Another sultry New Adult Romance from USA Today Bestseller Author Alexa Padgett. From the moment I see Kate Grace, I can’t wait to find out if what they say about redheads is true… Not only are her wild ringlets entrancing, she’s sweet and sassy, with slower, sexier curves than a Texas back road. Too bad she’s also country music star Camden Grace’s baby sister. Camden holds my chance at a … baby sister. Camden holds my chance at a comeback in his hands, and he doesn’t want me—or my bad attitude—anywhere near Kate.
I don’t have time for all these thoughts about Kate, anyway. I must focus on my son’s future. I failed him once, but I’ll do anything to prove how much I love him. Anything.
Even if that means giving up my dreams of a music career and another chance to kiss Kate’s soft, luscious lips. Ike comes first. I promised, and my word is my vow. I’ll never, ever break it.
Yes, even if I have to give up a chance to work with the biggest names in the music industry, and even if I have to walk away from the only woman I’ll ever love…

Austin by Morning, An Austin After Dark, Book 3 by Alexa Padgett
Kate (Katie Rose) Grace works with her sister in law at her family’s guitar shop handling her books and media platforms.
Rye Lawson is trying to finish an album, take care of his ill son, and reignite a singing career all on his own.
Kate is music legend Camden and his twin brother Carters little sister. She found out months ago that her family has lied to her about her father. Since then she has felt like an outsider in her own family which has caused her to avoid her family. When her brother calls her at work to bring a guitar to him for his next concert, she begrudgingly agrees. Rye has way too many balls in the air but with this last shot at a music career, he can’t let anything get in the way of his dream. Taking care of young son with way too many illnesses has been hard to hide from everyone and has given him the brand of difficult. When he gets a glimpse of Kate, he knows that she is way beyond off limits because of who her brother is. When she is attacked, he doesn’t question helping her. What follows is heart racing instant attraction for both. She is afraid of being used to get to her brother and he is afraid of having is sons’ medical issues posted all over the media. Can these two trusts each other enough to let the other in or will they close themselves off to a romance that could bring them both joy?
This book was so full of angsts but ended in one of my favorite endings that Alexa Padgett has written. These two made me laugh, cry THREE times!, and happy sigh. She may tear her characters apart, but she always brings them back to where they are supposed to be. This one had me wondering though, like always. These two had so many issues, Kate with not feeling worthy of her family or him, and Rye doesn’t want to feel like a charity case. Rye shows her that she is more than worthy to him because he wants to give her something that she has always wanted, her own family and he wants to be the man to give it to her. Kate makes him see that sometimes its ok to ask for help even if he thinks he can do it on his own. Sometimes the burden is less when someone else is holding it with him.
A realistic beautifully written story. Where you feel the lust and love grow between Kate and Rye. Problems are there to be solved, even if it takes time and insight into yourself. Kate has always felt like she was never good enough, Rye feels like he has always failed. This affects their relationship in such a way that they break up angrily but miss the other every minute they are away from each other. He gives up his dream of becoming a singer and songwriter to take a good job so that he has the certainty to give his son the eye surgery that Ike needs to avoid being blind in the foreseeable future. Her dream of a large family takes shape without giving birth to one.
Realistic because not every romance is all about happiness but that you always have to work on. Life has its ups and downs but the rewards are worth it; a love of life

