There’s more to me than just being awk-weird. I own my own flower shop, have some great friends, and I have my eye on adopting the most adorable kitten. But sadly, hot guys don’t tend to be blown away by my trivia-spouting, dorky self. So when a Thor-lookalike who happens to be a professional hockey player hits on me at my bestie’s wedding rehearsal party… You better believe I climbed that … climbed that tree like a cat. And the fact that it happened not once, not twice, but three times? Yeah, that’s pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a woman like me.
There’s zero chance I’ll end up ever seeing him again…right?
Until the pregnancy test comes up positive. What happens next?
Oh my God, I wish I knew…

Love me some Avery Dare! Avery gives you a rom-com romp you don’t want to miss and Awk-weird is the perfect page-turner!
Avery Flynn never disappoints–witty, sexy, and flat-out fun!
I really thought this was a pretty good read–fairly fast paced with dialogue that ranged from quirky to funny to sweet. Sometimes idiocy popped up lol, but real and serious emotional issues were also addressed.
Cole and Tess were love challenged for sure. So what if the cart came before the horse, they needed the help, in whatever form it came, to figure out nothing is guaranteed, change is inevitable, and just maybe love makes life so much better. Chemistry and intense heat included.
The Ice Knights also got to play hockey, share some insight to the game, how long the season lasts, what players do pre/post games and more, described so well, it was very easy to stay involved.
I received an advance reader’s copy thru Netgalley and am freely giving my honest thoughts and opinions
What do you get when you put together a nerdy heroine, a hot hockey god and a surprise pregnancy? An amazing, funny and sweet friends to lovers romance story! Awk-Weird (Ice Knights #2) really was the cutest book ever and a fantastic follow up to Parental Guidance. Watching these complete opposites try to navigate the result of a one-night stand while both adamantly declaring they won’t fall for the other was funny, sweet and swoony. Tess is crazy smart but a little lost in life. Cole is a successful hockey player who has every detail of his life figured out. These two people shouldn’t work together but somehow they do. However, in the long run, will Cole be willing to change his ways or his plans for his life? Will Tess be willing to open her heart to love and a relationship? Is a baby the only thing tethering these two people together?Trust me, you want to read this story to find out.
This book can be a read as a stand-alone; although why you would skip Parental Guidance makes no sense to me. These books are just really fun, light and enjoyable reads with a good amount of steam. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Funny, steamy romance with wonderful characters – another great read from Avery Flynn!
This book was a bit slow to get started, at times I just sighed at the dance these two did around each other. But when the words did take off, it had me hooked!
Tess & Cole meet at a wedding, end up spending the night together, she said it’s just a one time thing, and she really thought that’s what it would be…till a month later when she ended up pregnant, and yes they used protection!
Follow their story, as each one of them has their own demons they deal with on a daily basis, but see if they can come together and help each other deal and get past the demons. 4 stars for this one, looking forward to the next one in this series!
Tess Gardner is the girl who tries to be invisible. She is awkward, shy, quirky, and highly intelligent. She has watched all her friends fall in love and she is the lone single girl, but she has a long history of being left behind.
Cole Phillips is hot on and off the ice, but his long term on again off again relationship is now back off. He is smart, a bit rigid, and hates change. He lives a perfectly ritualistic and orderly life and he thinks it will all be the same again once his ex returns.
An alcohol-tinged wedding meet-cute has Tess and Cole to getting carried away. They do something totally out of character and then go their separate ways…until later when Tess has something to tell him. And things get even more complicated after that. Cole’s carefully ordered life is about to change in more ways than one. But Tess is used to being temporary and has such insecurities and defenses up. But I loved them together.
This is a funny, sexy, and heartfelt love story with an unlikely couple that shake up each other’s worlds. It is a pretty common trope but their backgrounds and quirks give it more depth. Their pasts have shaped them and affect their current decisions and thoughts. They are both forced outside their comfort zones and try to let go of their defense mechanisms. But the angst is strong with these two while the communication is not.
This was my first book by Avery Flynn and it was enjoyable and easy to follow without being familiar with the other couples, but I am sure that will just make her fans even happier to hang out with them more. They definitely had to run interference and do a few reality checks for their friends.
Arc provided in exchange for an honest review
Love this Avery Flynn novel with a quirky heroine and an endearing hero. All the elements that make an Avery Flynn book a joy to read. The great supportive friend group, the macho professional hockey players, the demon kitten, the fun, the drama–pure joy!
A nice bit of just-for-fun.
Loved this whole series!
It was a cute and fun story! Who doesn’t love a cute hockey player? I love Cole and Tess’s connection – how goofy and playful they were.
Loved the characters and the story…….trivia…who knew!!!!
What a fun read! Not heavy at all but with just enough character growth.
Fast, enjoyable read…. humor between the characters keeps moving the story along.
I’ll read pretty much anything from Avery Flynn. She has a fun and witty writing style and you fall in love with her characters. I love re-visiting people from other books as well, since I kind of miss them when her books end.
I love books with alpha hockey players. And boy is there in this book. #2 in Avery Flynn’s series Ice mKnights. It’s everything you could ask for: A fact spewing flower shop heroine and an equally fact spewing hockey hero. They have an enchanting encounter that results in, you guessed it, a pregnancy. It’s a funny Rom com that’s sure to tickle your funny bone.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, it was a fun read.
I LOVED this wonderful, snarky, and funny book, Awk-Weird by Avery Flynn, the book two in her Ice Knights series. This book had me on an emotional journey as we followed Fallon and Zach’s love story. This amazing story pulls out all the stops. The awkwardness of the characters and their unusual situation made for laugh out loud scenes as well as very serious situations. Adding supportive friends as sounding boards, was brilliant by Ms. Flynn.
Ms. Flynn wrote a wonderful and hysterical story that was moving and filled with sizzling chemistry, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters that should definitely not be missed. I highly recommend Awk-Weird to other readers.
Awk-Weird is a phenomenal sport romance by Avery Flynn. Ms. Flynn once again had me laughing from cover to cover. This well-written book is populated with an outstanding cast of characters. Sport romances are not my thing but I do enjoy Ms. Flynn’s writing so I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. Tess is awkwardly weird but in a lovable way. She owns a flower shop and lives in the apartment above it. Cole plays hockey and is struggling with the new plays. He meets Tess at a wedding. Tess and Cole’s story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits and did I mention it’s hilarious? I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Avery Flynn. Awk-Weird is book 2 of the Ice Knights Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
After a night of riotous sex, Tess is nearly late for the wedding. She gives Cole an out by telling him they’d been wedding-ed and what happened wasn’t their fault. But when they realize the expiration date on the condoms they’d used turned their one-night stand into something more, they’re forced to take a second look at each other. Could they find their forever person with one another? Busted pipes and a leaking ceiling has Tess in Cole’s guestroom messing up his well-ordered life. Cole likes things to always be one way but with Tess around things never go the way he expects and maybe, just maybe, that’s a good thing.
I loved this story, laughing and crying and swooning right alongside the pair as they navigate romance in reverse.
