Another great book! The worlds that are created are fantastic! And there are many trials that Jacob must go through. There are setbacks that need to be overcome in this book and there are some twists I did not see coming!
The twists and turns of this continuing epic just keep coming. Jacob learns about sacrifices and how far he will go to protect his people. He also learns more about his past. An awww moment towards the end gave me a happy thrill (no spoilers). Loved this book and I’m on to #4.
This was my favorite so far. I loved seeing the growth in Jacob — both in his powers, and learning what sacrifice and putting others first means. It’s a lot for ANYONE, but especially a teenager. My biggest complaint with the last book dealt with his brother, and that was all answered with this book. There’s still more to come, and I look forward to it.
I received a free copy for an honest review.
What would you do if you lost all five senses? Would you be able to complete your mission? Is it even possible? Jacob will soon discover whether he has the moxy to complete his mission even without his five senses. Things are heating up for our friends in August Fortress. I can’t wait for the next installment! *I received a free eBook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
This gets off to a slow start presumably setting up for the exciting parts. Jacob experiences many disappointments and hardships in this third book of Kilenya Chronicles. He also has a harrowing experience with a new creature of Pearson’s creation called an Eetu, a killer fish which catches Jacob’s scent and follows him as he keyed through door after door for many hours but not without suffering many injuries and fatigue. The ultimate goal in this book is to reach August Fortress where the Shiengol warriors have been trapped there by the Lorkons who have put several traps around the area that make it difficult for anyone to get in or out. But this is not all. There are so many twists and turns in this story I was beginning to wonder what will Ms Pearson think up next. Each twist was harrowing enough in and of itself. I’m wondering what she has in store for the next book. Can’t wait to read it.
I loved the original August Fortress, book 3 of Andrea Pearson’s original Kilenya series (which can still be purchased on Kindle), despite that fact that I was already several multiple times it’s targeted middle school aged audience. I liked it enough that when the author decided to do a revised version of the series, aimed at the YA and adult reader, I had to try it out. I’m glad I did. This is book three of that revised series. I strongly recommend reading the first two books in the series before this one. They have been modified much more than this one, as doing so seemed to be needed. That was not the case here. August Fortress (slightly advised to mature the characters) is highly addictive. As with the prior books, it is a great book of magical adventures with strong characters that continue to develop and a neat storyline. A really fun read, as much in this “matured” version as in the original, and easy to recommend.
THE HEAT IS ON!!!
Talk about hitting the ground running. Wow! Kickin up dust and taking names. One action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, page turning dynamo that captivates from the start. All the suspense, drama and danger are on the rise and flows throughout as tension spirals. All the ups and downs along with unpredictable surprises that keep you frozen to your seat. The characters and their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out. The scenes are so vividly detailed it’s easy to picture each scenario as it plays off one another perfectly. Andrea did an excellent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Andrea, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
August Fortress is the third book in the Kilenya Chronicles series. You can read this book as a standalone, but it does begin where Ember Gods ended and sets the stage for future books. If you like fantasy, magic and adventure, you will like this book and the series. There is violence and use of magic.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I’m not going to repeat all of that info here. The characters are well written and multidimensional. The author does a good job of summarizing the storyline from the first two books for new readers. The story keeps a steady pace throughout the book to keep this reader interested. It keeps you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed in the pages ahead. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading future books in the Kilenya Chronicles series.
