I don’t apologize or regret the destruction I’m about to cause. I’m at peace with what I must do… nothing can or will stand in my way. Not even the raven-haired beauty with golden eyes who haunts my dreams. No one is innocent in the story of my life. Fairy tales don’t exist!I. Make. No. Excuses.Everyone needs to atone, and I’m the man who is going to see to it.
David and Charlie, wow. I absolutely loved everything about them. David was so tortured, I want to just hug him. Charlie was so strong and fierce, I loved her. Amazing book and I definitely recommend.
I received a free copy of this book and I am leaving an honest review.

Cassandra Robbins has built this raw, dark, gritty and passionate (not lovey passionate, just deep down in your gut passionate) mc series that is like no other mc series out there.
Atone: The Disciples #2 is about atonement and revenge. David has come back to finalize a chapter in his life that ripped him apart. His demons throughout this book are so real and heartbreaking. Cassandra’s writing puts you right into his shoes. You are right there with him feeling the anger and pain. The fight through addiction. The numbness he feels. The writing is just so good.
Charlize “Charlie” character is well written. Her love for David is so strong throughout this book. The chemistry was definitely there. I just feel like David kind of overshadowed her a bit which is totally understandable. This was David’s story and, man, what a story.
Does David get his atonement? You have to read to find out. Is this a HEA? Yes, but the way the ending of this book happened, I REALLY enjoyed. It is not your typical bad guy dies and they live happily ever after. No this is a story that takes you through each step forward, each step backward and every hurdle to deserve that HEA. Thank you for the depth in this book.
After reading Entitled & Enlightened, it was nice to read more about David and understand his story. His story is filled with tough roads…terrible parents, a tough childhood, addictions and personal losses that made this drama filled love story intriguing. I enjoyed the characters and am looking forward to reading more about this MC. I received this book at no cost in exchange for my honest review.
Does everyone deserve atonement?
Is there truly a way to make ‘reparation for a wrong or injury’ that will allow everyone involved to move forward? To not necessarily forget the past but find a way to focus more on the present despite all of the damage done?
For David, it’s taken him nine years to even get to a point where he could consider taking back some of his old life, and even then, he struggles with making amends, with figuring out how everything fell apart and left him and his life a shell of what it was…of what it was supposed to be.
But what he wants is revenge…that’s what he comes back for…too bad another part of his past…a part that he doesn’t deserve anymore won’t give up on him, even when he’s more than given up on himself.
I don’t think broken or damaged are strong enough words to capture just how much David’s life is dictated by the pieces of him that he’ll never get back, by the life that took from him in such a debilitating way. So it makes sense that David is a work-in-progress throughout the course of the entire story; he’s about as rock bottom as one could be, so the process of moving forward, of letting things go, of putting the past in the past is not always a forward movement, which is expected, but through it all, even at times when I thought she should have walked away, Charlie remains, helping to keep David in whatever light she can and fighting against the darkness that seems to always be threatening him and what they’re building together.
Cassandra Robbins crafted her own darker take on second chances – ones that exist in the dark and gritty world of bikers, where death and mayhem reign, and where lives are taken so easily. David’s second chance comes in many forms but the one that has the strongest hold on him is his need to make those pay for taking something precious from him. What he didn’t count on, though, was a girl from the past making a stand in his present, offering him everything he doesn’t feel he deserves, but is too far gone not to take some of what she’s giving him, even if he vowed to never put himself in that position again.
What I love most about MC Romances is the fact that there is always a supporting cast of characters, whether it’s the hero’s biker brothers or the females who surround the heroine, and while this group includes more misfits and hellions than not, it’s clear that they would go to war for each other, go to hell and back, in order to make things right…in order to get what they want…in order to make those individuals or other clubs pay for their sinful ways, even if the core group have their own sins to pay for as well.
The Disciples MC is not a typical brotherhood or club; they’re 1 percenters and they’re unashamed to be who they are, despite society’s view on them. I’m interested to see where Robbins will take these bikers and their old ladies and what that means for readers who are just waiting for their next Disciples’ ride!
