Older heroines are my crack. Older heroine / younger hero: you can’t sign me up fast enough. Crouch does not disappoint. Each installment of this series just keeps getting better.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
I really enjoyed this story, it’s well-written with a fast-paced intriguing storyline. Baby aka Blake is immediately attracted to Quinn, boy Rileys older sister. There is a big age gap between Baby and Quinn, fortunately they can get past it, I’m not a lover of older woman romances but the intrigue in this book kept me interested.
Baby is a wonderful likable character, Quinn was really relatable, my heart felt for her with all the drama following her.
Wonderful story. Great series.
Another enjoyable adventure with the residents of Oak Creek and Linear Tactical family. As always the reader is captured from the beginning to the end with a great set of characters. Quinn and Baby are wonderful examples of opposites that attract and each have hidden secrets. There are many tense moments with twists, turns and surprises. The dyslexia problem that Baby has faced and how he handled it was interesting and very real life situation and it was easy to see how Quinn could begin to self doubt. I enjoyed these characters and their story and look forward to the next Linear Tactical adventure.
Another thoroughly enjoyable Linear Tactical romance. On paper Baby and Quinn don’t seem to work. However, in real life they are supportive, passionate, caring and ready for their big adventure.
4.5 Stars
This is book 9 in the series and it features Blake “Baby” Bollinger and Quinn Harrison Pritchard. The surprises just keep coming in this fabulous book! The romance is classic, beautiful, younger man/older woman, which suits Baby to a tee. The mystery and suspense is top notch, which is exactly what we’ve grown accustomed to with this author.
The nickname of “Baby” kept throwing me off and throughout this entire book I was never comfortable calling him “Baby.” Still, the story line is brilliant and the characters are amazing. This author’s stories are always fresh and unexpected.
Oh Baby!
I have been waiting for Blake “Baby” Bollinger’s story for what felt literally like nine months, so when I saw that my Kindle finally seemed fit to alert me that Janie Crouch’s newest Linear Tactical Series offering finally came, I definitely dropped everything and binge-read all 35 chapters in one sitting!
We get to meet Baby early in the series. Younger brother to Finn “Eagle” Bollinger, Baby was the easy-going brother, always there to diffuse a situation with a laugh. He comes across Quinn Harrison-Pritchard, Riley “Phoenix” Harrison’s sister and falls for her, even though they are years apart—Quinn is 12 years his senior.
After having lost her job as a professor in Cambridge—her life upended by an unseen threat—Quinn leaves her life in Boston and decides to live near her brother, Phoenix. Her finances ruined, she applies as a waitress in Oak Creek, where she meets Baby, and realizes that she has a chance at happiness.
I won’t get into too much details. From here on out, I would encourage you to one-click Baby’s story. If you have been following Janie Crouch and haven’t picked this one up, please do so, as this is one good read you wouldn’t want to miss. If this is your first time to read a Linear Tactical novel, I would say go ahead and meet Baby, you won’t regret it!
I think book has to be my one of my new favorites! I loved this story! This book is one of the books you read and wish you could slow down so you won’t finish it too quickly.
His name may be Baby but he’s all man. Baby is loved by everyone. He is always happy go lucky and friendly with everyone. If there is anyone who has the perfect life it is Baby but people don’t know there is something that Baby is hiding. He has a huge secret that no one knows, not even his family or his best friends.
Quinn is a brilliant woman who has fallen into hard times. Her husband tells her one night he wants a divorce and that was only the first of many things that she couldn’t control that changed her life. She packed up all of her things and piled them into her car and drove across the country to the small town her brother has settled down in. When she gets there she just can’t bring herself to tell him about all the sudden changes and she rents a small place and gets a job as a lunchtime waitress. This is not something that she has much experience in and she finds out quickly that being a waitress is a very hard job!
Baby doesn’t like when people are rude and he stands up to a bully at the Eagles Nest. The new waitress was getting hassled by a nurse from the hospital. Baby steps in and shuts her down. This is the first time Baby sets his eyes on Quinn. Her warm brown eyes and tight bun on her head intrigue him. She is older than him but he doesn’t care.
