Lacy has bought the old White Horse Saloon in White Horse Creek, Colorado, but she hasn’t found the financing to have the old saloon and hotel brought up to code and restored to its former glory. Her friend Sky, a recent transplant from New York, suggests that she finance the restoration if Lucy can get an estimate that is within her financial capabilities. Lucy calls on a local builder, Andrew, who was a jock when she was a cheerleader in high school. He was quite cocky back then and Lucy doesn’t like him. Andrew is late for their first meeting and only half listens to what Lucy is saying about her plans for the renovation. This really angers Lucy, who believes he hasn’t changed from the boy in high school. She finally tells them that he isn’t getting the job, but Andrew’s mind is already thinking about all that needs to be done and how he would improve it. After several meetings back and forth, Andrew presents Lucy with an estimate and incorporates all of Lucy’s vision into the plans. She meets with Sky, and Sky gives her the go-ahead to hire Andrew and go with the higher estimate that includes some very exclusive additions. Meanwhile, Sky has an attorney draw up a partnership agreement between her and Lucy, and Lucy is elated that her dreams seem to finally becoming to fruition.
While Lucy and Andrew work together, they begin to grow on each other until sparks begin to fly. It seems that Lucy’s finally getting her dream of finding a man that she loves and loves her in return……until someone decides that they won’t allow the saloon to be reopened, no matter what he has to do to prevent it. Danger lurks everywhere and harm comes to the H and h. The Sheriff doesn’t believe he has enough leads to find the suspect, so Lucy and friends have to take matters into their own hands to uncover the perpetrator of the town’s recent crimes.
I really enjoyed Lacy and Andrew’s romance. I love this series and it gets better with each book. I love getting dual POV’s. I feel more connected with each character. I also loved how Milan threw in the drama/mystery aspect in this book. I also thoroughly enjoyed the previous characters popping in.
Milan gives up well-rounded characters with the small-town warmth and throws in some mystery to keep us guessing what will happen next. I’m looking forward to seeing what Milan Watson has for us in the next book!
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. A story about Lacy and Andrew and the project they work on together and run into a problem that their friends help solve. Family and friends in this small town are everything and have your back because they all know your business. A great series and all standalone reads.
I really enjoyed reading this book! She wants to restore the old saloon building and He is just the carpenter to do it! It didn’t matter that they didn’t like each other in school. I recommend this book to romance lovers everywhere!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a wonderful quick read. I have thoroughly enjoyed the books of this series and this one was no different. I had to consume this in one setting. I adored Lacy’s idea to renovate the old saloon and inn. She purchased it with her inheritance from her nana’s death. That left little to renovate with but Sky (from Twilights in Colorado) suggested partnering up. The local carpenter/contractor who is the best in 3 counties is Andrew Bennett. Lacy isn’t to thrilled about him. She knew him in high school when he was a jock and a jerk who was best friends with two other jerks. Andrew has changed. He has matured into a hard worker. He wants to renovate the inn to bring it back to it’s former glory and that would be the highlight of his career.
I adored having this story written in my favorite dual POV format. For me, getting a glimpse into the characters’ thoughts really help me to connect and identify with them. I also loved having the other 4 prior couples making multiple appearances here. I just hope that we see more of this series. There are several more characters that need their HEA.
I highly recommend this book to anyone (start at the beginning not because you have to but because they are great books). There is an extremely small scene that occurs in the bedroom but it is just a few glossed over paragraphs. Nothing graphic just alluded to.
Book five in the Colorado Crazy series a well written short story that held my interest until the end. This is Lacy Parker the new owner of the run down White Horse Inn and Saloon and contractor Andrew Bennett’s story. There is suspense, drama, danger, and romance. I enjoyed reading. I received an Arc of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Story line is great and I loved the characters. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Unexpected twists and turns had me reading this book in one sitting. Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Milan Watson, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book about the romance between former high school rivals, Lacy and Andrew. Lacy buys a building that needs restoring and Andrew is the best building contractor in their small town, White Horse Creek, Colorado. After the renovation begins, someone tries to burn the building down with Lacy in the building. She is rescued by Andrew who later is kidnapped and almost killed before the perpetrator is caught. Tis book met all my expectations of a suspensefull romance, and I highly recommend this book. Even though this book is part of a series, it is a standalone with no cliffhanger and has a HEA ending.

This is a well written Western romance with strong characters in Lacy and Andrew. It’s an enemies to friends type romance with sparks flying that both keep fighting. It’s a small town second chance romance with a bit of mystery, drama and secrets. The story moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I really enjoyed this romantic tale about Lacy Parker. It was fun to watch her bring her dream to life along with the sexy contractor, Andrew Bennett. I really liked how they started off disliking each other and trying to deny the sparks and chemistry between them. It made the story very interesting.