4 Poison Apples
I just started this book last night and have not finished it yet but I can tell you that it’s already a 5 star read I mean come on this is the book about David , Blades cousin that was in the explosion with his dad and brother and we are finding out what happened all them years ago! I can tell you that this book has sucked me in from the first page and I am so anxious to find out what happens and meet Charlie, David’s love interest . Cassandra Robbins is fast becoming one of my favorite authors and her words and MC world she creates has me anticipating and excited to read everything she creates!
I will update my review when I finish this book but I doubt my star rating will change.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book
This one from Cassandra Robbins is the very best kind of gritty romance. Seriously damaged hero. Beautifully brave heroine. My reading Catnip! It’s definitely her strongest writing to date! It’s book two in the series but is a complete standalone.
It explores topics that aren’t easy to read about and she does them beautifully. The pain, the remorse and the self hatred pour from the pages. David is a seriously broken man and once you find out his reasons you will understand the path his life has taken.
The chemistry between the main characters is explosive and so believable. He’s deliciously dirty and draws out her inner desires. Serious need of new panties with these two!
I loved their banter, their character growth and the genuine love you could feel between them Couple this with fantastic supporting characters (who all need their own story – hint, hint) and an ending that had me gasping out loud and I was sold. Definitely recommend if you like your alphas a little on the dark side.
4.5 stars
Atone is the second book in the Disciples series from Cassandra Robbins……and wow! What a wonderful story this was. It wasn’t an easy read at times, as it dealt with some very heavy subject matter – it was dark, violent, raw, angry…..but there was so much emotion flowing from the pages that I couldn’t help but be sucked into the story.
David was such a beautiful and tormented soul, so much darkness in his life. Until Charlie comes back into it. She really brought such a light into his bleak world. She truly saw and understood who he was and accepted him, no matter what. Charlie had to fight for what she wanted, as David tried to push her away time after time. But they had such an intense and amazing connection between them, that would always be there no matter what.
Really enjoying this series of bikers – so many awesome characters and stories left to explore with the Disciples and I can’t wait to see what comes next! And, since I haven’t read the Entitled Duet, which I know has a connection to this story – definitely bumping that one up on my TBR!
Huge MC Winner!!!
How do you come back from something that was so traumatic in your life that you leave everything behind for nine years? Now you’re back wanting your cut back and you want to seek revenge on whomever it was that changed the club and your life forever. There has to be a rat inside the club.
Charlie was just a couple months from turning eighteen and she had the biggest crush on the bad boy biker with looks like Thor. There definitely was chemistry between these two but there was something that made David a guy that at this time was unattainable.
Once David returned Charlie just had to see him to tell him something that had been weighing on her for years. Would David be able to handle the raven haired beauty and all that she offered or would his revenge take over. The demons that followed David all these years would only calm when he was with Charlie. They had a passion that was beyond words.
I highly recommend this book and this series. This is definitely a book you don’t want to miss!!
David/Poet is Blade’s cousin and a member of the mc. Charlie is young when they meet but she’s in love with him. A tragedy occurs for David and he ends up leaving the mc and town for years. This story picks up when he comes back for revenge and is dealing with the pain of his past. Charlie is all grown up and still in love with him. There are so many twists and turns here with addiction, betrayal, and finding redemption. I have loved this series so far and am looking forward to more books.
5 EMOTIONAL STARS!! This is my favorite book by this phenomenal author. David and Charlie’s story was so emotional and beautiful…I felt every emotion as I read. I am loving this series so much!!! If you haven’t started this series….do it now.
Another great addition to the series, this book was packed full of emotion. It broke my heart and there were many tissues required. But it was also HOT! I am really enjoying this series.
Cassandra writes with unbelievable passion and it comes across in her books, Atone was no different! Her writing delivers with passion, hurt, loss, and betrayal combined into an amazing book. David/Poet’s past is heartbreaking and that hurt is at the very core of this book. His loss is something no parent should have to go through and his rage is more than understandable. Charlie is the perfect counter to his darkness and she knows how to stand by her man through the heartbreak. I fell in love with this couple from the first chapter. With each book in this series the storylines just get better and better. I can’t wait to see where the journey for the Disciples goes with this series.
