This book wasn’t what I was expecting, but it is still a decent read. I began reading books from Ms. Warren way back at the beginning of her Others series. This new series is set in the same world so I thought it would be right up my alley. I realize that establishing a new set of characters in a new series takes time, build up and so on, but it felt like the story was too long and was lagging in a few places. I was tempted to skim ahead but decided against it. In the end I enjoyed reading about Renny and Mick and watching Mick surrender to his heart. There is definitely insta-love involved, romance, action, steamy sex and violence, too. The sex and violence are in appropriate circumstances and amounts, in my opinion.
I have a good feeling about the future of the Alphaville series, so I will be getting the next book when it comes out in May 2018.
I received a free ebook copy of this title from Net Galley. This review is 100% my own opinion.
Well, I am sincerely pleased to announce that once again, Christine Warren has brought her fabulous world to life with well written words that paint vivid images that makes readers feel as if they are part of the story. The characters are strong, captivating and grab the reader’s attention right from the start and in this case, Renny and Mick draw readers into an emotionally turbulent romance that is full of heat and spice and you can practically feel the chemistry between them as it flies from the pages.
The fast paced plot is full of thrills and suspense that keep readers on the edge of their seat while a bad alpha keeps the danger coming as he has fixated on Renny and then the author adds a few surprising twists to keep readers guessing. This story has it all with lots of romance, suspense, heat, great dialogue that makes it easy for the readers to relate to the characters and feel as if they really come to life and let me tell you the alpha males are super sexy and they are definitely playing for keeps, of course I don’t mind because they can certainly keep me.
Another great series from Christine Warren, which isn’t surprising since I love her other books. This book starts off with plenty of excitement and I was glued to the pages from very first one. I loved Alphaville and there is some really interesting characters that live there, so I can’t wait to visit again.
Baby, I’m Howling For You by Christine Warren is the book #1 of the Alphaville series. It’s a paranormal romance of two wolf shifters in a small town called Alpha, Washington where Renny Landry has fled to escape a stalker. This town plays a vital role because it serves as a sanctuary for any shifter alone, damaged, or just different to find a place of acceptance and to belong. The town is unique with an eclectic mix of all different shifters who come together to form a close-knit community. This the reason Renny has chosen Alpha—but it is also the last place she expects to find a mate—a gorgeous alpha male with fiery eyes, fierce tattoos, and one ferocious appetite—for her. Mick Fischer thought he left his past behind after moving to Alpha, but as always, fate has a way of biting him in the tail when Renny shows up, wounded and desperate—and finding her alarming hot and sexy. Her predicament brings out the snarling, protective beast in Mick like no other woman he’s known.
The very first page becomes alive with action-packed danger, moving fast with Renny fleeing for her life and running into Mick. Whew! It doesn’t stop there. The plot thickens as the chemistry between Mick and Renny practically set the pages on fire. There are always something going on whether it’s Molly, a lion shifter, exchanging barbs with her overly protective brother Zeke or the nasty coyotes bent on capturing Renny no matter what.
Baby, I’m Howling For You is packed with fur-flying actions, adventures, suspense, and a whole lot of smokin’ hot scenes between two horny wolves. The secondary characters are delightful that I hope to see them in future books. Molly and Zeke are brother and sister, and I love Molly’s saucy attitude and the way she torments her brother with wisecracking comments. Both Zeke and Jaeger are true friends for Mick, ignoring his surliness and sticking close to him as friends do. Christine Warren creates lovable snarky females and brooding possessive Alpha males, and her stories are full of wit in her jocular writing style. The plot is fast-paced and so addictive that I couldn’t put it down.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
What a delightful and charming PN romance. I adored Mick and his reluctant feeling at the appearance of Renny in his life. Having lost his first mate and being a wolf shifter, the chances of finding another mate, a million to one. He comes to his senses in a spectacular and hilarious way (no spoiler here!) I loved the dual POVs. This helps me to understand the characters and their actions from their side. This was wonderful and I look forward to more from this series.
If you enjoy PN romances, give this one a try. You will not regret it.
Another fantastic series by Christine!
ARC – I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are hones
Renny is on the run.
She is trying to escape a stalker.
Mick lost his mate, and he is just trying to live day by day.
When Renny stumbles into his property, he cannot believe that he found his mate, again.
Is it possible for a shifter to have 2 mates?
What are the odds ?
I loved the storytelling + the characters
The storytelling + the character’s build were awesome!
I have to say this was a howling good time! Sorry I couldn’t help myself! I really enjoyed this paranormal romance and the author’s writing style laced with humor, snark, it’s action packed, good world building, awesome secondary characters and leading characters with a lot of substance to them.
Renny is a on the run, being stalked and terrorized by another alpha from a coyote pack from her home in California. Renny has spurned his advances many times, but he won’t take no for an answer. He is resorting to have his pack chase her across state lines. Renny is trying to get to Alpha, Washington to try and make a new life for herself. Little did she know, she was being driven to the arms of her mate!
Mick has a tragic back story and he lives alone. He is a wolf shifter and they mate for life. His wife died eight years ago and by all accounts, he should have died too, since wolves usually can’t live long without their mates. He is just biding his time to die or so he thinks. Mick is a rather famous graphic novelist; he not only writes them, he illustrates them. He has made a decent life for himself in Alpha, coming from California shortly after his wife died. He keeps to himself and is readily accepted for the cranky man that he is. Then one night he hears coyote yips that sound like they are in distress and it is too close for comfort. Trespassers on his land. He goes outside of his cabin and out of the woods shoots a coyote and she is badly injured. She is being chased by another coyote and he looked like he was going to finish the job he started. Mick shot him. He didn’t kill him, just injured him and he took off. Mick brought her to his cabin and called the deputy to come and take his statement. The deputy also brought along his paramedic sister and the town mayor. Now the fun begins!
