Everyone sees from their own perspective, they say. But I’ve always seen things that aren’t there. As a child I called them fairies.I didn’t know how right I was.My parents tried to cure me by giving me a new lens through which to see the world: a camera. My nan thinks she has the answer with herbal concoctions and effigy’s to ward off evil. The doctor calls it mental illness and tells me to eat … mental illness and tells me to eat right and take my meds.
But none of them work.
The world jumps and shifts and changes, showing me things no one else sees.
I think I’m mad, until the day I photograph a friend’s lavish party – where rules and inhibitions are tossed aside along with clothes. Nothing had prepared me for these sights or for them: the Changelings.
A group of bad boys who glimmer in my messed up vision. I’m irresistibly drawn into their web. Into their musical world of debauched sensuality where I am called to document their band’s tour.
Nan’s warnings of the fair folk don’t even cross my mind. Swept up in their fairy ring my crazy vision finally makes sense, and I’m not sure I ever want to leave. Or should I want to leave?
Author note: This is an RH tale so one woman, multiple love interests. 18+ only for adult content.

Holy crap this book was insane, in a good way. I think a need a drink and a smoke. This book was great. I loved all the characters. Jen, vervain and Marlow are my favs. Dave I don’t know how I feel about him, I’m thinking evil but too early to know for sure. Johnno is hot hot hot. His brother Liam I want to throat punch. Her parents, what absolute assholes. You’ll see what I mean when you get there. Now Kira she’s my hero. The fact she lived her whole life thinking she had a mental illness but still had the strength and courage to plow forward and except the truth without hesitation, is pretty fantastic. Mark I’m so disappointed with. There were some twist and turns. The epilogue is a cliffy. The author did some great world building and overall a wonderful read. Can’t wait for more
A Rare Find
As an avid reader, it’s rare that a book can twist in a way that is so surprising I want to start screaming.
6% in and I knew, I just KNEW, this was going to be a book that left me eagerly (borderline obsessively) awaiting the next one. I wish I could do a reaction video like the young ones do on TikTok and YouTube… because holy hell Sam Hall you had me feeling all the emotions. I was laughing, smiling, cheering, taking cold showers, and watching the political stand offs like I was involved, haha.
The best way to describe this book is like a slab of marble; the darkness so intricately and beautifully designed that it has you questioning your own reactions.
Make sure you have time before you begin reading. Start to finish this book will have you wanting to call in sick to work (I’m already 20 minutes behind schedule but quarantine rules and all that jazz) just to finish. I kept having to circle back too, because of the twists just to see if there was any way of me foreshadowing such a thing and there’s not.
I’m obsessed with this book like an addict and I cannot wait for the next.
Oh em gee! I was sucked straight into the pages early, aching for the covers to close and leave me stranded inside this world! Sam, your writing speaks to my soul – you just get me! Wonderful.
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
Dude!!! I don’t even know if I have the words to express my deep undying love for this book. The writing is amazing, the storyline is epic and the characters are delicious, how could I not love this book.
Away with the Faeries is the first book the Get Your Rocks Off series by Sam Hall. This is a paranormal reverse harem that is full of gorgeous fashion, amazing art, sexy rockstars, and best of all, the fae. Kira is the main female character who is about to get a crash course into the supernatural world. When a job at her best friend’s estate gets a little too wild Kira starts to believe that maybe her crazy nan was right, that the fae are all around us.
Kira is so close to my heart. She is an introvert who lives on her family’s property in a small town in Australia. Kira is shy and with her illness likes to not cause too many problems for the people in her life. One of my favorite things about her is that she is a photographer. She takes amazing pictures and the way her brain works is fascinating. Kira examines everything with an artist’s eye, the way she sees a scene in front of her the way she breaks down people into composites is different than anything I have come across.
After Kira is exposed to the supernatural world she tries to figure out her place in this new world, who she is, and what she truly wants. She is experiencing things for the first time and she is doing it basically on her own which is gives her confidence that she didn’t have before and she is doing it with wit, sassy and a whole lot of something and I loved it.
