NYXI didn’t know I was so set on truths until I realized my whole life was a lie.Being banished to Arcadia Prep. The myths we thought were just empty threats meant to iron out bad behavior. All of it was a neatly packaged lie. Hell raged in the pit of my stomach and now we were free to wreak havoc on humanity.LUNAThe truth was simple: I was a good girl meant to heal the wounded and help uphold the … heal the wounded and help uphold the truth.
I’m the one who tore the truth down.
I stomped on it and set it on fire.
I did everything that didn’t add up to the me I cultivated.
I was a perfectly packaged lie.

This book picks up right where Awful Curse left off and we start to see the fallout of the events that occurred during the ritual. It follows Nyx and Luna’s story, but also has some POV’s from some of the others.
I felt for Luna in this story. She is struggling with a side of her that she did not know existed and falls prey to Dorian. Luna’s character progresses so much during this book and comes into her true nature.
Nyx has this attitude that he doesn’t care about anything or any kind of consequences, unless it comes to Luna. He is the Prince of Hell, so why wouldn’t he be dark and broody and everything I look for in an antihero
Nyx and Luna have so much anger, lust, and tension, that they are a bomb waiting to go off. And when it does, they are unstoppable. Luna holds Nyx at arms length, all while trying to keep him as close as possible.
There are so many secrets and twists that are thrown at you. This world is so complex and there are many different layers to everything/everyone. Every character has a role to play and we are starting to learn more and more about everyone.
After that cliffhanger, I am left so many questions that I have and I am eagerly awaiting more books in this series. Who do I have to beg to make that happen? Give me more, please!
OK, it is official, Monroe has officially won me over to her Celestial Bodies series! While this story centers heavily around Nyx & Luna it also gives us so much more. Awful Intentions sees the infamous Circle dealing with the drudgery of everyday life. Not all of their past struggles have been resolved and some of them seem to be firmly set in the “fake it until you make it” category of coping with past events. I really enjoy Monroe’s modern take on mythology. She weaves it beautifully into a story that is both astrological fiction and urban fantasy. This story is toted as a paranormal romance, and yes it has those elements in it, however I would say that in this book (as with the last book) the romance aspect is almost secondary to the main story line. The more I read in this series the more I can appreciate that style of writing. There were plenty of hints dropped in this story that set us up quite nicely for where the series will head next and I’m very interested to see where the next book takes us. Personally I’d like to know more about some of the less featured members of the Circle. Drama and angst abound and like any good sideline observer I will be anxiously awaiting the next book with popcorn handy!
Words can’t describe how much I really loved this book and more than the first one even
This book takes off from the first one in the Celestial Bodies series where things took a turn! Without spoiling things from book 1, this is Nyx and Luna’s story with other characters of course but this was soley on the couple who are fighting their demons, their flight or fight kind of life.
Luna is fighting with herself, wondering who she is, is she a good girl or a bad girl? She was someone who was soft and caring but with the events from book 1, everything has changed, for the worst or the better? Read to find out. Nyx is a very dangerous angsty yet loving guy who’s willing to do anything for the one he loves. Even doing the worst thing: killing….(your welcome on the tease ) He’s so adventurous and not giving a shit on what he does and says, the unapologetic trait of his. He has demons, yet he doesn’t share them with anyone, he’s so stubborn you’re heart would break for what he’s gone through and what happens in this book!
Both Nyx and Luna have a very passionate yet heavy and complicated relationship. They say and do things they never meant to do to each other. There are times where I wanted to shake Luna I didn’t like how naive and slow she was. Hurting Nyx when he loved her no matter what! Ahh I can’t Mythology and astrology signs may have fate already written in the stars & their past happened already but no they decided to rewrite their fate.
This atmosphere of reading this book felt really different from book 1, in a deep pulling you in way Let’s not forget the side characters too because they leave you wondering what’s their story.
Thank you to Elena Monroe and BooksnMoods
for this digital copy, so sorry for thr late review!! I humbly appreciate it!
Man this book is more confusing than the first one lol, Amber told me it would be.
This one gives us more insight on Luna and Nyx relationship, and even though we get some answers we also get more mysteries. I think that things would be so much better if the Circle started working together instead of keeping the secrets.
But even after all the frustrations and confusion I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait for the next one.
Elena has gone and done it again my friends!!!
God, or GODS!! This book was everything! Probably gonna be a short review cuz I can’t even have warnings of spoilers, you just NEED to read this.
