I hit on her first. Realized she was my best friend Finn’s little sister second. And got a bloody nose third — compliments of Finn after he watched me nearly score with the new underclassman. After all I did have a reputation on campus, word on the street was that a girl could orgasm within one minute just watching me eat Lucky Charms. You can’t make this stuff up — even though it was at least … — even though it was at least four minutes and included outside circumstances. Ahem, I digress.
Point is, not only did I earn the attention of the worst sort of girl for me — my best friend’s only sibling — but now she’s out to seduce me.
Me! One of the most famous Pleasure Ponies of them all!
I can’t shower — she follows me to the bathroom. Literally.
I can’t sleep — Lucky me, she lives in the same dorm.
And I can’t focus on anything except for her taunting eyes every single time something goes her way.
I want her, but I don’t want her to know I want her, and I definitely don’t want to die before graduation, which is looking more and more likely considering we can’t keep our hands off each other.
Something’s gotta give, and I have an inkling I should probably start writing my eulogy now because that something is probably going to be me.

I loved Slater and Tatum’s story, this is the third book on the Bro Code Series, they can all be read as a are all standalone but I suggest you read them all, they are so good. When Finn declares his sister off-limits of course Slater knows Tatum and their story is one you want to find out. It’s a novella, so it’s a perfect read for anytime, it’s light and fun, full of banter, you will be laughing out loud and has sweet scenes in between.
OMG!!! – Yea for Slaters book. I have loved all the bro code books previously and as usual the book was just as awesome! I loved Tatum and Slater’s story. I adored the cameos (Aunt Nadine). Rachel Van Dyken is a freakin genius and you HAVE to read this book!!
Avoiding Temptation by Rachel Van Dyken is book Three in A Bro Code standalone Series. This is the story of Slater and Tatum. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one but you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Slater makes a fatal mistake when he hits on Tatum who turns out to be his best friend Finn’s sister. Of course he puts the breaks on doing anything more with her but Tatum has other thoughts. Tatum has just moved in she knows what she wants which of course is Slater. So the chase begins with Slater trying to do the right thing by Tatum and his friend but Tatum isn’t having it. Tatum is out to seduce Slater one hot encounter at a time.
Loved it.
I felt like I could have had more slater. I absolutely died … at the plot twist and wasn’t expecting how it turned out (no spoiler but near the end of the book) I love aunt Nadine (RIP grandma Nadine) I don’t want this series to end
Another amazing book by Rachel Van Dyken! I loved Slater and Tatum, they were so entertaining! I can’t wait to see what comes next!
I don’t know why I started this book so late. I knew I was going to read it all in one sitting and I did. It’s so so good. These books, this SERIES, I needed these right now. Sometimes you get in a funk, and you need a book (books) that remind you why you do it. Why you pay to run a blog, why you commit your personal time to reading, reviewing, and sharing the book love. This series reminded of that when I needed it.
Slater & Tatum have the type of relationship I love. It’s easy, it just fits, and so perfect. The banter, the laughter, and the chemistry – these two are perfect.
Where Seducing Mrs. Robinson hit me in the feels, this one made me smile and laugh so hard. I just can’t say enough how much you should read these books. You need to check them out.
Avoiding Temptation is book #3 in the Bro Code series but can be read as a standalone.
And just like the two previous books it’s a quick read with romantic, funny and hot moments. It’s a great brother’s best friend story. Slater and Tatum couldn’t keep their hands off each other. And this danger of being caught kept me on the edge of my seat. That was the factor that prevents me from putting the book down until I read the whole story. I can’t wait to read the next book in series.
Can I just say how much I love that we get three! Yes, I said THREE Pleasure Ponies in a matter of weeks! Merry Christmas to me!
This is Slater’s book.
Slater mad a boo-boo and couldn’t resist his bestfriend’s little sister. While I love these two together, I did love that Finn punched him also.
Slater and Tatum are freaking hilarious! The things they come up with to keep their relationship hidden from Finn was so funny. I was laughing out loud.
I loved seeing Nadine again.
What Finn did when he found out was awesome.
Next up is Finn and I can’t wait to watch him fall.
I absolutely love these guys!
