I have enjoyed reading the “Kitchen Witch” series from the first book in it. These two books tell the story of Amelia’s grandmother, Thelma. If you like the series, you will want to read this box set. I loved it as much as I have always loved reading every other book I’ve had the pleasure reading that was written by Morgana. Keep ‘em coming, please!!!
Two fun stories with a bit of interesting time traveling in each. The first one had the sweetest gift exchange between Thelma and her husband and then Thelma had a very interesting eating adventure on Christmas Day. The second mystery was a bit more complicated but Thelma gets lots of support from her husband and help from her friend Nama. I enjoyed reading how Thelma was able to solve the mysteries in both. Her husband and friend are great supporting characters too.
This series is set in 1936 & 1937…an era not too common in cozies. It is about the life of Thelma and her new husband, Wolff Spelled. Thelma is a witch and is asked by a friend to help find out who killed her hubby a year ago, Christmas..but they just recently found his body. Thelma decides to help her friend out and as she begins to gather clues, she notices a man in a black Ford following her around town. Who is this stranger? I really enjoy reading this for the wonderful characters and references to items they wish they had and think will never be invented in the future..ex, a small oven that could zap foods warm in minutes lol. Thelma is very creative because when she finds out who the murderer is she leaves a clue to prove it.. I actually said out loud to myself ” wow that was a pretty smart thing to do”. Lol..then the next book takes place a year later, 1937. This is a fun mystery. Thelma Spelled is walking around in her garden one morning and stumbles upon a body! She calls the police and strangely enough, detective Coleman is there within seconds! Thelma thinks its strange but lets it go because she is upset about the body. Then he asks her to come down to the station to answer more questions. She walks in and tells the desk clerk she is there to see det. Coleman. The clerk says she must be mistaken about the name. Then someone comes out and tells Thelma that it couldnt be det. Coleman because hes been dead for years. she explains why shes there and he tells her there was a murder at her address, years ago and det. Colman was on the case. Bewildered, Thelma wonders if she is losing her mind but decides to investigate the murder herself. So this is where the great storyline begins. Join Thelma and her hubby Wolff as they travel between time periods to figure out this murder mystery
Witch Christmas and A Witch in Time – two fun prequels!
We go back in time, to the 1930s, when Aunt Thelma was young. Two cases, two fun stories! I loved that these stories are in the 1930s, it gave the stories that extra bit of flair. The references about the future were great! And I loved to know more about the history of the house! Two fun, quick reads. If you love The Kitchen Witch series, then I definitely recommend reading these prequels too! Very enjoyable!
