Nancy Atherton’s twenty-second cozy mystery in the beloved, nationally bestselling Aunt Dimity series. It’s early April in the small English village of Finch. Lori Shepherd’s husband and sons are spending Easter break camping, and Lori is perfectly happy to be left at home with Bess, spared a week of roughing it with a curious toddler. The two attend a village events committee meeting and Lori is … committee meeting and Lori is astonished when the elderly, soft-spoken widow Mrs. Annabelle Craven stands to make an announcement: she’s decided to hold a quilting bee in the old schoolhouse.
At the quilting bee, Lori ends up seated beside Mrs. Craven, delighted at the opportunity to learn more about her neighbor’s life in the village of Old Cowerton. But dear, sweet Mrs. Craven’s stories reveal a startling secret about her first husband’s death.
With Aunt Dimity’s advice, Lori sets out to learn the truth about what the residents of Old Cowerton refer to as the “widow’s curse”–and the deeper she digs, the more horrifying the tale becomes, until she discovers the most astounding revelation of all.
Watch out for Atherton’s latest, Aunt Dimity and the King’s Ransom, coming out in July 2018!

WHAT a great read. OH MY GOSH I love these books. Every time I think a new Aunt Dimity book cannot be ANY better than the previous one, I am proved wrong, and this one was no exception. So much is going on in this one and I am totally amazed at how wonderful and gracious Lori is, even in the midst of everything that is happening. She is such a great main character, even with all her faults and you cannot help but want to be friends with her.
I love and highly recommend both this book AND this series. To fully understand everything, you must start with book one, but I warn you; ONLY do that if you want to be sucked up into one of the best series I have ever read.
I loved all of the aunt dimity books!
This is an amazingly wonderful series. I am always anxiously waiting for the next installment.
Fun is also a qualifier I would use for the Aunt Dimity books. I enjoyed all of them. You can sit down for an interesting enjoyable read without any nasty surprises. You get a good mystery and a character-driven plot that’s well written. These books are like potato chips … you can’t stop at just one.
Aunt Dimity never fails to entertain!!! Read all the books in the series.
I loved this book. Lori went through so many bad experiences and then remained kind hearted when her inherent made her rich. Other characters and places were really wonderful also. Really enjoyable read that is hard to put down.
I enjoy the aunt dignity series
I love Aunt Dimity. Her books are full of kindness and sage advice wrapped in a complicated mystery!
Because I read for Characters and Setting, I enjoyed this book. The characters were likable, and I enjoyed the descriptions of the settings. Although Plot is not of primary importance too me, this one developed well and had a twist, which I always enjoy.
I really liked this book. Sharp Style and moved along nicely. Different story but it held my interest easily. Read this. You won’t be wasting your time and you’ll be fully entertained.
For some reason I really love this series. Wish the books were longer with more meat.
Very light mystery. Procedural with a bit of fantasy.
Silly
sometimes thought provoking
Lori inherited her mother’s deceased best friend’s English cottage. As Lori gets involved in mysterious murders, Aunt Diminty shows up in spirit to guide her in her search for solving the mysteries. I started with this book and continue to follow Lori and Aunt Dimity in the series. A good fun read.