The only downside to this book was that I wish I had scenes from the guys pov and I wished Sam delved more into Kira’s relationship with her best friend. Jennifer Rutherglen, who is a rich daddy’s girl but loves Kira with her whole heart, the two get along so well so I would have loved to see more scenes with these to but the story didn’t necessarily call for it. It’s just that Jen is a bit of a mystery, she is more than a pretty face and seems like it would have been an interesting addition to the story.
Let’s talk boys. I don’t want to give to much away but there are two guys that I am in total gaga with, and one of them was quite the surprise but reminds me of another character in another book that I absolutely love and at this point, I’m starting to think I have a type. He makes an appearance kinda late but damn, what an appearance. As for the band, I’m not sure what I feel about the boys. They have a lot to make up for and of course, there is the one guy who wants to fight destiny. We haven’t even gotten to his crap yet but it’s gonna be interesting seeing how Kira handles the guys and vice versa.
Away with the Faeries is such an interesting story with a unique twist to the fae lore. It’s filled with fae politics, sex, faery deals, fae laws and so much more. Sam has a very descriptive way of writing without overdoing it but making things seem more. The story flowed so smoothly and the fae are everything I could have wanted them to be, sexy, dangerous, glamorous, that through lavish and outrageous parties that you kinda just wish you were invited to, even me and I’m an introvert. I loved every second of this book and it ends on a cliffhanger which kills me, I’m already dying for the next and I might be willing to make a faery deal to get my hands on it.
This book… I don’t even know where to begin.. it was amazing. I started reading it right before bedtime thinking I’d get through a few chapters and pick it back up in the morning.. NOPE.. Could. Not. Put. It. Down. It was all sex, drugs and rock n roll and hey, let’s add some faerie magic into the mix just for shits and giggles. I LOVED it. I love the mystery that surrounds Kira’s illness and how you have all these people who are in on what’s going on while she’s just there, trying to break down her favorite band to show the world who they are. And then once the real magic hits and she’s thrust into a new world of pretty with a heavy side of manipulation.. and she’s finally said fuck it, I’m not just going let everyone just railroad me anymore and learns how to say “no”. LOVED IT. Ok, so I may not be making sense at all, but seriously.. I finished this book hours ago and my thoughts are still going a mile a minute. I’m everywhere and this book put me there. Want to know the real kicker though? I don’t even like the whole rockstar trope thing, but when Sam Hall said she was doing a book with rockstar faeries I was like sign me up! because this woman makes magic happen. And what an amazing job she did. This book gave me some major vibes. Yeah.. maybe I’ll come back in a few days and try to write a better review for you because I just can’t put it into real, coherent thoughts right now. Oh.. did you ever read The Hunger Games? Did you like Cinna? Well bisch.. you better go on and grab this book because my man Marlow is going to make you forget all about Cinna. Who? That’s right.. he is no one now compared to Marlow . Ok seriously, I’m done for now and will revisit this review when I’ve chilled out some; this book has made me feel as though I’ve just down 4 cups of coffee and they are all starting to hit my system.
GET THIS BOOK NOW!! You won’t regret it.
Wow!! I could not put this down! It is ao intriguing, flows so smoothly, and I just thought that I was a part of the story. I felt so many emotions throughly the book. I realize that this book just came out, but I’m so ready for the next one!
So many things going on, so much to take in and process. Perfection. Patiently awaiting the continuation of this story. I absolutely need to know where Ki goes from here.
I love this book! What an amazing start to this new series! The characters, character development, and storyline are phenomenal! The FMC, Kira, goes through this amazing transformation throughout the book that is so beautifully written. The storyline has intrigue, suspense, sexiness, and so, so much more! This is one of those books that is impossible to put down. A 5+ , 100% must read that you do not want to miss! I literally cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!
Wow this book was so good. A completely unique twist to fae/faeries. I can’t wait to see what happens next for Kira and her guys. This was my first book by Sam Hall and it will not be my last.
This is a great book. I want the next book like now!
