“A perfect blend of heat and humor!” – Riveted Reader Blog“The chemistry between Remington and Cassi was so hawt that it almost gave me heat stroke!” Vee, Amazon Reviewer Remington Marshall is the kind of gorgeous who turns a smoldering glance into foreplay. He was the man of my dreams. The love of my life.Until the day he broke my heart. After Rem left town without saying goodbye, five years … left town without saying goodbye, five years passed with no phone call, no visits, no explanations.
Even worse—no apology.
But I never needed his sensual promises. Certainly didn’t miss his panty-twisting kisses. And I survived just fine without his wicked, washboard abs…
Until the day he came home.
Suddenly the sexiest mistake of my past careens back into my life. When his sister falls sick, the reclusive mountain man offers to take care of his two baby nieces…and he asks for my help.
Rem’s struggling to pay rent to Sesame Street, drinking Jack and fruit juice, and reading his chainsaw manual as a bedtime story. So, I offer to nanny for his adorable toddlers.
After all, two former lovers suffocating in repressed sexual tension can be professional, right?
Nope.
One stolen kiss, and I’m falling for the hunk of lumberjack again. But I won’t let anyone yell Timber yet.
Rem won’t tell me why he broke my heart five years ago.
And, without the truth, I can’t forgive the past.
But when a man doesn’t deserve a second chance…
He’ll just steal her heart.

Fast paced and snappy dialogue
The sexual tension is tight when Remington returns after five years to take care of his sister’s kids while she’s in rehab. The only one who can help him is the girl he’s loved forever, Cassi. Hired as the nanny, a job she would do any way, brings the two kids, Remington and Cassi together as a family. Yet, he carries secrets that threaten to make him leave again. Funny, snappy and sad, all rolled into one, makes this book a fast enjoyable read.
I have mixed feelings. Liked the plot and the characters. Rem and Casi has chemistry, but the secret he has wasn’t bad enough from all the drama. Didn’t understand the kids role or negativity they brought. I know it’s reality, but I felt their part could have been written a little better. Can’t wait to read about the Payne brothers.
Quite a fun, and enjoyable story.
This book is all over the place. Could not stand any of the Payne Brothers. Grown men constantly fighting, damaging the home they grew up in etc…So ridiculous, have zero desire to read any of their stories. Rem’s sister, the baby daddy meet up in the park, secrets about childrens services coming? All to much & took away from the main romance…
This was a very interesting book. I loved it from beginning to end. Cassi and Rem are two amazing characters who have such great chemistry once they get past what has been hurting them. Cassi is living with her brothers who took over the farm after their father passed away. But the farm is not doing good at all and the brothers cant get along for anything. Cassi is asked to take some toys and stuff over to a friends house little does she know it is Rem. The boy she use to love until he destroyed her family barn and took off. Rem is having issues of his own. He is trying to take care of his nieces. This storyline was amazing. Watching these two come together with the two girls thrown into the mix was breathtaking. I loved watching Rem become the man that he needed to be for the girls. I highly recommend this one and cant wait to read more from the Payne brothers.
Babyjacked by Sosie Frost a sublime five-star read. I have read this author previously and enjoed it, but this was great Cassie was such a great character I really fell for her, she struggles under the weight of family pressure but will she break or will she run away? When you add into the mix and ex that ran away five years ago and took five years to get over and 2 adorable if troublesome little girls it all becomes a pressure cooker and Cassie puts on a brave face and wears on. That alone makes the book great, but when you add the ex a reclusive lumberjack Rem who is fighting with his own demons as well as secrets he is keeping hidden for reasons beyond his control. Will his demons and secrets crush Cas or will they finally allow her to grow tall and free like the sunflowers she loves.
Funny, sexy, and a terrific story that holds your interest. The heroine and hero’s banter alone will keep you in stitches. Solidly written and and worth the read. Although it’s a BWWM with a HEA, I’m more than positive this is a beginning of a beautiful series.
loved this book! love the gruff man that will do anything to help his sister, love the heroine that wont back down from what she wants. great read!
Second chance romances are recurrent in the literature. There is a fascination to accompany two characters, who by eventual circumstances end up separating, one day they meet and try to deal with everything that happened and see if there is any feeling to save. Cassie and Remington are one example. Two young friends, in love, and who through a tragedy ended up not having the chance to live a relationship. A fire will change their lives.
Five years later, Remington is back in his hometown. The same town he left without even looking back. The same place where his surname is synonymous with looks of disapproval. The place where he vowed never to put his feet again, but who was forced to return to take care of his two little nieces. The guy with bad boy fame became a man.
Cassie can not wait to leave. She has already sacrificed much of her life, and feels that if she does not leave the tiny town where she lives she will go mad. These last five years have not been easy for her. Her family’s farm faces difficulties, her parents have died, and her brothers, now all on the same roof, loathe themselves. And she can not forgive Rem for leaving.
With the past still present, with so much resentment and hatred on the part of her family, the two will be able to come to an understanding? The book deals with this new opportunity, the present moment. The two are in the same place after so many years, and it seems that fate is bent on bringing them together. The chemistry still exists after so long, and as much as Cassie tries to escape, Rem will not give her up this time.
The book is a lot of fun. A solitary bachelor without the least social politeness taking care of two little girls is at least amusing. The two children are cute when they want and small dictators when appropriate. Cassie enters this mess as a babysitter for the girls, as she fears that Rem will not be able to handle the responsibility.
His sister’s story was interesting, it was predictable that he was lying, that the reason for his return was another. The whole mystery of the fire from the beginning its possible realize that something is wrong. The situations are funny, the double meaning jokes with the fact that he is a lumberjack are hilarious, all the interaction of the two with the children are guarantees of good surprises. The scene with Melanie covered in paint will make the reader laugh
Overall there are no major twists. It’s a light, funny book that deals with second chances. The end I found very run, some facts went unexplained. Because it’s a series, even with other characters, I hope we’ll still see more of Cassie and Rem to fill in the empty columns. Good reading, fun and romantic in the right measure.
Love it. Great book
This is a difficult one for me. On one hand, it wasn’t a bad book. It was amusing and I made it through, but on the other hand, it just didn’t do much for me.
I don’t know if I just didn’t connect to the characters or I’d I just got frustrated with them. This book sounded awesome. I was really looking forward to it, and based on the blurb it seem to fit the bill of what I was looking for.
I got frustrated with Rem. I figured out pretty quickly what his secret was from 5 years ago. And I got frustrated that it took so long for that to come out. But I also got frustrated about the little lies he was telling about his sister’s “illness”. It just seemed really stupid to lie about those things.
Ask for Cassi, I just never really connected with her. I kept feeling like she wasn’t following through on things she said she was going to do. And I felt like she was such a doormat to everybody. She gave in to her brothers, she gave in to Rem, she gave in to the people in town. And on the rare times that she actually stood up to Rem and demanded the truth their conversations were frustrating.
This book was not awful. It has its funny moments, it had its Sweet Moments… But I just didn’t connect with it in a way that made me love it.
3.5 star
This was a not bad read, I liked the characters Remington is haunted by his and his family’s past but has t step up when he is needed to look after his sisters kids and manages to get Cassie to help by being their nanny. The dynamic between them was great and there were some good outer characters which you loved or hated, I just wished we got both of their back stories while reading but only some came out and mostly Remingtons.
