Nine months ago, Sara Adams awoke with no memory. The man holding her hand told her she’s a member of The Light, a tight-knit religious group led by the terrifying and charismatic Father Gabriel. As a woman in the community of The Light, her duty is to be unquestionably obedient and to submit to the will of her husband. But as Sara’s memory starts to return and she remembers her past, she sees … she sees that everything she’s been told is a lie. The Light is an insidious and dangerous organization, and its corrupting influence reaches well beyond the confines of the remote campus where Sara is being held.
With everything at stake, Sara struggles to sort out her true memories from her indoctrination. The desire to escape consumes her, but who can she trust? And which other followers of The Light were forced into this life, brainwashed to believe they belonged? The more she remembers, the more it becomes clear that Jacob, the man who calls himself her husband, is keeping shattering secrets of his own.
But Sara cannot flee alone, leaving innocents behind. She must fight to extinguish The Light.

WOW!!!! AMAZING!!!! That is truly my first reaction to this book/series. This is definitely a MUST READ SERIES and one that will make my Best of 2016 List.
As with Into the Light….I won’t be able to talk about the storyline of Away From the Dark at all. This book was filled with a lot of information and twist and turns that I don’t want to spoil it for anybody.
Away From the Dark takes off right where Into the Light ended. She actually backtracks a little and fills in some more missing information and then brings us back to the last page of book 1. Like I said this book had so much going on, you will not be able to put it down once you start. I was literally on the edge of my seat for the whole book. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how things were going to turn out, but I have to say I was extremely happy with how this story ended and how everything worked out.
Like I said with the first book, the writing and creative thought that went into this story was fantastic. It truly blew me out of the water!!! This series and story is unlike anything I have ever read before. The pace and flow of this story was spot on. I loved that this book is written in multiple POV’s….it was great knowing what all the characters were thinking. I will say that this book had a little more of the romance aspect to the story, but in no way is that the focus of this story. This is truly a suspenseful read and you should know that going in. I will say I was happy that this book didn’t get to overly graphic in certain spots….there are some areas the author could’ve taken it further and to me would’ve made this a book that is uncomfortable to read. Luckily that wasn’t the case in this series.
So as I said after reading the first book, I’ll say it again here…. RUN don’t walk to get this book. This is a series you won’t want to miss!!! MUST READ OF 2016!!!
What a great conclusion to this duet. The Light is a freaky, scary, mind altering cult that survives with members who are in the light and members who are in the shadows—in the dark. The shadows are everywhere. Could be the person you are currently sitting next to. Jacob and Sara are in the light…they are living it. Although, is this where they want to be? Like the other members who are living in the light…
Sara and Jacob make the perfect couple! They seem to thrive on the twist and turns that this story encounters…Wouldn’t be a great Aleatha Romig book with out them. What a great blanket that has been woven in this story. Page turning couldn’t come quick enough…biting my nails to find out how this was all going to play out.
For 3 years, Jacob has been working on trying to uncover what all is happening in the light… Has a little love in his life jeopardized all his hard work?
Sara, the investigative reporter is always full of questions….but will the questions finally do her in?

Wow! this was a truly amazing read! A wonderful conclusion to this series….but is it a conclusion? I want more and there is definitely room to give us more. Love Stella/Sara and Jacoby/Jacob. The mystery and intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not stop reading. A truly amazing piece of work!!!!!
Aleatha Romig has done it again this two-part series is a roller coaster that you will want to ride (read) again & again. She is by far one of the best Indies writers to date. Since being introduced to her books, no matter what she writes I preorder with one click knowing she is going to deliver one hellva a story.
Well…I can’t…uhhh…oh…well…OMG!! I mean, I’m having trouble putting this review down on paper. This book is beyond a 5-star read for me. I wish I could give it 10 stars! I do not like spoilers, so let me just say, anyone who loves to read books that are suspenseful and full of intrigue, twists, turns, love, hate and emotions all over the map, grab this series and devour it! Aleatha Romig never disappoints. She is a masterful storyteller who knows exactly how to cast her net and then reel it in, taking her readers to the very edge of their emotions and then restoring them to some normalcy in the end. Truth be told, I adored Book 2 more than I adored Book 1, and I sure LOVED Book 1! Book 2 had it all for me. While Book 1 cast the net, Book 2 reeled it in in a very BIG way, twisting and tying up all the loose ends. This book flowed with action and emotion. I had to remind myself to breathe at times, and more than once I was so overcome, I had to close my Kindle and walk away for awhile. This was NOT a bad thing! I absolutely LOVE a book that can draw me in and play with my emotions like that. If you like books like that…run, don’t walk, and snap this Series up! If you haven’t read an Aleatha Romig book yet, you should give her a try! I feel certain you’d enjoy her books! I’ve been Aleatha’d, have you? I received this book in a random draw. This is my honest review.