Can these two help each other? They both have secrets. Will releasing the secrets set them free or lock them up? They will have to make some tough choices.
SWOON ALERT…..
It’s fun…It’s flirty… it’s real …..
I just love the chemistry and playfulness between Baby (Blake) and Quinn his Cupcake!
Quinn finds herself in Oak Creek after a scandal destroyed her perfect world. Now she has no husband, no home and no prestigious Harvard Job.
She’s here to make a fresh start and not everyone in her brother Riley Bollinger’s town needs to know what brought her here. Her first day at her new waitressing job she meets Baby. He comes to her rescue. He’s sexy, smoking hot and has a smile that lights up the room.
Baby notices the gorgeous new waitress from the moment he enters the room. He feels an instant connection. When he finds her alone on her birthday a few days later. He can’t seem to stay away and he doesn’t want to.
Baby loves life… He has great friends, he loves his mechanic shop and always makes people laugh. But he’s hiding a secret of his own. He’s not so sure cupcake will be interested if she finds out.
Quinn has troubles of her own when a stalker follows her to Oak Creek. Can Baby and the Linear Tactical team save her when her past comes back to destroy her future?
“ I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”
Too much gratuitous sex.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
Terrific book. I love the Linear Tactical books and this one was no exception. Quinn is Riley (Phoenix) Harrison’s older half-sister. After a run of bad luck that resulted in the end of her marriage, the loss of her prestigious job at Harvard, being blacklisted in the academic community, and financial ruin, Quinn arrives in Oak Creek looking to restart her life. Part of that includes a job as a waitress at the Eagle’s Nest bar. At the age of thirty-nine, it has been many years since she waitressed, but she is desperate for the work. She also has a job teaching at the local college. On her first day, where she wonders if she’ll last the day, she is rescued from an obnoxious customer by the hottest guy she’s ever met.
Baby is Finn’s (Eagle) younger brother. Twenty-seven years old, he is laid-back, always cheerful with a kind word for everyone, and ready to help wherever he is needed. He dropped out of high school at seventeen and went to work for the local mechanic. He has been a regular character in the series, most recently as one of the participants in the Wild Wyoming Adventure Race in Riley’s book. Baby has a lot on his mind right now, as a secret he’s been guarding for most of his life is about to put an end to his career dreams. He hadn’t planned on being distracted by a fascination with the pretty new waitress at the Eagle’s Nest.
I loved watching the relationship between Quinn and Baby develop. The two of them had an instant connection, though Quinn tried hard to resist it. Her life is such a mess that adding a relationship to it is not in her plans, especially one with a man twelve years younger than she is. For Baby, age is just a number. He is drawn to her humor, intelligence, and determination. Quinn is just as drawn to him, but the age difference bothers her, plus everything that has happened to her did a number on her self-confidence. Baby isn’t one to give up and offers some “non-date” get-togethers as friends. Those don’t go quite as he hoped, and I laughed out loud at the “help” he got from Ethan and Jess. Baby had some insecurities of his own. When his secret collided with Quinn’s other life, he had to decide if he was willing to trust her. Quinn’s support and belief in him made a huge difference in the way he saw himself and his future. I think some of the biggest changes were to Quinn. When she arrived in Wyoming she was still the stiff, buttoned-up professor she had been at Harvard. Thanks to Baby, she discovered the more relaxed, fun-loving woman who had been hiding inside. There was a heart-wrenching scene at the end when they allowed their insecurities to pull them apart. I loved the ending and seeing them make their dreams come true. The epilogue was great with a nice surprise for Baby and Quinn.
Baby and Quinn’s friendship and growing feelings aren’t all that is going on. The bad luck that led to Quinn’s flight to Wyoming seems to have followed her. It’s mostly little, annoying things like her credit card not working, and her ex-husband calling to accuse her of harassment. But when break-ins and vandalizing mimic things that happened back in Boston, Quinn begins to question herself. Trouble continues to intensify until her life is in danger. I was on the edge of my seat as Baby and the others raced against time to save her. I loved how Baby’s challenges played such a huge part in the confrontation.
