★★★ “CINDERELLA MEETS TWILIGHT” – AMAZON REVIEW ★★★
After her mother’s death, Taylor Hale goes to live with her father on the remote island of Dawnhaven. She’s dreading it, but she has a plan: she’ll keep her head down, survive senior year, and ignore that her wicked stepmother treats her like trash.
Then she meets wealthy summer resident James Champlain, and everything changes.
James is … trash.
Then she meets wealthy summer resident James Champlain, and everything changes.
James is tall and strapping, with a square jaw. In addition to his looks, he’s charming, funny, and kind. Taylor is increasingly drawn to him, but they’re from two different worlds. She was on food stamps, he lives off a trust fund. Then there are the rumors: the locals say he’s running some sort of cult at his estate.
Taylor doesn’t believe it, but James is definitely mysterious–as is Dawnhaven itself. There’s something dark in the island woods, something dangerous. When Taylor encounters it, she learns that not only is James not what he appears…nothing is.
★★★This is the first book of a new series, perfect for fans of TWILIGHT and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. Best for older teens: contains adult language and themes, and there are some scary parts.★★★

I enjoyed reading this book. It has great characters. Spoiler-Taylor makes friends and because of the love she has for her best friend she asks her boyfriend to do something he never wanted to do. I will have to read the next book to find out if their relationship survives.
I absolutely loved this book.It was so unpredictable I never knew what came next,it kept me on my toes but also wanting to know more.I can tell you when I started reading it I did not want to stop and I can’t wait to start reading the next book in the series
I would have given it five stars except I am SO burnt out on the whole trend of stuffing gays into every possible nook and cranny.
If it is a traditional teen romance, just write that. If you want to write f/f stuff, just do it in a separate story please!
A friend to all is a friend to none.
I love a good YA paranormal romance and that is exactly what Awakening was! This was compelling and sweet, as well as mysterious, heartbreaking and romantic. The writing was engaging and Taylor felt so real as a person, I found myself having trouble putting the book down so I ended up bingeing this story in a weekend. And that is not even mentioning James, who was just about the most perfect romantic interest ever (swoon level, guys!). Awakening had a completely unique supernatural world I enjoyed finding out about, developed main and side characters, as well as a plot that kept me guessing with all the twists and turns. As a side note, the romance stayed PG with just some kissing, but the content in the story did get mature dealing with drug abuse, verbal abuse as well as some violence.
In case you can’t tell, I really loved this book! My one complaint is that the ending did not really solve any of my questions, instead it just amplified my concern for the well being of Taylor and James’ relationship and I have to wait for another book to come out to get more! This is the perfect read for fans of Twilight or the Hush Hush series since it was full of heartbreak, love and danger- as well as star-crossed lovers.
Really enjoyed many of her other books but I just couldn’t get into this one. I wasn’t very invested in the characters , and felt it was a bit wish washy.
This is one of the best books I have read. I would literally die to love in this world!!
Taylor has had a rough life and eventually thing start to look better when she meets
James. This book will take you on a wild ride.
i love to read vampire diary’s and watch it on Netflix and twilight and legices, charmed
im a non fictional reader but how come u cant read it on this app i dont wanna buy it
One of the best books that i have ever read!
I should start with saying that I’m really thankful I’ve got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve wanted to read another vampire book for so long now, but I never found the right one. All kind of repeated themselves or they were complicated for some reason to me.
When I first saw this book what caught my eye was the cover. It’s beautiful and simple, isn’t it? Then of course I needed to know what it is about…so second for me was the about. That’s how I knew I’m going to love the book.
When I started reading this book I didn’t really know what to expect or to say more precisely what direction the book is going to take. I know it kind of reminded me of Twilight, but that’s kind of every book I read, because Twilight was the first vampire book I’ve ever read, so. But it took a very nice detour from it.
For me this book was relaxing. It sound kind of weird. However I really really liked it! The author set a nice and slow tempo with the book, but not the kind where one scene takes 20 pages, but rather when it comes to the way of writing. I understood everything, which is sometimes rare in YA (Young Adult) books. It was exactly what I needed at the moment. Something I’m going to love but I won’t have to think too much about it, just basically ride the tide.
If you love to read books about vampires this is a book for you. If you don’t really want to think too much about what is happening or if you understand it properly, but want to rather live the story…THIS IS A BOOK FOR YOU!
I’d love to tell you more about the book, but I just don’t want to spoil it. But I’m when you meet James, please let me know. And…well, he’s taken. BY ME! I don’t care about Taylor, even tho I love her, haha.
It was a nice teen romance read.
I love Leigh Walker books, the story lines, characters, and suspense. I would love it even more if the stories continued a little further before cutting off.
I can see why the author says this is her favorite book she’s written yet! Although I love everything Leigh Walker writes. Her stories flow so well that it’s impossible to put the book down until you’ve finished it.
I love the setting of this one, as it is an island off the coast of Maine where the temperatures are always cool, even in the middle of summer. The ocean and beaches and forests and mountains make me wish I was there! Although I would NOT want to be anywhere near Becky. Becky is one of the worst human beings on the planet, and she taught her daughter to be the same way. I know Taylor loves her dad and seems to forgive him for not being more active in her life up to this point, but I think he is just as culpable for Amelia’s behavior since he hasn’t tried hard enough to curb it, despite Becky working against him. Taylor has to survive the summer and senior year trapped in a house with her “step-monster”, half-sister, and father, and I don’t know how she’s going to do it. I think she needs to take a stand and tell her dad the truth about how awful Becky and Amelia are to her.
But despite how awful her current home life is, Taylor makes some awesome friends and is drawn to James Champlain, who is just as drawn to her! I absolutely love Leigh Walker’s characters. Not only are her main characters awesome, but so are the best friends and other side characters! Walker writes the best best friends!!
I can’t say much without giving plot points away, but suffice it to say if you love paranormal/supernatural beings, a human who gets caught up in their world and falls in love, and an overprotective love interest (because really, who doesn’t love that), then you need to check this out! It’s such a fun book, and I am anxiously awaiting the second one!
Such a unique take on a vampire story. This book had it all, the characters you love and the characters you love to hate. Becky and Amelia needed more than a slap in the face. I loved James and Taylor and their crew. Although I’m worried about their relationship. The last chapter was so intriguing for me and that epilogue…. Can’t wait for book 2.
I enjoyed the book. The plot was slow, and I struggled to get through some parts. However! I’m glad I stuck it out and read through the end. The ending tied everything up in a nice bow. The characters were well developed and thought through. The mystery surrounding one of the characters was a nice touch I didn’t see coming!
