taking place but…can these two find a way to be together permanently or will Harrison let her go because he doesn’t think he is the right man for her and lose the bright star in his life??
What a wounded warrior book should be.
He has hope which most heroes of this trope do not. She doesn’t save him; she just helps him move on. He’s already done the hard work of digging himself out. Is he still traumatized? Yes. But he’s also ready to build a life. He just doesn’t see the path from point A to B. But neither does she. They find that together.
Lame.

Classic Kait Nolan! A lovely read.
I have been provided with a review copy of Baby, It’s Cold Outside by the author for an impartial review. This novella is an Eden’s Ridge/Misfit Inn crossover. In this book you get to see some of the familiar characters from the Misfit Inn series but the main story is about some outside characters that you will meet. In this novella you meet Ivy Blake and Harrison Wilkes and I just fell in love with these characters. This was such an easy read and after turning the last page I immediately wanted more of these characters. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
This is a revamped longer version. You get a great feel for the characters. Ivy and Harrison make quite the team. This is a sink into kind of read and one I definitely enjoyed. You get to see a few crossover characters from the misfit inn series. Maybe a new series starter.
Screaming with glee
What a great novella this was! All my favorite things wrapped up in one neat little package, I loved it! I want more Ivy and Harrison!