This book also had some mystery to it that made me quickly turn the pages to find out what would happen next. My favorite line in the book was “I’ve waited for you my whole life, just never knew it was you I was waiting for.” What a romantic line from a very romantic character in the story. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series set in White Horse Creek, Colorado. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Another winner in White Horse Creek. Love this series. Keeping up with the other characters in town. The book is well written and Andrew and Lacy are likable characters. Well worth reading this one and the whole series.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Lacy plans to bring the White Horse Inn and Saloon back to it’s glory days but in order to do so she needs a contractor. Shame the best guy in town was such a jerk at school but when she meets him again she is surprised at the instant attraction between them. Things appear to be going well until the Inn is targeted and suddenly lives are at stake. I enjoyed this story which had a suspense element – my favourite in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Intriguing mystery, secrets, and a second chance at a glorious romance for Lacy and Andrew. I just love the way Milan Watson tells a story. She draws you right in and keeps you interested all the way through. I highly recommend Autumn in Colorado.
I really enjoyed this story. Lacy buys the White Horse Inn which has been vacant for many years. Andrew and Lacy went to school together many years ago, now he does restorations. At first Lacy and Andrew are at odds, both are trying to fight their chemistry. Then someone is trying to stop the Inn from being renovated and they will go to great length to hurt both Lacy and Andrew. Read the book to find out what happens. I was given an advanced copy and this is my voluntary review.
She might have been the shy, backward, cheerleader and he the arrogant prick of a jock 10 years ago, but things really do change over time. Lacy wants nothing to do with Andrew. She is too full of painful memories, but she desperately needs him. He’s the best carpenter in the whole area and Lacy just used up all her inheritance to buy a run down inn that’s badly in need of repair.
Lacy and Andrew work thru those past issues and learn to trust each other. One would think that was the story, right? Wrong! See, Lacy and Andrew may have found each other but there is someone else in the shadows doing their best to ruin everything. This shadow person will do anything to stop the inn’s restoration, even if it involves murder.
The White Horse Inn and Saloon was one of the best known watering holes in Old West. During it’s heyday, it was a booming success. Why would someone not want it to be brought back to its former glory? Had something happened that needed to remain buried? What untold secrets lie dead inside that inn?
Observations:
… Sheriff Saunders? He will bring mixed emotions to the storyline.
… Love the way past characters play a role here. This is a stand alone so the reader doesn’t need to know their storylines, but those who have read them will enjoy seeing how life goes on in White Horse Creek.
… Hmmmmm…. and Burke. Dear ol’ Burke. What’s going on with him? Guess time will tell.
… This is a short but sweet Novella type of book. The characters are well developed and don’t lie back and wait for things to happen. Nope, they dig in and set things straight.
As the other storylines in this series, I enjoyed the camaraderie and genuineness of the characters. As mentioned above, this is a standalone but it’s nice to be able to ‘keep up’ with the other people in the series.
This is a great story with great characters. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This book scores a solid 4 stars.
The characters of White Horse Creek are becoming well known acquaintances and one is looking forward to reading about them. The attraction and developing love between Lacy and Andrew is handled well and Levi’s antics provide just the little mystery and suspense that is needed to prevent the story from becoming to predictable. The idea of renovating an old saloon as a way of keeping the town’s heritage and at the same time improve the town’s economy is solid. It is a good thing that Lucy’s partner, Sky, comes from money. I am glad you got rid of the sheriff – have never liked him. Maybe his falling dead from a heart attack at the fair should have been included.
The chemistry between Lacy and Andrew was off the charts but neither wanted to admit it. They knew each other in high school but weren’t friends by any means. In fact she felt that he looked down on her. Fate brought them together when she bought an old Inn and needed an expert carpenter. Likable characters and an engaging story. Their back and forth banter was amusing. Plenty of drama as someone is trying to sabatage her business. Well-written and hard to put down. The location is beautiful Colorado and it was nice to reconnect with some characters from other books in the series.
Love building along with a renovated saloon? Who’d a thought it?!
4 and a half stars
I really enjoyed this sweet Western romance with a bit of danger and suspense set in fictional White Horse Creek, as I did the four previous short novels in Milan Watson’s Colorado series. Each volume has centered on a different couple in and near small-town White Horse Creek. One of the things I really appreciate in how this series has progressed is that additional characters are introduced just a few at a time and the story really stays focused on the main couple; Watson makes it easy to follow the new plot without being deluged by a crowd of secondary players.
Lacy and Andrew, the main couple here, come together in a big project and Lacy comes to see a different side of a fellow she avoided in high school. Their backstory is typical of small-town kids in the same age group and realistic. Their romance is sweet and low angst and a malfactor who threatens their renovation and lives lends drama and action. It was a quick, easy stand-alone read; no cliffhanger here.
I hope Watson continues the series because I have really come to like this town!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Lacy and Andrew were never friends in school but now they have a magnetic connection. This is another sweet small town story. Restoring the Saloon is a project that Lacy is throwing her heart into. What she did not expect was to also lose her heart to her contractor, Andrew. The story is easy to read and contains updates on the characters from the previous books in the series. This sets a lovely tone because you feel like you are catching up with old friends as well as making new ones.