I loved Nyx and Luna in Awful Curse(book1). And I mean I am a Scorpio like Nyx hehe. But to have them be the main focus point of the story was just incredible. They have sooo much to them.
Picking up after how book 1 ended was the best. And I felt for Luna. Poor girl was just outta it and all over the place. But to have Nyx still be right there and waiting for her to come back to him made my heart just burst! I loved seeing that side of Nyx. But there was times, a lot of times that I was yelling at my kindle at both Luna and Nyx because of their actions lol.
But this wouldn’t be a true Elena Monroe book without twist and turns, and boyyyy you get them. I also really loved that she kept the different POV’s of all the other side characters. I love when authors do that in books. Helps set the story up more. Especially when it is a group of friends like them. They are Greek Gods, they all are stuck together. So to get other POVs is always so refreshing.
5⃣
recommendation!!
Oh My Lanta!!! I’ve been dying for Nyx since book one and Monroe didn’t disappoint! The angst and confusion is high as we tread through the aftermath of book one’s ritual! The circle is now disbanded and everyone is trying to adjust to their new normal. It’s funny and crazy and addictive, these celestial beings among our regular joes. Nyx is Everything! He’s Dark and Broody, he’s the quiet one who is comfortable in Darkness and so full of rage but he also has a vulnerable side! I loved everything about him! He has come to terms with his feelings for Luna, the ball is now in her court. If I got to choose a Book Boyfriend it would most definitely be Nyx!!! I Claim him!!! Luna gave me mixed feelings. My heart broke for her and everything she has gone through and still trying to figure out. I got super emotional with her and had some very “shouty” moments with her! lol, She gave us some unexpected surprises that leave you glued to the edge of your seat! I cannot explain how perfectly matched these two are! The chemistry is unreal and these two are oh so very steamy! Monroe is known to dig deep into your heart and give you all kinds of feels, her characters make you work for it! I love it, her characters are so original and complex! We got bits and pieces of points of view from the other characters and now I’m very intrigued and dying for the next book! I also have a new obsession that’s Kate! In true greek mythology lore fashion, Kate is in the mess! I ate up all those pieces of her we got! We get Daddy H in this book and that was the Mother of all surprises!!! I’m so weak for these characters! I will never get enough of Monroe’s words and this book gave me a much-needed escape! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If I thought book one was amazing, book two completely blew me away! This series is full of captivating characters and an intricate world full of good, evil and a lot of grey area. I was so invested in this story and dare I say, I loved this book better than the first.
Nyx and Luna were introduced in book one and I was always fascinated by their story. I love angst and I could feel it radiating off of them in waves. Plus I am always a sucker for a bit of forbiddeness in my romances and this one did not disappoint! Nyx and Luna have got to be one of my all-time favorite book couples. They are like sweet and sour, yin and yang, complete opposites…but as the story progresses, the waters become muddy and they somehow find middle ground. It was perfection in every way and I would not change a single word of it!
I don’t want to explain too much of the plot because I felt like this story was full of twists and turns. I was completely shocked a time or two which made it so fun! This book expands so much more of the intricacies of this world. The rules, politics and relationships are all unraveled more.
The characters were explored so deeply within this book. I learned so much more about their secrets, dark histories and their desires. It also made me really excited to get to the next books. Whenever I think I have a grasp about what is going on, more secrets are revealed and it throws me for a loop.
This is one of the most uniquely, dark series I have read and I am so happy that I found it. I have fallen in love with these characters and their ever evolving relationships with each other. I highly recommend these books!
*I have heard that this book could be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading them in order to get the best experience. Book one is amazing and this world does have a lot going on in it, so I think that readers might take a while to pick up on everything if they jump right into Awful Intentions.
3.5 Stars
Awful intentions is the second book in Celestial Bodies Series. It picks up right where it left on in the first book called Awful Curse. I thought the story was interesting, bully romance, paranormal, angsty, and mythology aspects. Nix and Luna are complex characters, and even though they shouldn’t work as a couple, they have a undenible connection. I liked seeing the other characters as well. Looking forward to reading the next couple’s story in this series.
I loved this book! Nyx is an ass hole but he has a soft spot for Luna. Luna is a good girl who helps to keep everyone around her happy and is the sweet and innocent one. Or at least that’s what she wants everyone to believe! Luna and Nyx should be all wrong for each other but they can’t help but be pulled together.
