From the bestselling author of The Convenient Groom and A December Bride (now beloved Hallmark Original movies) comes the third and final novel in the Bluebell Inn series! When a mysterious man turns up at Grace’s family-run inn, it’s instant attraction. But she’s already got a lot on her plate: running the Bluebell Inn, getting Blue Ridge Outfitters off the ground, and coping with a childhood … childhood event she’d thought was long past.
A gunshot wound has resurrected the past for secret service agent Wyatt Jennings, and a mandatory leave of absence lands him in Bluebell, North Carolina. There he must try and come to grips with the crisis that altered his life forever.
Grace needs experience for her new outfitters business, so when Wyatt needs a mountain guide, she’s more than happy to step up to the plate. As their journey progresses, Grace soon has an elusive Wyatt opening up, and Wyatt is unwittingly drawn to Grace’s fresh outlook and sense of humor.
There’s no doubt the two have formed a special bond, but will Wyatt’s secrets bring Grace’s world crashing down? Or will those secrets end up healing them both?

I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in Denise Hunter’s Bluebell Inn series and highly recommend them all; but it’s official — Autumn Skies is my favorite of the three novels. I devoured this book in less than six hours, it’s that unputdownable! I love, love, love Wyatt and Grace. They have the best chemistry. Lightning strikes when they first meet and their attraction for one another is intense. I also enjoyed how well they work together to bring out the very best in each other. It makes them two of the most endearing characters I’ve read. What I love the most about this story is its discussion on purpose, specifically that we are each made by God on purpose for a reason. None of us are here accidentally. It’s a beautiful reminder in a time when things feel so purposeless.
Grace has been my favorite Bennett sibling since book 1. I’ve enjoyed her spunk and witty banter, and I’ve appreciated her inner strength and courage to follow her own path in life even when that path seems impossible or unrealistic to others. In this final novel, I loved getting to know Grace better, to learn her backstory and understand what makes her tick. I have to admit that her story broke my heart a little. It hurts me when people forget that their lives matter and that they’ve all been created for great purpose. My favorite moment in this story is when Wyatt — awesome, gorgeous, wise Wyatt — reminds Grace that God has big plans for her and that she is exactly where she needs to be to do God’s will. This one moment filled me with such hope and it soothed my weary soul. I, too, needed this reminder for such a time as this!
I am going to miss my time with the characters of Bluebell Inn, but I am leaving this series so grateful for experiencing such a well-written, engaging, hope-filled set of stories. If you are a fan of excellent contemporary romances, Autumn Skies, and the subsequent earlier novels, are well worth your time!
I received a review copy of this novel in eBook form from the publisher, Thomas Nelson, via NetGalley. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Autumn Skies by Denise Hunter is an amazing end to Bluebell Inn series. I honestly put off reading this book for a while because I did not want the series to end! Grace and Wyatt are the main characters in this story and they find each other in the midst of very real pain and past trauma. I think the author did a perfect job making the trauma real and consequential without making the reader go through too much trauma while reading. This book really brought all the stories together as the reader is updated on the lives of the characters from the previous two books. This is a most satisfying conclusion to the entire series and I highly recommend them all. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
This is book three in the series about the Bennett siblings who when their parents die, decide to fulfill their parents’ dream: turning their historic home into an inn. Book 1 is Molly’s story, Book 2 is Levi’s story and Book 3 belongs to Grace, the baby of the family. Grace is the only sibling who plans to stay in Bluebell, NC, after the inn is sold. She has started an outfitters business and has big plans for its future. She knows that she’ll miss her siblings when they leave NC but she loves the area and wants to stay. One day when she is working the front desk at the inn, a handsome man stops to see if they have room. She’s intrigued by him and wonders what secrets he is keeping. He tells her that he is looking for a place in the mountains that he remembers spending time at when he was growing up and Grace agrees to be his guide for his search. The immediate sparks that hit when they first meet quickly turns into a much closer relationship but they both know that he will go back to his job as a Secret Service agent and neither wants a long distance relationship. The more time they spend together, the deeper their feelings for each other grow. Will they be able to put aside their plans for their lives and get their happily ever after ending?
I loved this series but must admit that Autumn Skies was my favorite and Grace was my favorite character. The book has a bit of mystery, beautiful scenery, sibling who argue but love each other, and a fantastic romance with a great guy — what more can you ask for?
Another great series from Denise Hunter. Bluebell Inn sits on a beautiful lake with a quaint little town around it. The Bennett siblings have restored their old family home into a lovely B&B. Grace is the youngest of the three siblings, and this is her story. I loved Grace, she was adventurous and engaging. Wyatt was a guest at the Inn, he was working through some past experiences and very swoon worthy. The story was full of great twists and turns, plenty of sweet budding romance scenes and experiences that built your faith and love in God. The series can be read in any order, but I highly recommend reading them in the order written.
I received this book from the Publisher and Netgalley and this is my honest review.