I wasn’t a big fan of David after the Entitled Duet (if you haven’t read them then you REALLY need to get on that). When I heard about this book and knew it was his story I was quite excited about it and felt totally fine spreading the word about it because I just KNEW and had total faith that Cassandra was going to change my mind about him. I was right…. through the eyes of Charlie, my feelings on this man changed before I was even 25% in! I started this book in the morning and was finished the same night!
David has had some bad stuff happen and didn’t deal with it well, and now he thinks that he is broken beyond repair and is no good for Charlie. Despite this he can not seem to stay away from her. Their pull is too strong. I ran through a whole lot of emotions while reading this story. There is so much loss and pain felt, some truly heartbreaking moments. And then there are the sweet moments that make you feel like it is all totally worth it! Basically this book is a MUST READ. Another “more than 5 star” read for me.
You also get to know bits and pieces of some of the other members of the MC. I am so intrigued by them! I can not wait to see what their stories are! I am so ready for all the tears, laughter, heartbreak and love that this world of the Disciples has to offer….. I AM HERE FOR IT!!! Bring on all the bikers! (And Doug…. I need his story too).
After Lethal, I was very curious about the Disciple men. I was fascinated with David ‘Poet’. Atone was taking a darker route, gritty and revenge. I loved the hot chemistry between David and Charlie. Their connection was instant and fiery. Atone was very emotional and the struggle to cope was painful.
I had the most depth and feelings throughout the story. Atone had represented David’s best/worst Oxygen Thief! My oh my emotional heart goes for Charlie…She is truly the bright light …
Cassandra is the author that brought me into MC Romance! Atone did not disappoint! I love that we got a glance into other characters lives but this one focuses on David the Poet & Charlie! Their story is full of hot heat, lots of action & suspense, and hard emotions! What David has to overcome is heartbreaking yet Charlie will not give up! This is a romance you do not want to miss!!
The anticipation to read this book, for me, was like the day before Christmas! Cassandra Robbins is on her way to becoming not only the one of the best writers for this MC books series but for books that will have your heart in chaos but with each line, put your heart back together again. Charlie (Charlize) and David’s (Poet) story was so much more than a second chance MC romance story. The book was about redemption, angst, lust, repentance, love and closure from the past to start a new beginning. I enjoyed not the reintroduction of characters from the previous book in this series but how the author intertwined characters from previous books in a different series. This book can be read as a stand-alone but I courage everyone to read all of Cassandra Robbins’ previous books. Did mention how insanely how the sex scenes are…panty melting!!! . If you’re looking for an absolutely amazing book to read, THIS IS IT!!!
WOW!!!! Cassandra Robbins just keeps getting better and better!!! This book pulled me in from the first word and wouldn’t let me go until I had finished it. So. Darn. Good. David is so beautifully broken and Charlie is his saving grace. The choices made, past coming back to haunt the present, and love that stands the test of time….it’s all in this amazing book!!! My favorite MC read of the year…you NEED this book in your LIFE!! Cassandra’s weaves together a story like no one else!!
4 and 1/2+ stars of gritty, steamy MC goodness! Angst, revenge and danger with lots of heat.
“The way I see it, we all need to atone.”
Cassandra Robbins showed us in the first book of this series, Lethal, that she’s not afraid to deal out the dark and gritty when it comes to MC Romance and this second book is no different.
David and Charlie find themselves reunited after 10 years and quickly find that they still have feelings for each other. David’s issues (and there are a boat-load of them) threaten to destroy any kind of life he might have with Charlie (or anyone, really.)
This story is filled with many hard to read moments and at times, I’ll admit, I didn’t like David very much. At times, I wanted a little bit more for Charlie than what he gave her. In the end though, I was rooting for them to find their way. I enjoyed revisiting some characters from book one and the club drama was enough to keep me reading until late into the night.
Overall, I thought this was a great addition to the series and I’m really looking forward to the next book.
Dark, twisted and SO, SO good!! If I could give it more than 5 stars I definitely would!!
David suffered a great loss 9 years ago and finally returns home to seek his revenge but in all his time away he hasn’t stopped thinking about the Raven-haired beauty with the golden cat eyes!!