Nyx wanted to love the darkness too, when all I wanted was to forget it existed inside me, like some viral disease, felt and not seen. Dorian was my boss—one with pretty grey eyes and a habit of touching me when he complimented me. With Dorian, I was begging the old me to come back. With Nyx, I was wishing it to stay.
I have received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
A captivating story of Ungodly gods .
This is book 2 of the Celestial bodies series .
It continues right where the first one ends however focuses on Luna and Nyx’s relationship while continuing the story .
I strongly recommend reading arianna and Bolton’s story first as I would have been lost, I think, if I didn’t .
Ok having said that – I really enjoyed this book ! Nyx is the son of Hades – the king of the underworld. His undertone is darkness. He’s quiet and reserved and only speaks when he has something important to say. and he’s undeniably in love with Luna – though he has no clue how to show her.
Luna is confused. She is battling her own beliefs of who she is and whether the good side of her or the bad should be dominant . Nyx is always there waiting for her to find herself and come to him.
The focus of the bigger story is that there is a circle of young gods – the children of the gods. They were trapped in Arcadia prep school for 14 years however the failed attempt at a ritual they hoped would take them home just made the illusion of their school disappear and now they have to find their way in the mortal human world . Some are still focused on getting ‘home’ others just want to survive . But all of them are connected in the circle – and then there’s ‘the cloth’ – a group that believe the circle are all the devils children and want to destroy them .
As the story unfolds we learn more about ‘the cloth’ -but there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding this group and what they want .
This is normally the kind of story I’d rather wait until they are all released to read as I hate the wait in between haha . But I won’t because I’m already invested now !
I believe Next up is Jaspers story !! And I eagerly await its release !!
I’ll admit this isn’t exactly my wheelhouse- well some of it- we’ve got the bully romance thing going on, which is very much my forte. I do enjoy paranormal, but normal of the wolfie variety, so the celestial Gods/mythology is a bit outside of my norm. I definitely enjoyed this book more than the first (which I liked “okay”)- I think Elena’s hitting her stride, we know the characters more, and I’m a lot less confused as we’ve figured some stuff out.
This book focuses mostly on Luna and Nyx- although we have some extra POVs throughout. This is hard core angsty- Nyx is the literal sone of Hades, so basically as “bad boy” as you can get, and Luna is a bit lost and confused as to what she wants, she’s just struggling so much to figure herself out and is so insecure. At times, her refusal to see the big picture or to accept her feelings bugged me, although I understand her struggling to make sense of her part in the events of book 1. Nyx has a much clearer characterization- he starts as an enigma that fascinated me since book 1, but I found him to have such depth- he’s stoic yet magnetic. Their relationship is definitely a rocky journey- lots of desire, lots of hurting. I do appreciate how this author doesn’t’ feel the need to “pretty up” her characters- they are flawed, at times wrong and bad- like all of us they are complex and have shades of all instincts.
Lots of crazy stuff goes down as we dig into this complex relationship and cast of characters. We’ve still got that air of mystery and complexity and the hidden motives- I found myself scratching my head more in the first book- so things felt more tight and clear here, but we still have all the nuance and intensity. And the ending. Needless to say, interesting things to come. More questions to be answered.
Overall 3.5 stars- enjoyable read!
Alright. So this was my second book by Elena monroe, after the first book in the celestial bodies. And just like that book too, I really like the way she manipulates the story line and forces us to see the story from all perspectives. The characters of the story were perfect and the ending was damn good. There were parts of the story were I found the story a bit dull, but then Elena made up for those parts by giving us even more interesting stuff after wards. Overall this book is recommended to all the fantasy romance lovers, with a mix of high school romance in the book!!!!
So the story continues with Awful Intentions and is another story that will have you hooked! Nyx & Luna’s journey is hot and dark! Loved getting more of the circle of gods! That ending left me wondering??? (less)
I LOVE this series! It’s complex and twisted and I’ve never read anything like it before ! I absolutely am in love with this world and the characters that this author has created and I’m dying for more ! Definite must read if you are a fan of Paranormal romance or Greek Mythology and astrology than you need to read this series! I’m telling you there is nothing like this it’s different and unique and I can’t get enough of Arcadia Prep !!! Can’t wait for more from this author!
