Lara“Is that him? The Charles Hill?”Yes, you guys. That’s exactly The Charles Hill.Single Dad. Best-Selling Author. Hot-as-Sin. And probably twice my age.He couldn’t possibly be interested in me – an ordinary small-town girl. But he makes my toes curl whenever he glances my way. We’re at work, and I know it’s wrong. But my body is telling me yes. Ok. Just one kiss. I told myself. And one forbidden … Just one kiss. I told myself.
And one forbidden kiss led to so much more…
Charles
I shouldn’t be looking at her like this.
She’s only twenty-four, and I’m way too old for her.
Everything about this is inappropriate.
The looks.
The little touches.
The way she stares at my lips when I talk.
I’m only here to hold my creative writing workshops.
But I can’t help but think about something…filthier.
I shouldn’t even think about going there.
Yet inside, I’m begging for a taste of her forbidden fruit.
I tried to fight it, but my five-year-old daughter brought her right into my place.
And I can’t resist the temptation any longer.
I have to claim her, no matter what they say.

Sometimes, moving on takes the courage of a dragonslayer! In her senior year at university, Lara was a wiser woman regarding her expectations. While working at Ramen Books, she got to meet a well known favorite author, Charles Hill while he was conducting a workshop. Charles, recently divorced from Sandy is wary of women and has trust issues. Once they met, they each needed to make the decision of if they were willing to step out of their comfort zones and explore next steps. Clarissa, Charlie’s daughter is an absolute peach! Nice story. Short but sweet. An absolutely enjoyable read. What happened to Alistair? I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.

I really liked this fast, fun and hot read. A cute plot, likable characters, sizzling chemistry, drama, emotional turmoil and a hint of the forbidden, make this older man/younger woman romance a scrumptious little treat for when you are short on time, need a mood lifter or simply are looking for a book to heat up your kindle.

This is book four in the Temptation Next Door series. Each book is it’s own but I recommend picking up each gem in the series to enjoy. Lara is a college student on her last year of an English Lit degree. She works at a book store part time that she absolutely loves called Ramen Books. One of the best parts of working here is the chance to attend authors workshops for free. Charles Hill is scheduled to come in and he is one of her favorites. Charles comes into the book store that he supposed to be putting on a workshop at looking for the owner Alistair. Instead he finds Lara who seems to instantly have his attention. They seem to hit it off but Charles has a lot of reservations about women since his ex left. A new relationship….he is not ready to take a chance. He has his ten year old daughter to focus on as well as his writing career. A little girl’s game of hide and seek reveals that Lara and Charles are closer to one another than they may have initially thought. Now how is Lara to forget that he turned her down for a drink? How is Charles going to get her out of his mind to focus on other things? Fate has more in store for these two characters, enjoy reading how it all pans out.

I love this. It’s somewhat of a short story but with so much information, you don’t miss anything. I could feel the characters’ love for books and Clarissa was just the sweetest.

Extremely cute and too simple
3.5
Everyone is cute in this story, and the plot is quite simple: a girl meets one of her favorite author who is a single father, and despite their age gap they are strongly attracted one by the other. She also discovers that they are neighbours.
The story is well written, but I found it too predictable.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
A quick read the details of which have been outlined in the blurb & by previous reviewers. I liked the story of an older man & a younger woman & this author can craft a fabulous story, probably in her sleep, always well written & magnetic. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
This is a great read.
This short story is fun, fast, sweet and steamy with great characters

This is a wonderful single dad/older man romance, it’s fast-paced and quick to read.
The storyline is interesting, sweet and steamy and highly entertaining. The characters are incredibly likable and relatable, I especially loved little Clarissa, she made me smile everytime she entered a scene. There is the perfect amount of drama that kept me interested.

Recovering from a recent divorce after fifteen years of marriage, Charles found himself attracted to young bookstore employee, Lara. It didn’t hurt that Lara was a starstruck fan of Charles’ writing. Their mutual attraction was instant, but I am so not a fan of giggling young girls no matter how sweet and smart.
Luckily, it seems like Charles was definitely a fan of giggling twenty four year old Lara who was the diametric opposite of his ex-wife in every way.
When it turned out that Charles and his sweet adorable daughter were Lara’s new neighbors, well lots of graphic sexy scenes ensued.
Kudos to the author for pulling everything together with the bit of drama with his cheating ex. I loved the way Charles/Chuck/Chucky didn’t get sucked into Sandy’s manipulative ways.

An enjoyable add to the series. This was a cute story with an older men and younger woman that heats up the pages. Some drama, a lot of chemistry and a storyline that entertained. You need to read Lara and Charles story that doesn’t disappoint.
The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

A cute fun fast read. Chuck was down to Earth, Lara was awkwardly cute, and Clarissa needed some major discipline. Much too old for a 5 yr old even one who is precocious.
Overall a good read with a HEA!

Lara Lance was in her final year at college, finding the college experience was not nearly as glamorous as she had imagined it. She was working a part-time job at a bookstore to start paying back college loans, but she did enjoy being there among the books. Today she was setting up a display case for Charles Hill’s latest book. The author was coming to Ramen Books to conduct a six-week writing workshop which Lara got to attend for free as a bookstore employee. The bell dinged and a handsome man came in carrying a large box. When he said they were for his workshop, Lara’s hero worship kicked in and was adorable, especially when she tried to shake his hand while he was still holding the awkward box! She had thought all science-fiction authors were supposed to be giant nerds, but this one was an absolute hunk! She loved his voice, his attitude, his humor, his laughter, and the wink he gave her as they briefly got to know each other! She knew he could never be interested in a small-town girl like her.
Chuck finds himself attracted from the start to the much younger Lara, who is refreshingly open and welcoming. He can relax around her, unlike his ex-wife who was shrill and distant, making him cringe at every move he made that might set her off. Now he was a single dad after Sandy’s cheating on him with his former literary agent! And yet he finds himself comparing the two women, finding them similar in certain ways. With the age difference and that vague similarity, he is not sure if he should even consider pursuing her, not even sure he is ready to date again. But Fate intervenes when a hide-and-seek game brings Chuck’s daughter, Clarissa, to Lara’s door as she tries to find a hiding spot her dad won’t know about. When Lara walks her back to her apartment and a frantic Chuck rushes out the door, they realize they are neighbors, and their proximity makes it even more difficult to ignore what they are feeling. Will they take a chance on each other?
This was such an engaging story! The story line was excellent, allowing the reader to watch the couple as they admired each other and their interest grew. The dialog was realistic and fun, pulling the reader in and letting us know the characters better. Chuck and Lara were definitely likable and really did make the perfect couple. The reader could see his struggle as he kept comparing situations with Lara and his ex-wife, then realizing they were two different people and he was being unfair. But it made things realistic, as many readers might relate to that sort of experience in our own lives as we meet new people. I loved Nicole Casey’s insights into what it was like to be an author, and it made me feel like I was seeing reflections of her own philosophy. Very enjoyable!
This is the fourth book in this series of quick short steamy reads After saying they are short that doesn’t mean you are short changed in anyway they are full of emotion and enough steam, to melt your kindle