Avoiding Temptation by Rachel Van Dyken was so much fun to read!! Once again Rachel proves why she’s my go to author! She writes these engaging, funny and lovable characters that could be your best friend.
Slater and Tatum had this immediate connection and the chemistry between them jumped off the pages!! I loved how Rachel wrote this story, the way they met and all the drama that followed!
Slater unknowingly fell for his best friend, Finn’s little sister. Finn is the overprotective big brother and watches Tatum like a hawk! What ensues is one comical mishap after another; as Slater tries to keep the bro code, Tatum is determined to derail every attempt at just being friends!!
This book was funny, a bit emotional in places but as always an amazingly, brilliant and fun read!! Praise for Rachel Van Dyken and her amazing storytelling skills
Oh how I love a good book with push and shove and the chase. This is probably one of my all-time favorites of Rachel Van Dyken books. I absolutely love the way these two interact, and the way she pushes his buttons. You will definitely find yourself laughing more than just a little. This is another one of those reads you will not want to put down. I definitely 100% recommend this book and the entire series it will not disappoint! I cannot sing its praises enuf!
Laughter, family and love…all wrapped up to make one hell of a book. Rachel Van Dyken has the ability to make you laugh out loud one second and then send tears flowing the next her books have that excellence.
Slater has avoiding getting close to anyone female one – he is forbidden since he work’s for Wingmen, Inc at the college campus and two – after he lost his sister…
But Finn’s sister Tatum transfers in and she is TROUBLE in a little package!
So excellent!
4.5 Tempting Stars!
This book is part of the Bro Code series, but can be read as standalone. The story is funny, perfectly paced, and beautifully well-written. I love the chemistry, and connection between Slater and Tatum, it was undeniable.
Avoiding Temptation is a fast, one-sitting fantastic read that you’re going to love and enjoy from start to end. Author Van Dyken delivers an amazing story, fill with humor, steam, friendship, passion, laughter, love, and compelling characters. Can’t wait to read Finn’s story!!
I received an ARC from the author via PR in exchange for my honest opinion.
Rachel Van Dyken had me avoiding everything in real life as I read this hilarious, sexy story. Slater is hot and so sweet…why was there no Wingman Inc in my life in college. I have the hugest crush on Slater. Tatum is adorable and I love her take charge attitude after what she’s been through in the past. Her relationship with her brother is awesome and I love how protective and loving he is toward her. You need to read this book for the texts, the shower, the couch, Aunt Nadine and the penguin alone. Avoiding Temptation is a laugh out loud, steamy read that had me swooning so hard I didn’t want the story to end!!!!!
Tracey, Life Reads With Friends
I loved Slater’s story. I was laughing so much during this book. I am loving this series so much. Tatum and Slater have great chemistry and the things they make up to keep Finn from finding out are hilarious. I can’t wait for Finn’s book.
Giddy up! Another Pleasure Pony down and one to go. A sweet, sexy best friend’s sister romance with the Wingman Slater on the hot seat when Finn’s little sister shows up at the same college as the Pleasure Ponies. Tatum aka Delilah is terrific as Finn’s little sister and Slater’s downfall when she starts out hot with a lip lock that melts Slater and infuriates Finn. Slater tries to keep to the bro code but Tatum is too irresistible to ignore and she has a secret. Tatum and Slater know each other better than he thinks which adds another layer of “don’t go there” even if her being a Wingmen client is through the internet app. When he realizes his attraction is deeper because he was her Wingman and he knows her past he’s ready to go for it even if Finn kills him. Ahh, he chooses love over friendship, but he wants both. The question is what will Finn do when he finds out. This is a quick, easy read that’s entertaining with a sexy little romance, hilarious antics, funny banter and those hot Wingmen hunks. Can’t wait for Finn’s story and the next group of Pleasure Ponies. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Definitely not my favorite book by Rachel Van Dyken but by no means a bad read, this quick and sexy story features a feisty, troublemaking college student and her brother’s best friend. At novella length, this flies by and has plenty of great banter. There’s some angst given the forbidden nature of the relationship, but the overall feel of the story is light and fun. It faltered for me because of the focus on sex, starting with a kiss before names are exchanged and continuing with a complete WTF moment in a co-ed shower. It’s a lot of fun but I couldn’t always take the relationship seriously.