Baby is book 9 in the Linear Tactical series by Janie Crouch. This is Blake (Baby) Bollinger and Quinn Harrison- Pritchard’s story.
Quinn is Boy Riley’s older sister and she is returning back to town after she lost her job at Harvard, her marriage broke completely apart and she’s completely down on her luck. There are twists and turns that elude to Quinn having some serious troubles in her past back in Boston. She doesn’t want to tell her brother about it so she kept it secret. When she comes on Baby, she doesn’t say anything. Baby knows that there’s a problem but doesn’t push. These two have instant chemistry. Baby is the 1st person to want to do something for her…whatever she wants, he’ll do. As sweet as this story is, there is that suspenseful side. Quinn is in trouble, someone is trying to kill her and at the same time, attempting to make Quinn come off as the guilty party. Can Baby save her or will Quinn end up in jail for crimes she didn’t commit? Or worse, dead??
This is a great story full of feels, angst, drama, passion, romance, suspense, intrigue and mystery. Loved the feels and the sparks. Can’t wait for book 10 !!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *********
Baby was another great read in this amazing series. It had a fast-paced, suspenseful storyline that flowed seamlessly. Baby and Quinn were wonderful characters with great chemistry. This is an emotional read that pulls at your heartstrings. I loved catching up with some of the characters from the previous books and I can’t wait to read the next one. I would definitely recommend this book and this amazing series.
The blurb for Baby has to have the most perfect first line of any blurb ever because there is nothing baby-like about Baby. The thing is even though I know his first name, I just don’t think of him by that name. He’s Baby, that’s all there is to it. I have to say that I did like the bit of confusion names caused here. One thing’s for sure, Janie Crouch does chemistry like nobody’s business, and that holds true for Baby and Quinn. She’s a bit older than Baby, but there’s an interesting twist to the dynamic between them. She may be the older one, but given the life she’s led, she’s the more inexperienced between them, so it’s not so much a cougar thing as it could’ve been. No matter the trope, these two are great together. Naturally, there’s some intrigue and danger – it wouldn’t be a Linear Tactical book without those elements. Oh, and a bit of romance angst for the sexy as sin couple, and then the author tempers everything with some well-timed wit and humor. I have to say, in terms of romantic suspense series, this one has it all – romance, suspense, action, danger, strong, independent heroines, and swoon-worthy alpha males who would do anything to protect those women. Baby and Quinn just happen to be the latest fantastic couple in a whole series of them.
I cannot say enough good things about the Linear Tactical series. Janie Crouch is brilliant at weaving romance and suspense. Warning: Do not start this book as an evening read. You will not want to put it down. Filled with love, suspense, mystery, and Linear Tactical family.
The relationship between Baby Bollinger and Quinn Harrison-Pritchard seems mismatched until you get to know them and realize they are perfect for each other. Both a little lost and not wanting to reveal secrets to their families. More worried to be a burden to their family than ask for help.
Baby, always the one smiling and joking, is trying to overcome a hurdle to finally own the garage he has been working at since high school. Just when he thinks his chance has past, he finds himself interested in a new waitress in town with secrets. And he cannot help himself to want to know more about her.
Quinn moves to Oak Creek to start over after what seems to be a string of bad luck. Her brother, Riley Harrison (Phoenix), has made Oak Creek his home, and she hopes it will provide her refuge from the storm that has become her life. No longer the Harvard Professor she thought she wanted, she sets out to take her life back or face the chance she really is delusional.
Wow! I couldn’t put this book down! It grabbed me from the start and I was flipping pages till the very end. Reading it all in one go. It was great addition to the Linear Tactical Series. It was a lighter read and not as much action as previous books but thoroughly Baby’s story.
I do LOVE these stories. This one is awesome. Baby and Quinn it was touch and go there for awhile. So much trouble. Very exciting story and I got the tail end of the last book from a different point of view. That was good. Now on to the next one. Gavin? I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Oh baby….baby….baby….I want my own Baby after this read. This author once again delivers a read that had me glued from the first word to the last and had me second guessing myself on my favorite characters and read from her.