Cam and Carter’s stories were wonderful but I think Kate and Rye’s story is so heartfelt.
Kate is dealing with her numerous feelings about her father, her mother and where she fits into the famiky. Her previous experience with men have left her feeling unlovable. While on the outside she may look wonderful, internally she feels unloved , angry and like a bag blowing in the wind. Where does she fit in?
Rye has wanted a singing career and he has been close but his outside obligations are hindering his dream. His father doesn’t support him and his son needs him. Hepis son is his world and he’d do anything for him, even give up his dreams.
These two meet and the attraction is immediate. Kate feels secure and calm when he us around. His son steals her heart, but is it enough to help her?
Rye wants her but he needs to make his son his priority, always. Maybe even at the expense if the only woman he has ever loved.
These two have obstacle after obstacle to overcome. Secrets revealed can ruin them.
You’ll hurt for them as you read the book and hope that somehow they get the HEA they deserve.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review
Austin by Morning is the third book in the Austin After Dark Series by Alexa Padgett. That being said, each book in the series is completely standalone, meaning you can read it on its own, or you can read the series if you choose to do so. I have read each of the books in the series and I would highly suggest you read each of these books, as they have wonderful characters and a great storyline that weaves throughout each book.
In Austin by Morning, country music star Camden Grace is preparing for a concert and calls upon his sister Kate to bring one of his wife Jenna’s custom guitars to the venue, as his starting act has dropped his guitar by accident and he needs a new one to play for the night. But one look passes between Kate and Rye, the opening act, and everything she ever thought about staying away from musicians and their ilk disappears from her mind. But it’s not all that easy to be Cam’s little sis, and he is fiercely protective. Can she step back from her protective big brother and step into the light with Rye?
I really enjoyed “Austin by Morning” by Alexa Padgett. I had the opportunity to receive a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but I would gladly pay full price for this novel. It’s worth it. This is the 3rd book in a series that is well written and builds off each other in a way that keeps you engaged and wanting more. I hadn’t read any of the previous works of this author, so I was excited to dig into something new and I quickly became a fan of the writing and the way the characters and story lines are developed and portrayed.
This book / series is a great addition to your book collection – so I would highly recommend you go and grab the whole series.
Happy Reading…enjoy!
What a beautiful story!! Kate and Ryes connection is undeniable but they are both dealing with a lot of obstacles and trust issues from past events that are both dealing with which makes it hard to open up and let anyone in but they can’t overlook how the other makes them feel. The way these Kate and Rye fit together was perfect on every level and seeped off the pages!!
I loved this hot and steamy romance! It was really well written with great characters and an engaging plot. I could not put it down and would recommend it to all!!

This is my first read by this author but it will not be the last. I found myself very quickly charmed by this book. Kate and Rye were both complex and compelling characters. These two each had some very deep emotional scars and plenty of baggage that weighs heavily on them and on their blossoming relationship. My heart actually hurt for the painful histories that these two had. The chemistry and sparks that this couple generated just sizzled but there was also a beautiful, sweet and poignant side to their relationship that melted my heart. I thought that these characters came across as genuine and extremely realistic do to their, flaws, fears and the mistakes they made. I cannot stress how much I simply adored Ike, Rye’s son. He was a total scene stealer and maybe somewhere down the road he could get his own book once he grows up. Heartache, drama, angst and powerful emotions fill this captivating tale of romantic and familial love.
Rye and Kate have great chemistry but they both have to deal with past issues before they can get their happy ending. Their story is an emotional roller coaster ride of emotions, misunderstandings, family drama and forgiveness. Austin By Morning is well written and has well developed characters. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
This series by Alexa is so good and this book is just as great. It’s the third in the series and I loved it so much. Rye and Kate are one great couple. It takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and leaves you with a happy heart. Another great book by Alexa.

Austin by Morning, An Austin After Dark, Book 3 by Alexa Padgett was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it! Even though it’s part of a series the author does a great job tying in previous characters. Rhys and Kate’s story is an emotional one and one I enjoyed reading! I loved their instant chemistry and their passion for music! Their story was tastefully written and right up my alley!
I enjoyed the read from start to finish. Ryes saves Kate from nefarious roadie and they feel an instant chemistry but both have baggage to get through before they can let themselves thing of a relationship. The storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

