I hit on her first. Realized she was my best friend Finn’s little sister second. And got a bloody nose third — compliments of Finn after he watched me nearly score with the new underclassman. After all I did have a reputation on campus, word on the street was that a girl could orgasm within one minute just watching me eat Lucky Charms. You can’t make this stuff up — even though it was at least … — even though it was at least four minutes and included outside circumstances. Ahem, I digress.
Point is, not only did I earn the attention of the worst sort of girl for me — my best friend’s only sibling — but now she’s out to seduce me.
Me! One of the most famous Pleasure Ponies of them all!
I can’t shower — she follows me to the bathroom. Literally.
I can’t sleep — Lucky me, she lives in the same dorm.
And I can’t focus on anything except for her taunting eyes every single time something goes her way.
I want her, but I don’t want her to know I want her, and I definitely don’t want to die before graduation, which is looking more and more likely considering we can’t keep our hands off each other.
Something’s gotta give, and I have an inkling I should probably start writing my eulogy now because that something is probably going to be me.

Slater didn’t have it easy in school. He was bullied constantly then one day all of that changed. Now he’s an adult in college that’s trying to start a company with his best friends. Tatum gets transferred to her brother’s school after something happening at her old school. When Slater and Tantum meet there’s a definite attraction, will either act on it? What will Tatum’s brother think?
Overall Rating – .5
I loved Avoiding Temptation. This is Slaters book and boy are we in for a treat.
The action starts right away when Slater is attracted to a girl at the bar and kisses her, only to be pulled away from her by his best friend and roommate to discover that it’s his little sister.
Things were just heating up and he wanted more, but he drew a line knowing his best friend wouldn’t be happy, especially since he was warned off.
I loved Tatum’s character. She was fun, flirty and knew she wanted Slater and her brother wasn’t going to stand in her way.
Slater is torn by wanting Tatum and wanting to do the right thing by his friend, she doesn’t make it easy for him and is always coming onto him with her sexy ways.
I loved this read. It was fun and flirty with great chemistry between the MC’s. There was good pace, little angst and overall a very enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to Finn’s book next!

This was a fun, fast paced read. I felt that Tatum and Slater had great chemistry although the romance side of things could have been a little more in depth for me. That said, I did enjoy this book and devoured it in one sitting. The banter between the ‘bros’ and between Tatum and Slater was great and had me smiling and chuckling throughout. Bring on Finn’s book next!
Haha! When you feel it, you feel it. No matter how many times you try to pretend it isn’t there. Well, when it is, it is and there is nothing you can do to kill it.
Once again Rachel Van Dyken gives us those dudes from “Pleasure Ponies”! And once again they do not disappoint!
Finn’s sister comes into play and gives Slater a run for his money.
Humorous, passionate, hot and funny! This is a must-read!

It was super easy to like these Wingmen–and I’m talking all the way back to when it was just Ian and Lex–but once you get to know the nitty-gritty about each of them, falling for them is simply a given. Slater was just…le sigh. I know he wasn’t exactly the sort of guy who may have been boyfriend material in the first two books, but then Tatum hadn’t come along to become such a fixture in his life till now. Speaking of Tatum, ah, but how I loved her determination to move forward with her life. Both she and and Slater carry with them painful lessons they’ve learned over the past few years. It’s important to remember that these two are barely into adulthood yet they’ve experienced things that have shaped them–things that’ve brought them pain but have also pushed them onward.
One of my favorite things about Rachel Van Dyken is her ability to take a well-loved trope and make it her own, giving it her own creative spin so that it doesn’t feel like every other book out there. The falling-for-your-best-friend’s-sibling trope is a go-to for many romance readers, and she more than does it justice here. There’s the expected secrecy but because of all the other circumstances surrounding Slater and Tatum, Van Dyken has penned a beautiful story that brings on the wit as much as it does the angst. Just like those before it, Avoiding Temptation can be read as a standalone, but I’m highly recommending the Bro Code series as a whole. This gets five-plus stars.
This series is absolutely amazing and while I had no doubt that Leo would forever be my number one, Slater has just blown him out of the water! Avoiding Temptation is a sexy, fun, best friend’s sister romance that was hard to put down! Slater and Tatum have undeniable chemistry but Slater will not cross the line once he knows who Tatum is!