Baby is a mechanic and meets Quinn, who is a University professor and older than him. Their age doesn’t bother him and sets out to prove to Quinn that it shouldn’t bother her either. Quinn moves to the small town where her younger brother has relocated for a fresh start after a disastrous end to her career at her University. She is working part time at the College in town and part time waitressing.
Both Baby and Quinn have their own secrets and as they open up to each other, one of them finds out the reason for their downfall is more than meets the eye.
I’ll say it again…oh baby…baby…baby….Baby is the book boyfriend for everyone and I dare you not to fall for him after reading this.
This read has it all…steam…ahem…steam…oh my…yes…a bit of suspense throughout the read….secrets revealed….amazing characters throughout….some teary eye moments….and a story that flows beautifully without skipping a beat….and the extended epilogue with Baby and Quinn, warning you may need a box of tissues beside you.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Baby’s story is one I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for. There was just something about this charming Bollinger that left me desperate to know more. And while I absolutely adored both him and Quinn, they frustrated me in equal measure. I cannot wrap my brain around the need for Baby’s secret. There should be nothing embarrassing or shameful to him about it, so the fact that he hid it for so long completely baffled me. Maybe it’s because I knew this story would be suspenseful, I was watching for a villain from the very first words. I saw the machinations of a villain. I recognized a villain when one appeared. I know Quinn and Baby weren’t looking for an outside cause of trouble, but that didn’t ease any of my frustration that they weren’t seeing what I did. It broke my heart to watch Quinn heap the blame on herself and lose more and more of her self-confidence because of it. However, I adored watching everything Baby does to bolster that confidence back up. A man supporting his woman in everything she does has got to be one of the sexiest things ever, and it seems to be something these Linear Tactical guys have in common. I may have only just finished reading this one, but already I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
This book is amazing! In fact, I think I say that about all the books in this series. Janie Crouch has a way of writing that just makes you fall in love with the characters. This is one of my favorite series for sure.
Baby Bollinger, younger brother of Finn “Eagle” Bollinger, one of LT’s founders, is outgoing, always smiling, always helping people feel better, ready to help, but he hides a secret deep inside. A secret that, if it got out, could change his life.
Quinn Harrison-Pritchard, sister of Riley “Phoenix” Harrison, professor at Harvard until her world starts crashing down around her. Accused of doing things she knows she didn’t do, she heads to Oak Creek for a new beginning. Unfortunately, things continue in Oak Creek to the point where she’s questioning her own sanity.
Quinn and Baby are such believable characters. They’re well-written and I’ve fallen in love with them. Each return to Oak Creek is like going home to family and friends. You can read this as a standalone book, but all characters are intertwined in all the books. I’ve really enjoyed this series and keep thinking that they just can’t get any better, but they always do!
Disclosure: I received an ARC copy of Janie’s book for an honest review and, honestly, if you like RS, then you should definitely read this book — or the entire series. It’s amazing!
My favorite hero yet! With book nine in her always exciting Linear Tactical series Janie Crouch brings the sweetest guy around to the forefront in BABY. The characters were easy to connect with from the very start, the intrigue was light but pointed and their chemistry was out of this world. A bit of a rushed ending, but I loved their story!
Quinn Harrison-Pritchard has us on her side the moment we hear what she’s been going through as her world crumbles around her. She’s self-assured even when things are looking bleak, and watching her fall for this younger man who seems intent to have her even though she’s no catch at the moment is heartwarming.
Blake “Baby” Bollinger is the epitome of a nice guy! He’s sweet, he’s sincere and he’s just down right kindhearted. Deadlines are looming in his life that make him have to out his secrets when it’s not something that he normally likes to do, but getting to that happily ever after counts on it.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who likes high action plots filled with a close-knit group of family and friends who always have each others back no matter the circumstance. Lots of action and suspense are always guaranteed.
