This is a fast paced story with believable, multi-layered characters who are dealing with their own personal issues, their love interests, and family relationships, all while trying to catch a serial killer who has his own plans for the heroine. It all makes for a riveting read and I’ll definitely be reading more in this series
A suspenseful pager-turner of a book, with a great characters, a touch of romance, and a plot that will keep you engrossed until the end.
Special Agent Rick Sanchez has been tracking a serial killer for the last year. He reunites with FBI Agent Kendra Dean in Colorado after she is attacked by the killer. Kendra was hiking with her K9 Baxter, when she found the latest victim. She was attacked and left for dead, her K9 was shot, but he didn’t kill her. Why? She and Baxter both survived, but will she be the next target for this madman? Rick and Kendra share an attraction, but he is still dealing with a tragic loss from his past. Can he dare to love again? A very intense mystery as they hunt for the killer before he claims another victim. A brand new author for me and I am now hooked on this K9 series. The author has created some great characters who are easy to relate to. I have to say I was so sad for Baxter Kendra’s dog. Kendra & her dog were hiking in the mountains when they found a dead body. She was knocked out & her dog hurt. Afterwards the investigation by the FBI will lead you on a wide ride. It will definitely keep you turning pages. If you haven’t started this series then you should. You won’t be sorry.
Avenging Adam (FBI-K9 #1), my second read from author Jodi Burnett, an author I’d wanted to read for some time yet never got around to, until reading Mile High Mayhem (FBI-K9, #4) earlier today. December seemed to be my month for new authors and January looks to continue the trend. So good I went right out and got this book. Another excellent read, enjoyable and captivating in its detail and development. I’m voluntarily reviewing it because every good books need reviews. I look forward to ore from this author and in this series, in fact, I’m going out and get Body Count (FBI-K9 #2) right now. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Fantastic start to a new series by Jodi Burnett. I have not read her previous books, but I can tell you I will be reading them. Just what I need, another new author, sigh. This thriller had a creepy psycho, I mean creepy! I love any book with dogs and this starts a series with them, yeah! Besides the creepy psycho we have the hot and cold between Kendra and Sanchez, but Kendra is a pretty straight shooter and lays it all out, yes for Kendra. She has her own issues to contend with, her extra sensitivity on being female in a male dominated job. Sanchez was a tad jerky but when it went into why, I felt for him. And Baxter, her K9, rocked my world. The author also threw in a moment or two of chuckles and smiles, which I appreciated. I am thrilled I took a chance on this series and if you like thrillers I recommend this author.
This first book in FBI-K9 series by Jodi Burnett was definitely a dark and very intense suspense-filled thriller as the FBI attempts to track down a serial killer before he can take down one of their own. It is also multiple episodes of simmering love interests as the couples attempt to come to grips with their feelings towards each other. The story definitely holds the readers’ attention as it swiftly moves along to its pulse-pounding conclusion. I will definitely add other books in this series to my TBR. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
This begins with a nice hike in the mountains, a twisted ankle and finding a dead body. Kendra Dean is an FBI agent and Baxter is her K-9 partner. He is a sniffer dog assigned to find drugs, firearms, explosives and missing people. Baxter finds a dead woman on their hike in the mountains. Kendra gets hit in the head with a branch and Baxter is shot trying to protect her. FBI Special Agent Rick Sanchez has been hunting this serial killer for over a year. He is transferred to the Denver headquarters from Chicago. Why did the killer leave Kendra alive and will she be in danger of him coming after her? This has suspense, action, danger, insecurities and so much more. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
