Fate is just a made-up word used to give us hope or absolution. We find hope when we believe bad things happen to us for a reason. We find absolution when we feel as though the wrongs of our past were just fate’s twisted design to bring us to our present, and all of it was out of our hands. Of course, I sort of change my mind after meeting Axle. The man with scars and haunted, cold eyes. The man … Axle. The man with scars and haunted, cold eyes. The man who only warms when he is around me. The first man I believe won’t cost me my life. The first man I’ve ever believed to actually be honorable, despite the fact he’s a ruthless criminal.
Only the craziest of fates could have put us in the paths of each other. More of a collision course, really.
Life gets complicated. Shit happens. And I sort of fall harder than I thought possible.
The first time we met, I was in my pajamas and cowering on the floorboard of his SUV, hiding from my very insane brother. Lovely first impression, I assure you.
The second time we met, I was literally skating around a bunch of corpses, because I’m slightly crazy like that. Long story.
Obviously my second impression had just as much impact as my first. Because he fell head-over-heels in love with me in that instant.
Kidding. That last part is complete bullshit. Axle is far more complicated than insta-love nonsense. Which is one of my favorite things about him.
Everything about us is perfectly complicated and wonderfully disastrous.
It’s what every girl dreams of…as long as they’re as crazy as I am.
And I’m just crazy enough to hold on, because I don’t mind being the psycho chick in roller skates, who is flipping fate the bird when it tries to intervene again. It’s just one of my quirks. Turns out, I’m Axle’s brand of crazy too.
Life should be really freaking interesting. Or catastrophic. Or psychopathic.
I guess it depends on how much madness you can embrace.

Mia and Axle started off on the wrong foot. He thought that there was something wrong with this girl hiding in his vehicle. And Mia was drawn to the dark and dangerous man that is Axle from the start.
Mia came into Axle’s life like a grenade. Right off the bat you knew that she was a little crazy and unstable, but she didnt care that people saw this side of her, she owned it. This was her defense against anyone that could get close to her. And it was this craziness that about her that made her be able to look past the physical scars that covered Axle’s body and see the man that there was to be found underneath. Their relationship was one that was full of crazy from both. The rest of the action that was happening around them was a bonus, and added to theor story.
C.M. Owens is one of my go to authors, and she didnt disappoint me yet again. she mixed the perfect amount suspense, humor, action and sex into yet another masterpiece.
So I’m a sucker for a scarred alpha man. But I loved Maya and her roller skates! All the characters in this series are so amazing and each book sucks you in until it’s almost impossible to put them down. SarahAJ or whoever she is better get a book or I’m going to be devastated, she’s badass and probably my fave of all the girls so far…
The first time Maya met Axle she was hiding in his vehicle and trying to get away from her murderous brother who had betrayed her family. The second time she met Axle she was roller skating around corpses picking their pockets. When his MC is told to protect her they step up but they have no idea who she is or why she is in such danger.
Maya finds Axle attractive, she sees his scars but to her that shows strength. Deciding she is bunking with him she offers herself freely but Axle is weary of the mysterious woman and when gets a handle on who she is he decides he has to go all in but what happens when their watch ends?
This was darker than most of C.M. Owens books and I thought the characters were much more complex. I loved Maya, she is nuts, blunt, and perfect for broody Axle. I enjoyed every moment of this story definitely one of my favorites by this author. Can’t wait to see what is next.
Loved it! Man, this author knows how to write! Axel is my new favorite MC alpha. I loved everything about him, his lady and this story! A plus perfection. The balance of passion, humor, violence and sweetness is what made this book for me.
AhHAHAHAHAHhahahHAHAHahahah
^ That’s my entire review! Lol.
I never thought an MC romance with blood, gore, kidnapping, and torture could be so fricking hilarious! The first time Maya met Axle, she was hiding from her junkie brother. The second time, she was roller blading out of a warehouse full of dead bodies. Maya has a secret: her identity. She’s in Halo on a mission that could end badly with many lives lost or succeed in taking down a major criminal. Sarah/AJ has been helping, but now the newly renamed Death Chasers MC is in charge of her protection and tasked with an order that will put them back in the black. Axle has lived through hell. He’s come out the other side, but not without many scars. No girl or even guy can stand to look at his full disfigurement, so finding a girl sexually attracted to him isn’t something he’s ever encountered. Until Maya. But she must have an ulterior motive. Right?
Maya is the absolute greatest! Her insanity is only matched by her loyalty. Her reasons for loving Axle as opposed to any of the ‘pretty’ boys is emotional and made me love her even more. Axle showed an insecurity that I wasn’t expecting and his retelling of his past and his scars was horrific and jaw-dropping in it’s realness. Both characters has so much depth that I couldn’t help but want more!
Maya is my new girl-crush! Strong, fierce, brave, and empathetic. She’s the ultimate female lead. Sarah/AJ is going to have a battle on her hands! Can’t wait to see how she measures up!

I enjoyed the motorcycle club. They are not out to be violent although they handle it well when it comes. Very loyal club.