This story was full of hilarious moments, chemistry that jumps from the pages and a tad bit of drama just to keep it spicey 😉 I did not want this book to end but I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
This book was so good. It started off with a bang and just kept on going.
Slater is one of the ‘Pleasure Ponies’ who help and comfort ladies who needs support or whatever. One Rule no dating or relationship with any of the ladies who needs their services. So when his friend Finn asks him to stay away from his sister he thought no problem. Well that didn’t last long at all.
The chemistry between Slater and Tatum was awesome. They had awesome back and forth banter that had me lol sometimes. And the sexual chemistry oh boy that was off the charts. This is definitely and awesome sweet, funny at times and amazing romance story. I look forward to reading more in this series from this author.
Avoiding Temptation is the 3rd book in the Bro Code Series. We first met Slater in Co-Ed and I was intrigued by his character and his story when I read it a year ago and was excited to get into his book and boy does it start off with a bang! The moment Slater meets Tatum the sexual chemistry is immediate and intense! Slater soon finds out Tatum is Finn’s sister so she is immediately forbidden and he has to avoid temptation at all costs otherwise risk loosing a friendship with his best friend.
What I love most about this book is the witty one liners, the snarky comments and playful banter. I lost count how many times I gasped and laughed out loud. But on top of the humor Rachel Van Dyken is incredibly talented at intertwining a beautiful story of friendship and love with the perfect amount of humor.
This is a quick fast past read and I couldn’t get enough. I loved the return of a much loved character from a previous series.
These books are phenomenal and I cannot wait for Finn’s book up next.
5 STARS
Note: I received an ARC from the author via Social Butterfly PR in exchange of an honest review.
Slater and Tatum’s forbidden brother’s best friend storyline is a flirty, laugh out loud quick read. Loved the cameo and a great addition to this series.
Another super read in the Bro Code series with a best friend’s sister romance. I love the story, and the way Rachel touches on the serious topic of suicide was well handled and added an aspect to the story that just helped draw me in to the story more and understand why Slater is the way he is. Another highly recommended to read story by Rachel Van Dyken.
Tatum just transferred to UW when she moved in with her brother Finn and his best friend Slater—but not before getting caught by Finn kissing Slater and Finn warning Slater not to mess around with his sister!
This one is lighter and funnier than Seducing Mrs. Robinson. Slater and Tatum’s antics had me laughing out loud! The chemistry between them was sizzling hot and their banter was wickedly delicious. Can’t wait to read Finn’s story!
Avoiding Temptation is a brother’s best friend contemporary romantic comedy written in dual first-person POV. It’s a low-angst standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
Slater and Tatum will have you laughing out loud, have your eyes bugging out while you almost choke from the things that they do to get together. Throw Grandma Nadine into the mix and you know you’ll be giggling for sure!
The chemistry between Slater and Tatum is hot, hot, hot!! (A little bit more of the eyes bugging out lol) Will Finn understand about Slater and Tatum or will he blow a gasket? He takes his big brother duties very seriously and even though Slater is his best friend, will he be good enough for his baby sister?
Avoiding Temptation was a sweet, short read by Rachel Van Dyken. While definitely not my favorite by her, the book is worth a read, nonetheless. This is the 3rd installment in the Pleasure Ponies series, featuring Tatum and Slater.
Tatum is Finn’s (one of the other pleasure ponies) younger sister who Slater hasn’t seen in years. Their first time reconnecting is Slater slamming Tatum up against a wall followed by a HAWT make out session. Bring the steam!! Then, in the next moment, Slater is pulled away and punched by Finn.
The story proceeds from there and takes us on a sweet and loving journey with plenty of laughs thrown in throughout. I would have loved to have delved deeper into Slater’s feelings for Tatum but that’s okay! This book is told in dual POV. Overall, it was a really cute romcom book!
Perfect little story to fill travel time during the holidays:) Avoiding Temptation has everything in a short & sweet package. Friendship, loyalty, love, angst, PRANKS. You will not be disappointed in Slater & Tatum’s journey.