After reading this book it is safe to say I have been well and truly Aleatha’d yet again. Every. Single. Time! This author can have you screaming at her characters several times over and this book was no exception.
As the story starts to unwind we find ourselves championing Sara and Jacob as they set out to expose The Light for what it really is… A cover for criminal activity. The intensity is increased tenfold in this part as Sara’s memory recovers and she starts to remember her life in the dark. She also finds out Jacob’s story and together they make a formidable team as they try to remain in the characters of their cult persona’s. Loved all the characters, even the secondary characters, even tho they were evil, books with love to hate characters that drag feelings of anger out of you are the best. This author really does write dark brilliantly.
So many twists and turns, this book gave me whiplash! As one secret was revealed it created several more questions. As for the ending… No freakin’ way! Where is part three?! There needs to be a part three!! To be left hanging when you know there is another part coming is one thing but to be left hanging when there is no other part is just tortious!
An absolute epic read!
I was left reeling after reading Into the Light. I had no idea where Aleatha was going to take me for the conclusion of this story. I guess that is the genius of Aleatha though. One can never know what to expect from her in every one of her books.
I didn’t see much of this story coming. It had me cringing, my jaw wide open and me wanting to close my eyes. I am in awe of Aleatha’s ability to wow me with every word she writes. She went to places I could not have foreseen in this one.
This story, with it’s unique plot and twists and turns, this is definitely another series that everyone should read. It has all of the Aleatha-esque we have come to love and salivate over, plus the most unique story-line that will keep you on your toes from start to finish.
“I’ve loved you since the first time I saw you, and now, the more I learn about you, the more I love.”
I had been impatiently waiting for this book to pop up on my kindle, ever since I finished Into the Light. Even though a couple of my questions were answered in the previous book, I still had many that were a still mystery to me. The author doesn’t hold back any punches and we start off right were we ended in Into the Light. Just like with the previous book I had no idea what to expect, which I really enjoy in my books. I want to keep on guessing and be surprised when certain things happen.
My love for Jacob grew further in this book. He was so protective of Sara but allowed her to find herself after she started getting her memories back. He believed in her and only wanted what was best for her. I really enjoyed seeing Sara grow into a strong woman. Her old personality and character was integrating with her new one. Internally she was struggling with many things, but I was happy that she found her inner strength to deal with them. We also get a better view of how evil and dangerous The Light is. I was intrigued by what was going on and all the new discoveries.
This was a strong sequel to Into the Light, however the ending was a bit rushed in my opinion. The book also had somewhat of an open-ending, so who knows there might be another book in this series. I really hope there is, because I believe that there is still more to tell. Especially the epilogue left me wanting more. I am intrigued and I want more on The Light and the characters. Again a very vague review but I just don’t want to spoil it for you! Read this series if you love a good mysterious suspenseful romance story.
Wow.
I am blown away by this book. I should stop thinking that Aleatha can’t top her last book. She does it every time and proves me wrong.
When we start we are right where Into The Light leaves off. That moment at the end of the book that left me gasping. I was left in one of the biggest book funks after that book. I enjoy cliff hangers and that one left me on the biggest one ever. The feeling of “OMG what’s going to happen”, that rush is what makes reading fun. The anticipation and the waiting never gets old.
This book was so much more then I expected. There was stuff going on in plain sight while I was reading these books that I never caught onto till Aleatha revealed it. I love that she can do that. That stuff is epic and adds so much to the story.
When I say I was on the edge of my seat reading this book, I mean it. The pace of the book was on point. The action just kept coming. The ending was intense. The places she left things was not what I was expecting. It’s good but just surprised me. There is a little bit that makes me think there could be another one coming. I would be happy if it was left here but also I would be thrilled if there was another book.
This series is amazing and I recommend everyone read it. I absolutely loved it and these books are going down as my favorites of the year.
This has been one of my anticipated releases of 2016. The book picks up right where we left off from Into The Light. A lot of questions got answered but my head was spinning. I have no idea where/how Romig gets these ideas. The way she told this story was amazing!! It had me on the edge of my seat. Every time I thought I had something figured out there would be a plot twist. I had no idea who to trust while reading. Romig knows how to write one heck of a suspense story. Everything just flowed and I couldn’t put this book down once I started! This was the perfect conclusion to this series or was it…….
Hi, my name is Vivian and I have been Aleath’d….again.

…
What did I just read?!!? I finished this book a couple days ago and I have mentally not been able to process and translate my thoughts into typed words. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll fully be able to explain to you in the review how I LOVED this book. For me, this duet has been by far the most intensely suspenseful and mysterious books I’ve read to date. One of the most powerfully captivating reads the 2016! I was completely spellbound to EVERY SINGLE PAGE from beginning to end. I even remember after reading chapter one in INTO THE LIGHT (The Light #1), I messaged my co-blogger friend and told her she HAS to pick up this book and read with me. AND SHE DID! We would constantly message back and forth things like, “OH.EM.GEE…did you get to chapter so and so and did you read what happened on so and so chapter?!?!” It was a constant adrenaline rush! At the end of each chapter, the reader is left with a mini cliffhanger that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to not read the next chapter and then the next and the next. This duet puts the phrase “Just one more chapter” to shame. *LOL*.
