Born and …
Born and raised at Nash’s Folly, the family ranch, Garrett Nash loves life in the bustling community of Pendleton as the 20th century approaches.
When his neighbor passes away and leaves behind a plucky widow, Garrett takes on the role of her protector and guardian. His admiration for her tenacious spirit soon turns to something more. He just needs to convince the strong-willed woman to give love another chance.
Excerpt:
Before he let sense overrule desire, he yanked off his gloves and tossed them on the nearest chair then took her face in his hands, brushing his thumbs over her cheekbones, gazing into her eyes and getting lost in the warm blue depths.
Lowering his head to hers, he only meant to give her a swift, chaste kiss. Heat exploded between them at the touch of their lips. Garrett lost his ability to think as he repeatedly pressed his mouth, hard and hungry, to hers. When her arms slid around his neck, he drew her even closer and deepened the kiss.
Garrett felt lost to everything except the woman in his arms, the woman who fit there so perfectly. He admired her spirit, appreciated her fine figure, enjoyed her laughter, and liked her caring heart. What he felt now, though, was so much more.
He felt passion and, if he cared to admit it, soul-deep love for the girl who kissed him with every bit as much yearning as he kissed her.
Aundy finally pulled back with a ragged breath, eyes wide in delightful wonder. She’d promised herself she would never get involved with another man, but her feelings for Garrett were more than just involved.
Involved meant there was care and concern, maybe friendship and fun.
The wild currents of longing swirling inside her were so strong they made her bones ache. The emotions Garrett stirred in her were much, much more than she ever imagined feeling for anyone and most definitely beyond being merely involved.
“Garrett, I… you…” she said, unable to think with the delightful tingle of his kisses still riding her lips. She couldn’t believe he’d kissed her. Or that she’d kissed him in return.
Never, not once, had any kiss ever made her feel like her heart would pound right out of her chest. Her stomach felt light and her knees weak while she scrambled to regain the ability to have a coherent thought. How could one kiss, one magnificent kiss, affect her so?

I loved this book! It was a mail order bride book that gives a lot of historical events!
Loved the main character, Aundy, she’s kind and not afraid of hard work and stubborn enough to make her dreams come true despite hard obstacles against her. The Nash family are great characters that embrace Aundy and are friendly and super helpful without expecting anything in return. I loved the whole city girl turned farm girl theme.
We’re introduced to a young lady who chose to be a mail order bride because she was tired of the big city and working in a factory.
She chooses a young man from Pendleton, Oregon. They wed and sadly there’s an accident and Aundy was now a widower.
This young lady is so strong and goes through so much for just arriving in Pendleton. I was so in …
A mail order bride from Chicago meets her intended in Pendleton, Oregon is and they are married immediately upon her arrival. Then her adventure begins. As a 21 year old, she becomes owner of a ranch and learns how to cope with gender bias. Kept me reading until the resolution. Very enjoyable!
This is the first book in the series and what a kick off. Loved the characters. The drama. The happily ever after. As a fan of Shanna Hatfield I haven’t found anything that she has written to bad. A definite read.
The writing is very simplistic, but it still an enjoyable story. It’s a cute, clean romance.
A historical romance that had action, humor, and suspense all wrapped into the storyline. The story of a woman’s success during hard times and against the odds.
I loved this series Of girls and what they went though. Great story to sit and read.

Aundy is such a spitfire! I just loved her!! The way she faced challenges, analyzed situations, worked hard and just went for it was truly inspiring. She is also humble, kind and caring. It’s no wonder Garrett fell for her! He was definitely worth falling for himself! I love him and Aundy together and can’t wait to see them in other books in the …
Shanna Hatfield is one of my favorite authors! I have read several of her novels but there are still quite a few I have not read just yet….
Liked this book very much
An enjoyable read
I loved this book, it was hard to put it down!!
I couldn’t put the book down. Had me from the beginning. Few twists I didn’t see coming. Very well written. Loved it!
After the tragic death of her brand new husband left the widow with a strong will to learn everything she could about the farming operation but also left her an easy target for men hoping to marry her and gain the farm.
I enjoyed the way this book added a little bit of mystery to the story. It didn’t take long to solve but it did take longer to get to the motive. I enjoy mail order brides story lines and this one had some extra elements to it.
I didn’t know if I would like this one, but I enjoyed it very much. I’m not sure of the historical accuracy, so if you’re looking for authentic, this may not be it. But it was a good, romantic story that I would read again.
I liked this book. A book to make the heart warm.
I didn’t like the cover but enjoy the book and the twist and turns. Good sexual tension without being R rated.