Denise’s books always make me feel like I’m on a vacation in North Carolina with her characters. This is Molly Bennett and Wyatt Jennings’ story. Wyatt, a worn out Secret Service agent, thank comes to Bluebell to find closure from a tragic event during his childhood. He meets 21 year old Grace, who is suffering panic attacks from an event in her childhood. In the course of the novel, they find a connection to each other from their sharedpast and a shared trust in God’s sovereignty and ultimately peace and love,
Autumn Skies is the third book in Denise Hunter’s Bluebell Inn Romance series. This contemporary romance can stand alone, though the characters from the previous two books make significant appearances. In Autumn Skies, Grace and Wyatt work together to find a location from Wyatt’s past only to discover the past holds more secrets than they realized.
Grace is the youngest Bennett and her siblings want to sell the inn they own. Grace has her own business, so she’s determined to use her shares of the sale to buy her own building and embark as a full fledged small business owner. Wyatt is a Secret Service Agent who is recovering from a gunshot wound and the psychological baggage it unearthed.
I was rooting for the characters from the start, especially with Grace’s sunny disposition. The hiking parts were especially fun to read. I found the story majored more on the physical attraction than I generally care for in a book, but the emotional depth was there, too, which I especially loved. I think that made the ending more satisfying.
If you’re looking for a contemporary romance set in a small town with a fallish setting, try Autumn Skies.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC guidelines.
I needed an audiobook to listen to and this popped up in Libby, so I figured I’d listen–I’ve enjoyed some of Hunter’s other books, so I figured I’d enjoy this one.
The book did not disappoint. If you’re a fan of Hunter’s wounded/healing characters, their involved family members, and their willingness to walk away from each other for the greater good, you’ll enjoy this book. Grace is relatable and Wyatt is slightly swoon-worthy. Plus, they have a great first kiss.
Classic Hunter with a healthy dose of God’s love.
Rated PG for suggested violence.
Wyatt Jennings comes to the Bluebell Inn on a mysterious mission. Grace Bennett is intrigued and she offers to serve as his guide on his hikes. Grace is suffering from some sort of past trauma that you will not fully understand until later in the book. This book offers everything I enjoy in a book – mystery, romance and intrigue with the plus that it is clean. Denise Hunter knows how to entertain a reader. I could even picture the setting and I felt drawn into the book.
Autumn Skies by Denise Hunter
Autumn Skies is a sigh-worthy, wonderful romantic adventure. Denise Hunter writes a fantastic book and this is one of my favorites. I loved the characters, the beautiful setting and the plot. The romantic scenes were beautifully written. The inspirational tone warmed my heart. I loved learning about the occupations of the characters, too. This book is the 4th book in the Blue Bell Inn series, but can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend you read all of the books in this series (and her other books, too, if you haven’t). They are enjoyable and engrossing.
I really enjoy reading books by Denise Hunter. They are well-written, engaging and hard to put down. This one was no exception. I started reading it and I was immediately surprised and thought that I had started reading something by someone else. She started out with a character that is a secret service agent, which was completely unexpected and not her normal character. I appreciate that an author can still surprise you, and is creative enough to write about characters in a way that you wouldn’t associate as typical for them.
This is the third book of the Bluebell Inn Romance series, and while they do all go together, it is not necessary to have read the first two before this one (although I would recommend it). This could be read as a stand-alone and still be an enjoyable story.
I love that this series is set in North Carolina and follows a set of siblings. The first two stories are about Molly and Luke, and this one is about Grace.
I loved reading Grace’s story and how it eventually intertwined with Wyatt’s. There are so many different elements in this story; romance, suspense, humor and the overarching theme of the grace of God. I read this book in an afternoon. I have not devoured a book that quickly in an extremely long time.
I highly recommend this book (and series) to anyone who loves reading clean, inspirational fiction. Thank you to Nelson Publishing and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book. All opinions are entirely my own.
All I know is one minute I was starting chapter one, and the next minute I was done reading the book. It was such an enjoyable and easy read with characters I loved spending time with, I guess I couldn’t stop. So I didn’t. Hopefully somebody fed my children yesterday. And hopefully somebody will feed them again today, because next on my list is Hunter’s Bookshop by the Sea, and I have a feeling the same thing is going to happen.
Beautiful and exciting ending to this trilogy. this time, I got to know the love story of little sister Grace. As in previous books, she only caught my attention because she complained about the excess protection Levi gives her and because she does not want to go to college, I was not so anxious to know her story.
Now the family inn is well established and the siblings know that it is time to sell, especially since each one has a different goal in life. Grace wants to live alone and invest in her business.
Wyatt is going through a delicate moment in his life and needs to put everything on track to be able to achieve his longed-for promotion at work.
The beginning of the book and the mysterious way in which the writer presents Wyatt’s story and gives glimpses of Grace’s trauma as well, made me very curious to know what had happened and how it would all end.
I really like the sweet way Denise Hunter writes and brings couples closer in her books. This one has a stronger and more touching drama and little by little we feel the pain of each character and it was beautiful to follow their journey of healing and acceptance. The final chapters were very tense and touching, made me sigh a lot.
I know this is the last book but I wanted a book for Ethan, Wyatt’s best friend.