***ARC GIVEN FOR MY HONEST OPINION ***
Much like the first book, I was taken by the gorgeous cover and love the idea behind the mythology, but still found myself wanting MORE of that aspect. For example, there are other characters largely forgotten that don’t even rate a mention until the end. There are some ideas that feel really repetitive and I don’t understand why some of the characters seem to flip flop completely for no reason at points.
Nyx and Luna are endgame, but their journey is really not pretty. The ending was no unexpected but left the door open for all that’s coming.
I remain intrigued for where this is going!
Totally captivating and mesmerising, this book was beyond my expectation. Simply love Nyx and Luna, the elements of Greek Mythology and the angst. Elena did a wonderful job with this HEA novel.
This story is so intriguing!
They’re Gods stuck in the mortal world and Nyx is to be king of the Underworld.
Everyone thinks Luna the epitome of good. But they get to see just how bad she really is.
I loved the characters growth in this story. Luna being herself and showing her bad is probably my favorite!
I have Sooo many questions that I need answers to. I can’t wait to figure it all out. I definitely need more of these Gods!
I cannot get over this world that Elena has created. She makes magic in these pages and I am fully enchanted by it all. These characters are complex in their emotions as well as everything happening around them. Nothing is an easy road, this story is no fairytale. Nyx and Luna cut deep into each other every chance they get and make no apologies for it.
But when these two are together, they clash and burn so fiercely and deeply. It’s all consuming and insanely HOT. Nyx is battered and bruised on the inside but keeps the facade of broody, misunderstood, and hot asf. Luna may be sweet and innocent but something dark lingers under the surface.
I was happy to see glimpse of Arianna and Bolton again. As well as the others in this group of misfits. I’m so excited for the next book which I’ll be impatiently waiting for. Fantastic read!
This book is so much more than friends-to-lovers, it has action, friendship and a level of hotness that we only can see in Elena’s books, a series that will blow your mind and will leave you wanting, no, panting for more
I held her small features in my hands, still too stunned to respond. I should have told her that she could go on a killing spree, and I wouldn’t love her any less. We were a match made in Hell.
OH.MY.GOD YES this was my first thought once I read the last chapter of the book. THIS story, so many things happen in it that you don’t know what you think. When I read the first one of the series I was in awe of the characters and this new world of Signs and Gods Elena created it. It’s really amazing the talent she has to come up with such a unique and mindblowing story like this, I fell in love with her writing on her first series, the Amherst Sinners, and since that she became one of my fav authors.
This book evokes so many emotions form me that I cannot describe them, fire, power, doubts, and sorrow are some of the things all the characters convoy thought the story, they are all trying to discover their purpose on this book, after Arcadia, everything changed and nothing ever will be the same. One of the things that I love the most in the group she created, is that each and every one of them is so different yet with something that connects them and the way they all stick together when it comes to needing help.
Nyx and Luna are a whole new level of a couple. He’s strong, alpha and all bad boy, the prince of the Underworld with no regrets and giving two shits about what others think, he talks his mind and doesn’t regret a thing he does, except when It comes to her. Luna. I love this heroine, this shy girl with her pale skin and ginger hair, she believes so little of herself, but she’s so much more. I love her strength, her commitment to help and heal other..she’s the friend we all wish we had, head over hills for Nyx’s the combination of the both of them it’s explosive and makes the interaction between them even more interesting.
He knows her, just she knows him, this push and pulls, cat and mouse game they play..is becoming more dangerous by the day..will they be able to resist each other?
I was so excited to dive back into this incredible world of mythological gods, astrology, and brooding bad boys that Elena Monroe has perfectly crafted. Especially after where Awful Curse leaves off! I love seeing the circle, now grappling with the events of Awful Curse, truly existing in the modern world outside of the boundaries of Arcadia. The world grows in such a delicious way as Monroe weaves an addictive tale of mystery, suspense, and drama that will keep you madly flipping pages to find out more.
I also loved getting Nyx and Luna’s story! What an intense and steamy friends-to-lovers romance they have! I loved them in book 1, but their story blooms off the page in ways that will twist your heart now that you get inside their heads. They have insane chemistry and I love how complicated things get between them. I adored Luna and her struggle with how she changed, learning who she was. And Nyx, oh my god. He’s delicious!
I really enjoy the way Monroe sets the scenes, creating such an immersive world that sends the reader on a wonderful journey. The characters in this series are amazing and with each book I fall more in love with everything about the Celestial Bodies world! It’s captivating and a must-read!
