Kimberly Kincaid is a masterful storyteller, blending a snowstorm, a cocky doctor, and a focused medical resident. With its enemies-to-lovers love story, Baby, It’s Cold Outside is both heartwarming and passionate, and the H/h’s chemistry will feed your need for a well-written holiday romance!
He is supremely confident – some would say cocky – and movie-star handsome. She comes across as no-nonsense, intense, and untouchable. But Dr. Emmett Mallory and Dr. Sofia Vasquez are so much more than their facades! These two medical professionals may have had their reasons to for creating such outer shells, but those reasons fade away the stronger the chemistry builds between Emmett and Sofia.
Wow! What a terrific holiday read that resonates for anyone anytime of the year! We have seen the glimpses of Dr. Mallory and Resident Dr. Vasquez in the prior Remington Medical series – well, what we really saw were the sparks between these two. Appearing to be sparks caused by friction and discomfort, here we find the sparks were of a different sort, bringing to mind that the line between love and hate is not just a very fine line, but a gray and shifting one! Ms. Kincaid always has that master’s touch in creating complex characters that are not just compelling but relatable. Their prior appearances barely hinted at the hidden roots of Emmett’s and Sofia’s personas, but in this story, we find out exactly what makes these two the way they are, in life and then together! The novella may be barely 80 pages, this author has given us a whole world filled with the pain of loss and the joy of love, wrapped in a beautiful bow of hope and friendship! Another 5-star read from Ms. Kincaid!
BABY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE by Kimberly Kincaid
Resident Sofia Vasquez is not a fan of the holidays. Ever since a drunk driver ripped her father and only remaining family from her life on the day after Christmas, she hasn’t felt very celebratory. And to be honest, being surrounded by happy couples during all the festivities has felt like so much salt in the wound. Especially when it means she’s stuck with Dr Mallory, who seems to bring out the worst in her. His minor teasing over her ortho expertise–or her perceived lack thereof–makes her especially prickly, since it also forces her to admit that she also struggles to hide her attraction to the all-too-appealing doctor. And she refuses to be one of THOSE students. She’s there to become the best doctor Remington Medical has ever seen, the one her papi already believed her to be, NOT to find a distraction.
Attending orthopedic surgeon Emmett Mallory’s gone out of his way to remain completely professional with Dr Vasquez. She’s one of the smartest, most focused residents he’s met, and even though his heart skips a beat every time he lays eyes on her, she doesn’t seem to welcome his help as she prepares for her board exams. Until they’re trapped together at the hospital during the holidays…
Baby, It’s Cold Outside is a fantastic story in Kimberly Kincaid’s Remington Medical series–you don’t have to have read any of the previous stories to enjoy this novella, but it’ll give you a great feel for the amazing crew at this teaching hospital, and have you jonesing to catch up with the other books in the series! This stand-alone extended version gives an even richer, fuller picture of Sofia and Emmett’s story, a very satisfying take on an enemies-t0-lovers, workplace romance!
Quick Read!! I really enjoyed this story because it is was well developed and relatable. Not the insta-romance kind were you don’t get to relate to the characters before the story ends. You really get to know Emmett and Sofia and a little of their backstory. This story is heartbreaking but also filled with hope and a little Christmas magic. Great story, great series. One you don’t want to miss out on!!
Emmett Mallory, MD, cocky, arrogant, and sexy gets stuck 8n an elevator with Sofia Vasquez, a resident who avoids him like the plague. As they pass the time in the elevator, Emmett comes to learn that Sofia doesn’t dislike him, she dislikes his specialty and that’s why she avoids him.
Committing to helping Sofia pass her medical boards, Emmett and Sofia forge a bond while studying together and also while Emmett allows her to assist on ortho surgeries. It takes one snowstorm which shuts down the roads, for the building flames to erupt between the two of them.
While Sofia was concerned about being a resident hooking up with an attending, she quickly overcomes it when she realizes that Emmett has brought joy back to her holidays.
Loved the chemistry of these two, and the easy banter between them as they forged a work and then personal relationship.
This was a short and sweet and a little bit steamy Christmas novella that I enjoyed.
Sparks flew between Emmett and Sofia. But they first had to get past their issues with each other; she thought he was an arrogant (yet sexy AF) jackass and he thought she hated him, yet had no idea why. Thank goodness for the elevator malfunction to force them to talk things out.
Having her reasons for being a Scrooge over the Christmas season, Sofia tries to stay away from holiday parties, anything festive, or anything Christmassy really. But one hunky doctor makes her realize she CAN be both happy and successful during the holidays.
This was a quick read that I enjoyed. With Christmas right around the corner, it was a fitting holiday story to sit down with. It was cute and sexy.