***SPOILER FREE***
This is book 2 in this duet and it is the final book. It essentially starts right where book one INTO THE LIGHT, left us, but with some time overlap. AWAY FROM THE DARK was all about Sara’s memories returning after living 9 months without any previous memories before her waking up a clinic with no recollection of her life before then. Now, she is living in a constant fog of uncertainty where she is plagued by visions and thoughts that she does not understand. She is questioning (which is against the rules) everything. “I questioned the validity of each recalled image. Were these memories, or were they thoughts that fleetingly appeared real? Without warning doubt would creep in. What could I believe? Was I recalling my life or was it my imagination?” –Sara. With each onslaught of resurfaced memories came an unnerving sense of elation, shock, fear, and anger. Sara’s now stable life was appearing to be shattering before her eyes. She found these new images to be “infuriating, unsettling, and tiring” at times because she didn’t know what to believe. Then one day, the “mental dam” breaks and she knows the truth. The images in her mind are indeed her memories and that means for 9 months she has been lied to. She’s been lied to by her so called friends. Her so called husband. Now, what is she going to do about it? Can she trust her husband, the man she loves? She knows there is a slim chance to get away from The Light because in the 9 months that she’s lived there, it’s been apparent that no one leaves The Light and lives to tell about it. But Sara is a survivor, she’s stronger than anyone knows and with her newly uncovered memories, that puts her at an advantage. She is determined more than ever to find a way to get away from The Light. But can she save her husband and others like her, in the process?
I do not want to give much more details in regards to Jacob’s character (and any other characters) because of fear of spoilers, but just know that this book was about Jacob and Sara’s fight to survive The Light. “It’s literally you and me against The Light.” –Jacob.
“Sara loves Jacob, and Jacob loves Sara.”
All of Aleatha’s carefully constructed details of this story fall in to place perfectly and make for one wonderfully suspenseful ride. She is quite a mastermind of twists and turns! Aleatha Romig’s ability to blend mystery, suspense and romance into one package is phenomenal. The constant impending sense of doom was ever present in AWAY FROM THE DARK. There were SEVERAL times throughout this final book (and book 1 INTO THE LIGHT) that I could literally feel my heart beating out of my chest and I swear I could feel it skip a beat. I was completely enamored by the writing style and plot. The entire book was tangible. The characters internal struggles, the external challenges, the mental breakdown. I FELT IT ALL! This duet was seriously like NOTHING I’ve read before.
This is a duet and it did have an epilogue, but Aleatha Romig did leave us readers with a sense of “’hmm’…could there be more?” I follow her fan page on Facebook, and according to her, at this time, that is the end *tears* and there is no plan to write more *tears*, BUT never say “never”. The rights for these books (and any future books) are in the hands of the publisher and I PRAY that there is at least 1 more book to completely finish this story off because that ending left me raw, gutted and craving for more! I do want to say, by no means did Aleatha Romig leave us readers hanging and make us feel like Jacob and Sara’s story was incomplete, it’s just that she left us with this “dangling carrot”, so to speak, teasing us with possibilities of more to come. And I do need more!
10+ Stars
Would love to see a movie made from this suspenseful-thriller series!
This conclusion to The Light series was so damn captivating. I couldn’t stop reading and now that it’s over, I so so want more ;)..

A fantastic culmination to the complex webbed story of The Light Cult comes to end in this fabulous sequel. It’s so refreshing that she focuses more on a solid foundation of story and not mindless sex every two pages and clichéd tatted, alpha bikers or billionaires. The Plot is solid concrete on which stands the story of varied characters.
Father Gabriel being the Omniscient Godlike mythical , invincible Cult Leader, who has nefarious businesses and dangerous fetishes. I’m so surprised that in this day and age people are brainwashed to believe so strongly in The Cult. It’s like lost sheep are herded to a pen and they achieve their ” sense of belonging” , so they immediately submit to authority to justify their existence.
Strange ! But true.
Jacob and Sarah are pawns, so are Elijah, Abraham and Raquel and Mindy. They are just brainwashed rooks and pawns , moved around robotically by Father Gabriel on his chessboard of Power, Money and Religion
I can’t wait for you all to read this amazing story.
Truly I’m Aleatha’d once again !
Suspense, thrills and heart pounding anticipation is what’s packed into this conclusion of The Light duet. As is the norm with Ms. Romig’s works there are twists and turns at almost every corner. I can’t wait for everybody to read it because I want their reactions to the Epilogue and what it could mean!!! Just when you think you’ve got answers and closure Ms. Romig has more surprises for us.
Book 2 in this duet was amazing with again twist and turns, suspense, love. Had it all. Was a great duet.