Oh Slater, Slater, Slater. Falling for your best friend’s little sister was not the smartest thing you’ve ever done… but it sure made delicious reading for me!
Once again, Rachel wove a tale that was laugh out loud funny, while still dealing with some serious topics. I love how she does this! Plus, it makes the book and characters so much more relatable. When we only show the world an image of our lives seen through rose-colored glasses, we are boring. It is when we show the cracks in our lives that we become interesting. And the same can be said for our book friends.
Avoiding Temptation was a quick, fun, sexy read that will undoubtedly brighten your day!
Each of the books in the Bro Code series stands alone. You can easily pick up and read any of these and have no problem following along.
Avoiding Temptation is the third book in the Bro Code series by the ever-talented, Rachel Van Dyken. Each book can be read as standalone but I highly recommend reading the whole series since it’s all kids of sexy, sweet, and hilarious. The Pleasure Ponies were down to two. Two down and two to go…
Slater and Finn. Best friends. Roommates. The two Pleasure Ponies on campus. Two seniors who were not allowed to date. Client or not. It was a Wingmen rule. One they never had an issue with until she walked in. Tatum. A stranger to Slater and a little sister to Finn. In Slater’s defense he didn’t know that the girl he was making out with against the wall was Finn’s sister. She also happened to be their new dorm mate. And a temptation to Slater. Finn told him she was off-limits.
Tatum wanted him before she even met him. Slater had no idea what he has unleashed without knowing it. She knew she should leave him alone. He was after-all her brother’s best friend but she wasn’t a little girl anymore. She knew what and who she wanted and it was Slater. But will it be worth it if she ruined a friendship?
I can’t really say more than that but I will say that I didn’t want the book to end! I have been falling for Slater with each book and now I am completely in love with the man. He is so fucking funny. Blunt. Sweet. Hot as fuck. And I could say the exact same for Tatum except I would add daring as hell. I loved their banter. Chemistry. And crazy antics. I just love them so hard. And Finn…oh, Finn. You are too much. I can’t wait his story!
Three down. One to go!
Quotes:
“You a clinger?” I asked.
One shoulder lifted and fell in a casual shrug. “Not unless I’m being picked up and slammed against the nearest wall.” She took a step forward. “No.”
“I’ll be the best friend you never knew you always wanted—needed—” he took another step “—craved.”
“Yeah okay, Romeo.” I put my hand up. “Know your audience.”
“That smile scares me.” I grabbed the juice and sniffed the top.
She rolled her eyes.“Good grief, if I was going to hurt you, I wouldn’t just kill you dead. I’d torture you first. I watch Dateline. I’m not an amateur.”
I have not laughed this hard while reading a book in quite some time. To be honest, the last book that had me laughing this loud was probably another Rachel Van Dyken book.
Avoiding Temptation by Rachel Van Dyken is just what I needed. It’s light and funny and while there are moments of seriousness, it’s a fun romantic comedy complete with silly jokes, and (OMG!) everyone’s favorite (*insert eye roll*) family member.
The sweet scenes between Tatum and Slater were gold and their texts were fun to watch unfold. But don’t forget about the Pleasure Ponies or even Lex and Ian. The scenes between the guys were epic, including all the confrontations between Finn and Slater.
So much is going on in this little book and the fact that the Titus family is involved should just be one more reason you WANT to read this one.
Tatum and Slater both have an undeniable connection but because Of Tatum’s brother bring Slater’s best friend they try to deny it and be responsible about it. But when there is chemistry like that and there is flirting that can’t help but happen it changes the game. There might be a little bit of Aunt Nadine in this book which if you’ve read a few of Rachel Van Dyken’s other series’ you’ll recognize her and love every second of the book with her in it!
Avoiding Temptation is a hilarious romcom that will have you laughing at every other sentence! I just loved Slater not only is he swoon worthy he’s athletic and so funny! Tatum is Finn’s little sister looking to get a fresh start at a new school. Tatum and Slater will have you in stitches one minute and high fiving as these two navigate there feelings for eachother. Slater is my favourite Pleasure Pony so far and I can’t wait till Finn’s book comes out!
