Ravak, a young hunter of the Winter Wolf Clan, becomes entangled in a quest to stop Graxxen, an undead wizard from a past age bent on enslaving the Land of Shaarn into his army of the dead.Graxxen is a dark sorcerer whose evil ambitions drive him to turn himself into a lich, an undead mage of unimaginable malevolent power. He enslaves all the goblins of the Dark Fang horde, using their great … great numbers to overwhelm and exterminate the people of Shaarn, conscripting their fallen into his army of ghouls.
Banished from his clan, Ravak finds himself alone for the first time, forced to live off the savage lands of his ancestors. Heading south to civilization seeking a new beginning, he encounters two travelers on a journey to find ancient artifacts that may just be the key to stopping the evil lich.
With the aid of his cadre of newfound companions, Ravak and company struggle to overcome Graxxen’s twisted plot. Will the future be dark or will a day of hope yet dawn for the Land of Shaarn?

I have been reading science fiction and fantasy for many years………and this looks to be one of the best……..looking forward to the rest of the story!
This book was simply fantastic, looking forward to the next one. Kept my otherwise low attention span firmly locked for days. Read read read!!!!
Just finished reading this one and as someone who doesn’t read a lot of fantasy novels I was unsure when I dived in but I really enjoyed it. The world building was well done and the description in the book was really really good. The characters well thought out and it has everything……dragons…who doesnt love dragons…. Goblins… Magic… Sorcery…. Fighting… Dangerous situations….. But also plenty of light hearted moments to make you smile. In particular I enjoyed a certain grumpy dwarf for anyone who is a fantasy fan it is a must read and really well written and for those who don’t read a lot of it like myself well go on…. Read it and like me you will be pleasantly surprised at how much you enjoy it.
This is a fantastic read! The world the author has created is easily envisioned and the journey/quest the characters are on will take you for a ride like no other. The characters are three dimensional and their personality characteristics make them such interesting individuals. The storyline has been cleverly crafted and will weave its spell on you within the first few pages. I suggest strongly to cancel all adulting when you start this book. Bring on book 2!
I was given an advanced release copy of this book for review purposes. The following is my honest opinion:
This story grabbed me from the first page. I wanted to know more. I wanted to travel alongside Ravak as he set out to end the evils of Graxxen, and through Dennison’s writing, I felt like I was there.
Every minor plot along the way made sense, was developed and concluded thoroughly to lead to the next event. I loved the character developments, the descriptions, and the action.
I am looking forward to reading the entire series.
This is my first (I believe) fantasy story that is purely and richly created to transport me into a new world filled with richly developed characters and a plot that was a joy to read.
There are a lot of details in this story and that makes the story come to life. I loved the descriptions, the actions, the character’s passions and the fight scenes weren’t too shabby (LOL, they were really great). I’ve never read a quest story before but I found myself traveling along and try to help out the character(s) along their way. The different aspects of this story, both small and large, really made it come to life (I know I have said that a few times, but it is worth mentioning again and again). The darkness in this story is balanced with the light, the magic is well balanced with the “human” aspect and I really liked the fantasy of it all.
While, I am probably not the targeted audience for this story, I did really enjoy getting lost between these pages. I think others will enjoy this as well, especially if they are fantasy lovers! I had the pleasure of reading this ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