I absolutely was engrossed in this book! It was a fun read and I loved the characters. There is a lot going on to keep me more than hooked! I got a little more of Alpha’s (referred to as Alphaville) story and learned more about the secondary characters that I met in Something to Howl About. The story is fast paced, and it is fun to watch Mick struggle with his feelings for Renny. They have great chemistry and the banter between them is so entertaining. The secondary characters are also hilarious! I don’t want to give anything away, as this book needs to be read and enjoyed.
If you love paranormal romance and shifters, then give this book a try. It really is a great read and I can’t wait for more of Alphaville and the wonderful characters that live there!
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I usually buy Christine Warren’s books in paperback!!
The cover is stunning with those gorgeous blue eyes!
This is the first book in the Alphaville series, but there is also a prequel out. This is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. These two books can be read in any order. This is a novel length book.
Christine Warren is one of my favorite authors because she always creates wonderful and vivid worlds that I love feeling and seeing as I read them. The stories always come alive, and they always have plenty of action and goings-on to keep you engage in the story.
This is Renny and Mick’s story. Renny has a stalker with friends. She is running towards Alpha because she thought there she would be safe and that the people living there would also be safe because they are all shifters. Mick is a loner who has a tragic past, and he is not sure how he survived. Tons of action, and you never know what is going to happen next. Their story was exciting, and I didn’t want to put it down.
I highly recommend to shifter fans who love action packed mixed shifter worlds especially if you already love Christine Warren’s work! I can’t wait to see what happens next in Alpha!
This book grabbed my attention from the beginning. Very well-written I enjoyed it start to finish. Hot intense action at it’s best.
I really enjoyed this first book in Christine Warren’s new series. I loved Renny, she’s a bad ass. Mick is very stubborn to begin with but once he gets over that there is no stopping him. I t was great to see the town come together and help Renny and welcome her so completely. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
*Thanks NetGalley for allowing me to read this for my honest opinion*
Renny is a wolf shifter on the run for her life. She’s trying to reach Alphaville when she runs out of gas and is chased through the forest by the coyotes charged with bringing her back to the one who is obsessed with her. With a light in the distance as her only hope, she pushes herself onward despite her injuries.
Mick lost his mate eight years ago and he’s been waiting for death to take him since that moment. It’s the way of the wolf, to follow their mate into the afterworld. Until that time arrives he remains reclusive and shut off from forming any close attachments. When he rescues Renny his wolf immediately takes notice of her and demands they claim her as their own.
Renny and Mick together were wonderful. I loved that he was all alpha wolf with her despite his initial reticence about her being his mate. Renny accepted Mick but knew that he might never be able to reciprocate her feelings. Nevertheless, she persevered, knowing that he was it for her. She was strong and feisty, willing to yield to him when necessary but also capable of standing strong by his side when needed. Their chemistry was sizzling and their relationship was what romance novels are all about.
I guess haven’t read enough shifter books to really appreciate the protective alpha wolf aspect of the genre. I am totally sold on it now. This was a fast paced read with lots of action, great secondary characters and plenty of steam. The hero’s previous mate was worrisome but the author put my mind at ease regarding Mick’s feelings for his first mate as compared to Renny.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m excited to see what capers the next couple will get into.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press.
Dual POV
Safety – no ow drama; om drama is not from someone h was involved with but from an obsessed stalker
Possible triggers – the villain wants to kidnap and rape her
Wow where to begin with book one in this fascinating series.
We get a young woman running for her life is what we get. She has a stalker and not in a good way at all. Her goal? Get to Alpha Washington.
Mike carries the past with him but he has made some what of a life for himself in Alphaville.
He thought everything was ok up until a female red shifter is struggling to stay alive on his front stoop.
This book is wickedly good, we get intense action and suspense and the hotness factor sizzles. I enjoyed it very much
Baby, I’m Howling For You by Christine Warren
Alphaville #1
I love a good shapeshifter story that is a bit quirky, has great characters, makes me care and want to be there. This book did that and left me wanting more books to read in the series.
Renny Landry is nearly run to ground by the henchmen of the man who has been stalking her. She is exhausted and wounded when she finally loses consciousness on the property of alpha wolf shifter Mick Fischer. His shotgun sends the coyotes running and then the story really picks up. When Renny comes to she has three BIG men, all shifters, standing above her with a female shifter EMT tending her wounds. She tells her story, seeks asylum and takes note that Mick is more than likely her fated mate. Getting him to realize it and accept the mate idea, dealing with Geoffrey and his psychotic pals, finding her place in Alpha and a sizzling romance are all part of this story that left me happy and eager for more love stories set in Alpha.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
3.5 stars
I waffled a bit on rating this one. The premise is really good and the story starts with a pull you in chase scene. My problem was that the story seemed to be almost suspended about halfway through, things were happening, but it wasn’t really moving forward. Then, once it does gather some momentum and move forward, it’s full speed ahead to the conclusion. What saved it for me was the wonderful cast of characters in this town. In fact, I found many of the secondary characters just as interesting, if not more so, than Renny and Mick. Make no mistake, Renny and Mick are good together and I enjoyed their banter. The dialogue overall was a big plus for me and the author’s wit and sarcasm is great. The great characters and witty dialogue won me over and I will be interested to see what’s next for this town of quirky shifters.