4/5 stars
I highly recommend this series and this book especially.
It is well-written, as are all of Denise’s books.
I enjoyed Grace and Wyatt’s connection and story from the beginning.
The small-town, close-knit family working together to run an Inn, near a lake, is story I like to read.
Plus, there is little mystery that in the end bonds the two main characters together forever and it proves that they were meant to meet and help each other heal.
The third and final book of the Bluebell Inn series was phenomenal. I think I say this with each now book from Denise Hunter, but this is my absolute favorite by her.
What a way to end a series. I highly recommend you read the series in order, so you get the most enjoyment possible from Autumn Skies. Here, we find the Bennett siblings ready to see the inn that they’ve run since their parents passed away. Grace, the youngest of the three, is trying to find her place in the world as her siblings each look to move on to different ventures.
Wyatt, a secret service agent, has returned to his childhood summer home to recover from an injury and prepare for the next step in his career. He is surprised to find it’s now an inn, and ends up staying there as he searches for clues and answers from his past. Grace offers to guide him on several hikes, and the past begins to surface for her as well, in an interesting twist of events.
I’m sad to see this series come to an end, but will definitely revisit Bluebell Inn again many times in the future as I re-read the series.
I am thankful to the publisher for allowing me to review this book as a member of Hunter’s launch team. This review is my honest opinion.
Oh, the Bennett siblings…. they’re truly delightful and I’m sad that this is the end of our journey with them. But what a journey it’s been! This book can be read as a stand-alone but reading the series in order will totally enhance the experience at the Bluebell Inn.
I loved that Levi and Molly get married during this story and that we get to see more of Molly and Adam as a married couple. Grace is sweetness, fun playfulness, and loyal tenderness in an outdoors-loving package who is running her own outfitters shop. Wyatt is a Secret Service Agent whose emotional wounds bring him back to Bluebell so that he can dig through his painful past and find healing. Wyatt is a different type of hero from Adam and Levi and I really enjoyed his stoic protective vibe along with his deep thoughtfulness and steadfast love. Their romance is heart-stirring and their path to healing is heart-breaking but so gratifying at the end.
No one writes contemporary romance like Denise Hunter!
In this contemporary romance series, Denise Hunter has created the quaint Bluebell Inn owned by three siblings. In this book, the focus is on the youngest of the three. Surprises are in store for this young woman when a mysterious man checks in for a little rest and recuperation. As the story unfolds and their lives begin to intersect, a romance develops despite many obstacles. While dealing with their past and present, lessons were learned. I found this book to be an entertaining read. Autumn Skies can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. I won a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.
4 1/2 stars. Loved Wyatt and Grace equally. I often find myself more engaged by one character and the other but in this case both were just great. This was a great storyline — and and relatable on so many levels. I loved the setting, particularly since Ms. Hunter indicated that it was actually set in a replica of Lake Lure, North Carolina where I have vacationed several times and loved. I haven’t yet read Molly’s story or Levi’s but I definitely intend to go back and do so. The audiobook was also extremely well done. I will be recommending this one to my daughters.
I liked it a lot
The Bluebell Inn series centres on the three siblings who co-own the Bluebell Inn, on the shore of Bluebell Lake in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The first two novels paired the other sister and brother off with a world-famous author and a Hollywood actress.
Autumn Skies focuses on the youngest sibling, Grace, who has established a business hiring out bicycles and canoes to tourists. Wyatt Jennings is a Secret Service agent who has been told to take time off for psychological reasons after being shot in the line of duty. He chooses to visit Bluebell Lake, because he wants to find the place where his mother died when he was a boy. They meet when Wyatt checks in to the Bluebell Inn—his childhood vacation home until his mother’s death.
There were two things that didn’t grab me in the beginning. Grace’s instant attraction to Wyatt, and their age gap. I’m not a fan of instalust (shouldn’t true love be built on a meeting of minds and faith?). I’m also not a fan of big age gaps, and the beginning gave the impression Wyatt was in his thirties, compared to Grace’s mere twenty years. However, that was later clarified: she is twenty-one, and he’s only twenty-six.
That set my mind at ease, and I was able to enjoy the book. As romance novels go, this one went fairly smoothly. That made for an enjoyable and relaxing read. Both Grace and Wyatt have external issues from their past they had to get over, and there was an unexpected twist near the end which gave the plot extra power. And the final chapter has that all-important aww factor we want from a romance novel 🙂
The story ends with an epilogue which rounds out the trilogy—so while this is a standalone story, Denise Hunter fans will want to read the trilogy in order.
Thanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for provding a free ebook for review.
This is the third and final installment of the Bluebell series. Overall, the series has been a little flat for me, and this one has been the same. I didn’t think Grace and Wyatt were very likable and the chemistry wasn’t there. I haven’t struggled with survivor’s guilt, so I may be way off base here, but I thought that was blown out of proportion a little bit. Grace thought Wyatt was going to hate her because she was able to get away from a bad man? That just didn’t make sense to me and I found myself rolling my eyes at that point. I did finish it and it had a happy ending which is always a plus in my book!