There’s nothing like a rockstar, single dad book. Rye comes off harsh, but he’s doing all he can to make sure his son has all he needs without apologies. He’s a terrific father who puts his son first before all else. I love the bond that Rye’s son Ike has with Kate. Its sweet, trusting, and nurturing. She loves him with an open heart and open arms. The bond between Kate and Rye is magnetic and electric, but past baggage gets in the way, and I think there is unintended self-sabotage at times. But the main theme in this book is forgiveness: in self, in each other, and in those that love them.
Friendship okay, love — mmm maybe not – hold on now. Kate meets Rye, a singer on a downhill turn right now. But sparks start flying with Rye. Love can be hard at times and Rye and Kate sure had their ups and downs. Do they get together? Good reading, good series.
I somehow missed an ARC opportunity when Austin by Morning was initially announced, and kicked myself for it. I saw the follow up and grabbed a copy, knowing that I had 3 days left to read the book before it came out. That was ok though, all of Alexa Padgett’s books are a dream to read. They tie in characters with past novels, it’s like visiting old friends. They flow well and have depth to the story that honestly gives them joys and faults. In Austin by Morning, it’s the implications and impacts of having a child with a disability.
This book is the story of Kate and Rye. Kate is the younger half-sister of singer Camden Grace (Deep in the Heart) and Carter Grace (Broken Rose of Texas). She is the successful Assistant to her sister in law Jenna, who owns a studio that designs and creates unique, high end guitars. Kate’s specialty is social media, promoting the shop and her brother Cam’s singing career. Having found out that her father is a philanderer, she is asked to keep a secret which forces her to lose respect for her mother. This undermines her self-respect and trust of men, coupled with being in the shadow of her popular brothers. Kate’s an emotional mess.
Enter Rye Lawson, the warm up singer for her brother’s concert. Attraction whips between them (Alexa knows how to write a scene with style and feeling), but we feel Rye holding back. He is a Protector- a man who cares and wants to make things right with the world. Walking to her car, he sees her being attacked by a roadie at the venue and comes to her rescue. This sets them on a course of mutual awareness fueled by family involvement; her brother and his son.
Rye has a 6 year old son named Ike who was born prematurely and suffers from ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity), requiring immediate surgery to correct. Unfortunately, his ex-wife has influenced her wealthy father and Rye’s custody is in question. Rye battles his feelings for Kate, his desire to succeed in the music business which is swelling with fans from social media and an impending record deal, and his obligation and love toward his son. His own domineering and successful father holds the wallet he desperately needs for the insurance coverage that pays for his son’s surgery.
Kate and Rye are creative and talented individuals. Their ups and downs keep the story well paced with a final drama that even took me by surprise. Tastefully written, well-defined characters and a situation that educates the reader about the many impacts of raising a child.
I’m looking forward to Ms. Padgett’s next installment (perhaps more Asher, please?)
I really enjoyed Austin by Morning by Alexa Padgett. It was well written with a strong message. Never give up. Rye and Kate were strong characters that fought for what they wanted. Kate works for best friend and sister-in-law. She first meets Rye after her brother Cam calls asking a favor. Rye is the opening act for Camden, a famous country musician. Actually she hears him singing and is mesmerized before ever laying eyes on him. Both Rye and Kate have their baggage to deal with. Rye is a single dad to a special needs son and Kate is still dealing with the knowledge her family lied to her whole life. She knows her family loves her but she doesn’t feel as though she belongs. Kate falls for Rye but her love for his son Ike is just as strong. Will their love be enough? Highly recommend!
Book three of the An Austin After Dark Book series a well written story with a very good storyline that kept me turning pages. This is singer songwriter Ryland/Rye Lawson, his son Ike, and Kate Grace these three will have so much to go through before they get their happy ending. A beautiful story of a caring father, the son he would do anything for and the woman they both come to care for and love. I recommend this story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Before Rye gives up on his music career, he grabs one last opportunity. And what an opportunity it turns out to be! But the good can’t last forever. I feel bad for Rye, stuck between doing what he loves and is so good at, and doing what his father wants and needs him to do, just so he can maybe get custody of his son from his father-in-law. Sometimes, he has a hard time being honest with Kate, which just kills her after her father’s betrayal and the silence of her family. More than anything, Rye wants to be his own man. He doesn’t want to take over his father’s business, and he doesn’t want what he views as charity with the industry contacts that Kate and Cam have set up for him. Ike completely steals the show every time he’s in the room. And he steals Kate’s heart the moment they meet. I love how protective Rye is about Ike, and how his son comes first always, and I hate him when he breaks Kate’s heart. I thought I’d never stop sniffling after Kate and her mother made their peace. This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and it’s one of my favorites.