Even though I didn’t know any of the other characters in here who’ve had their own books, I was able to follow along just fine and enjoy the story.
Loved this! My first Kimberly Kincaid book but it sure won’t be the last. Sofia is a medical resident studying for her boards and struggling with the ortho section. Attending Ortho Physician, Emmett Mallory, is willing to help her study if she would only let him. A beautiful, heartwarming story of falling in love and emotional healing. This novella can be read as a standalone but I can’t wait to read the other books in the Remington Medical series!
Baby It’s Cold Outside is book #4.5 in the Remington Medical series by Kimberly Kincaid. I’ve loved this series and this was a perfect little holiday addition.
Sofia Vasquez is twenty seven years old and is a resident doctor at Remington Memorial Hospital. It’s her life’s dream to become a doctor and she is so close. All she has to do is pass her board exams but is struggling terribly with the ortho studies.
Emmett Mallory is the lead ortho surgeon at Remington. The first time he saw the prickly resident he couldn’t help but want her. He kept his distance as best he could but she was just too much fun to tease and get her all riled up.
These two finally got past their arguing and talked and once they did, they found a connection that they couldn’t ignore. One kiss and it was all over. But Sofia wants to use every ounce of her concentration on becoming the best doctor she can. That leaves no room for anything else, right? Or, could there be room for more?
This was a short, steamy little holiday romance that I definitely enjoyed. I loved getting little glimpses of the other couples from this series that I’ve loved. And these two were so cute together.
“When you look at me like that, I feel beautiful.”
Mateo and Delia
Mateo is a detective
Delia is a mathematician nerd.
Their personalties are so different his is grumpy and edgy;
hers is funny and nerdy smart.
There is action, twists , turns and definitely a page turner that
will make you lose sleep but so worth it.
I am anticipating what’s next in the series.
Great job Kimberly !!!
It’s a short sweet story
Quick little medical romance! Several moments of eye rolling because I work in a hospital, and its not like Grey’s Anatomy! lol Happy Reading!
In Kimberly Kincaid’s “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” we have Sofia Vasquez and Emmet Mallory. They are Doctors from the Remington Medical crew. Sofia has a her medical boards coming up and it is a few weeks before Christmas. She doesn’t want any help from Emmett who wants to assist in helping her. She does her best to try and steer clear of him until they are both stuck in an elevator. So much is happening in this short read. Loved it.
I read other books in series and couldn’t wait for Sofia and Emmett’s story and it not disappoint. Loved it
Quick and sexy holiday fun filled with emotional twists and exciting turns. Was a highly entertaining way to spend a few hours with one of my favorite worlds. Excellent read!
Enemies to lovers! Hospital based! Ticks all the boxes! Absolutely love the Remington Memorial series and I was excited to learn that Emmett and Sofia get there own wee story! You also get to catch up with some of your favourite
Remington Memorial guys and girls! 5 stars from me!
I loved this sweet story about doctors and interns at the Remington hospital that’s become a staple setting in Kimberly Kincaid’s most recent series. Sofia hates the holidays, but she’s coming to more than like hot, know-it-all doctor Emmett who’s determined to help her get ready for her medical exams … and a whole lot more if she’ll just give him the chance.
Lots of romance and hotness in a stand alone medical short story.
This enemies to lovers romance was a wonderful quick read!
Sophia and Emmett get stuck together, even though they are doing everything to avoid each other. In this enemies to lovers holiday romance, author Kimberly Kincaid has added an extra side-story to her wonderful Remington Medical series. This was a fun, well-written holiday novella!
nice quick read, revisits the Remington Medical gang while introducing a romance between intern Sofia Vasquez and resident Emmet Mallory. Can be read as a standalone.
I loved this novella set in the Remington Memorial series. We finally get Dr. Emmett Mallory & Dr. Sofia Vasquez’s HEA. Sofia hasn’t hidden her extreme dislike of Emmett’s specialty while she is doing her residency at Rem Mem. When they get stuck together during a shift she finally tells him why she doesn’t like his specialty. I liked how they got close while he helped her study for her boards. I also enjoyed cameos from other Rem Mem characters. Kimberly has given us another winning story.
4.5 stars
Baby It’s Cold Outside is book 3.5 in the Remington Medical series by Kimberly Kincaid. This is the extended version of the story that was included in the Holiday Ever After anthology by various authors.
Enemies to lovers, holiday hospital romance, passion, she dislike the holidays, he loves the holidays, standalone book but reading the other books gives you more background into the tension and the workings of the relationship between Sophia Vasquez, resident doctor doing her rotation in Orthopedics and Emmett Mallory, attending Orthopedics doctor and her boss.