The story follows Tatum, a transfer student who just started attending the same college as her protective big brother. Within minutes of meeting her brother’s best friend, Slater, they exchange a steamy kiss that blurs the boundaries of their relationship. Though Slater knows Tatum’s brother would kill him if he pursued his sister, the sexual tension between them is so strong that it cannot be ignored. As Slater wars with his feelings, he begins to get to know Tatum better and discovers that it’s more than lust between them.
I’m definitely used to a much slower burn from Van Dyken, so while the writing itself is as strong as always, it felt like the physical side of things dominated the story. If you’re okay with that, you’ll probably take no issues with the story – it’s got everything else that we’ve come to know and love about Van Dyken’s writing. Without a doubt, the story grew on me as it went along, but it was difficult to overcome the first impression. My favorite part was the humor involving Tatum’s brother, Finn. There are some truly funny moments, and I am absolutely looking forward to his book. I received an ARC via Social Butterfly PR and am voluntarily leaving a review of this funny read.
I LOVE THIS WORLD!!!
This.Frikkin.Story. It is everything you want to read in an emotional romantic comedy. It wasn’t slap-stick funny, but man did it have depth of humor. It was real! It wasn’t silly. It was relatable! It was just plain fun!
The chemistry between Slater and Tatum was beyond sparking, sexually and verbal! They sparred just as good between the sheets than out of them.
Another best couple of hours I’ve spent reading in a while story! I can’t wait to devour more!
Avoiding Temptation is the third book in this interconnected series but can be read as standalone. This is the story of Slater, one of the Pleasure Ponies, and Tatum, one of his bestfriend’s sister.
Omg! Can I just say that Slater is the total package and that he is mine? I just couldn’t help but fall for his charms and innate sensitivity. I’m really loving the witty banter between him and Tatum. It’s so cute that you will eventually root for them to be a couple. And oh, that scene of Finn and Slater in the bedroom? I have never laughed that hard with tears in my eyes in awhile. I freaking loved it! Their bromance is the friendship goals!
Overall, a very entertaining story that will hook you right off the first page. A definite must read and couldn’t wait for the next book!
Oh my another Pleasure Pony has fallen!
I loved the wit, banter and chemistry that RVD brought to this story. As always I was captivated from beginning to end and read this in one evening whilst hubby watched the darts.
This one is Slater’s story, he is one of the remaining two pleasure ponies and best friends with Finn. When he meets a girl and finally feels a connection, to want more, he never realised it was Finn’s baby sister and shes off limits.
OMG the chemistry and sexual tension between Finn and Tatum was off the charts hot I’m pretty sure there was some steam coming from my kindle. I was thoroughly entertained with the banter and push/pull, one-liners that went on between them.
Can I just say it was lovely seeing a cameo from Nadine, oh how I missed that crazy lady.
Avoiding Temptation is book three in Rachel Van Dyken’s Bro Code series. All the books can be read as standalone books, but as a long-time fan of this author, I highly recommend reading all of them. As in ALL of her books. Not just this series! But that’s just me.
Moving on…
Slater is that guy. The guy that worked hard and reinvented himself. And his hard work has paid off. As one of the Pleasure Ponies, he’s forever fighting off the female population. Now if he can just finish out college without his best friend fighting him, life will be golden. But he’s got it bad for said BFF’s little sis, Tatum. And Tatum has a big secret that could ruin her relationship with slater. Can he avoid the temptation…the overwhelming temptation that Tatum is, or will he give in despite putting his friendship on the line?
From chapter one, the chemistry between Slater and Tatum goes from zero to one hundred in about one paragraph and it doesn’t slow down. Ever. There is light-hearted humor peppered throughout but also a lot of emotional up and down for everyone. And plenty of sexy times! Honestly, books two, three, and four in the Bro Code series are standalones but I feel like they would be great as one book with three parts.
NICUnurse’s Rating: If you need a quick read with fun and funny characters to take you away for a little while during the stressful holiday season, you can count on the Bro Code series (any one of them) to fit that bill perfectly. While I adore all of the Pleasure Ponies and have a soft spot for Slater, I can’t wait to see where Rachel takes Finn!!
I give Avoiding Temptation by Rachel Van Dyken 4 out of 5 stars!