I love how Ki started off as a timid girl who depended on others for her mental health issues. She questions others decisions for her and wants to be her own person. The thing about this book is that you think it’s going one way when it takes a turn you didn’t expect. Ki starts to become an independent woman in a world she doesn’t know. I can’t wait to see her grow. Definitely a must read!
This is easily one of my favorite reads of 2020! Sam has a talent for creating new worlds to play in and explore. The world here is full of scandalous and beautiful things, and the small twist makes it seem slightly more hedonistic. When Kira finally finds herself thrust into a spotlight she never wanted, she reacts to the news better than anyone could rightfully expect. But the changes to her life have brought one truly magically thing to it… Her backbone is stronger than ever. This first in the series is part self-discovery and part metamorphosis or origin. You somewhat get the feeling that Kira is finally a butterfly emerging from a cocoon she’s been trapped in that didn’t fit properly. At the same time, it’s part bacchanalian carnival. Prepare for the wild and weird. Things are going to be crazy. I can’t even begin to guess where we’re headed next, but I know it’s going to be worth the ride with Sam at the wheel.
I loved the beginning of this book. The writing was lyrical and melodic, with descriptions that wrapped around the words and created imagery as seductive as the text. Honestly, it was everything that I could want in a Fae novel…. but something switched around the half way point. The writing itself didn’t change, but the pacing did, and the events moving forward felt discordant and jarring.
Frankly, I was disappointed. The lead up was phenomenal, but the other side of that mountain shook me loose, and I feel the loss. I wanted to love this book, and maybe you will. My issues may not be your’s.

~For now? MMF… but that is going to change.
Kira is a very sad little mouse. She has no self esteem, suffers from debilitating headaches, has the stereotypical, richer, prettier best friend and a set of parents that do not understand her nor support her while suffocating her with their constant ‘care’.
Finally getting the big break she truly deserves – Jen (the best friend) gets her a job as the photographer for her favourite band. But things are not as they seem. These boys are a little too much and all the people around them are a little too interested in Kira. And then things change. Kira was this magical creature all along and now she has this whole new world that she needs to learn to cope with along with all these really hot if incredibly assholish (yes it is a word – read the book and you will understand how much of a word it is) men that are all demanding her attention.
Throw in a shapeshifting cat, a really hot under the collar sentinel and a crazy granny and you have a story that is to die for.
I have been a fan of Sam Hall since I started reading the Pack Heat series and this book has only increased my love of her work. She is an absolute genius.
Kira starts off as this really frumpy character and you cannot help but feel sorry for her – and then fall really in love with her when she comes into herself. Then you have the men (and boys) that are fighting for her affections and attentions. The stylist, The shape shifter, The sentinel – and to start off with – The guitarist
I really loved this and cannot wait to fall into the next book, and the one thereafter. And luckily for us number 4 will be coming out on January 9!
Awesome enticing story with an unusual addition of the rock band part. The FMC has a health issue that is compelling and unique. I’m totally on the hook for this series. Can’t wait for the next one.
Sam Hall does it again! She always has a way to instantly pull me into her books. I absolutely love the incorporation of photography in this story and feel that she did an amazing job detailing the thought process and means of escape that taking photos sometimes gives the photographer. In this story it is more mentally but other times it takes more of a literal approach as Kira begins to become more open and bold with the camera in her hand. Photographing the Changelings is slowly dragging Kira out of her shell and it is great to see this shy, introverted FMC begin to blossom as a character. It is clear to the reader that there is much more to Kira than we are being told. It will be interesting to see how important Kira actually is and what all she is capable of. We see snippets here and there once she first shows signs of her transition, but I’m waiting for the real whammy moment!
I’m really looking forward to this series and I’m glad that Kira has a couple of solid guys on her side, ones that will support her and stay by her side as she learns about the changes she is experiencing and the new world she is being introduced to. She’s going to really need them as I’m pretty positive that the Changelings are going to put her on a massive rollercoaster ride. I can’t wait to see what happens and see the point where each of the guys breaks.
