A cozy mystery that’s out of this world… B&B work, even if there is a faux-UFO in the roof. After all, what’s not to love about a Victorian nestled in the high Sierra foothills?
None of her carefully crafted policies and procedures, however, can prepare her for a corpse in room seven – the body of her small-town sheriff’s ex-husband. Good thing Susan has her own plans to solve the crime.
But is there a government conspiracy afoot? Or is the murder a simple case of small-town vengeance?
Susan must keep all her wits about her. Because the killer isn’t finished, and if she isn’t careful, her fate may be written in the stars…

Kind of pedestrian.
I had to start this book several times. Once I set out to finish it I was very happy this I had. It’s a hoot trying to figure out “who dun it” I think the premise is out of this world. If you’re into aliens you will probably love this version
Modern setting
The setting for the story could be any small town
Such a fun read, deliciously entertaining!
I enjoyed the book’s emphasis on family and tradition.
Quirky story with engaging characters It prompted me to immediately read another of the author’s books.
I really liked this book – it was just what I needed at this moment in time. I had just finished a “heavy” 6 book series and felt bogged down. This book brought my mood up like magic and was cute, loved the characters and a very enjoyable read!
This book kept you interested from start to finish, it had you guessing as to who the killer was, and it wasn’t the person that I suspected.
Received a free copy for a review. I loved the characters, the crazy setting and the story. I’ll be reading more books by Kirsten Weiss.
B&B owner Susan Witsend just inherited a UF0-themed B&B from her grandma. While trying to keep her business afloat, a guest (and the sheriff’s ex-husband) is found murdered in his room. She has her hands full with entertaining conspiracy-crazed UFO enthusiast B&B guests, being eyes for the local angry sheriff, and trying to avoid the “woman in black” FBI agent that is a mystery of her own.
This cozy mystery has a funny premise, it takes place at a UFO-themed Bed and Breakfast. The old Victorian mansion even has a faux-UFO in the roof. The main character Susan is an accountant turned B&B owner that likes to use her trusty black ledger/planner to document and notate everything. Besides inheriting the B&B, she has also inherited a “cousin” named Dixie that is supposed to be the B&B’s maid but isn’t around much to do her job. Susan’s childhood friend Arsen is always around to lend a hand and could eventually be a love interest.
This is a fun well written cozy mystery that has a great potential of becoming a much-loved series.
I was given a free copy to read: It is a fun story and very original. There are a couple loose ends that I would like to see tied up, but definitely enjoyed it. I will be reading more by this author.
Meh it was OK at best; it is not like I hated it or anything, but I couldn’t connect to any of the characters at all. I love a good bed and breakfast or inn novel but this one just did not do it for me. There was so much going on but at the same time nothing?? Does that make sense?? Not sure if I will continue this series or not which kind of bums me out…
I was not fond of the flying saucer lore in the book but the scheme involving a crooked chiropractor and bogus billing was imaginative.
Quick easy read
Somewhat predictable story. The scenery, beagle and recipes are the best part of this book. The characters were interesting, but not altogether realistic.
Juvenile
A bit too bizarre for everyone’s taste, found myself skipping through it.
Entertaining read
Not my cup of tea.
I liked this book for the most part
