A cozy mystery that’s out of this world… B&B work, even if there is a faux-UFO in the roof. After all, what’s not to love about a Victorian nestled in the high Sierra foothills?
None of her carefully crafted policies and procedures, however, can prepare her for a corpse in room seven – the body of her small-town sheriff’s ex-husband. Good thing Susan has her own plans to solve the crime.
But is there a government conspiracy afoot? Or is the murder a simple case of small-town vengeance?
Susan must keep all her wits about her. Because the killer isn’t finished, and if she isn’t careful, her fate may be written in the stars…

I very much enjoyed this mystery and would love to come back to the Wits’ End Inn soon. The UFO enthusiasts are an interesting bunch and there was a lot going on with lots of twists and turns and some good chuckles.
I just wish the disappearance and reappearance of the group of people that happened in the past would have been better solved…or maybe that is something that will be picked up again in future installments?
I will be back for more.
It was Great Book. I recommend it. Loved it.
A humorous UFO crime mystery.
A somewhat inept B&B owner, a dog afraid of steps, and way too many suspects make this a good crime mystery that manages to be hilarious at the same time.
This is a new author for me but I am so glad that I discovered her because I loved this book. The cover is what attracted my attention in the first place (a ufo in the roof, I just knew it wasn’t going to be your usual cosy mystery). Then once I read the blurb I just had to give it ago and I really enjoyed it. The characters are fun, likeable and quirky (and even has a dog, although I have never met a beagle that well behaved) but it is the unusual ness of the story that held my attention until the end. By unusual I mean the setting of a ufo B&B, in a small town. It was written well, with plenty of UFO talk without it being weird or strange but highly amusing The mystery unfolded nicely and despite guessing who the killer was I didn’t want the story to end. I will be looking out for the next book in the series and checking audible too.
Susan has inherited her Gran’s slightly unusual B&B. The small town is famous for its strange sightings of ufos in the night sky and her Gran has capitalised on that by making her B&B a ufo themed retreat. Susan has never seen a ufo or little green men before and the only strange thing she discovers is the dead body in room number seven. The sheriff is taken off the case, as the dead man is her ex husband and the FBI is called in (or is it the men in black?). With the B&B filled with guests Susan is surprised to find she and her cousin Dixie are the prime suspects. Dixie because she was a troubled teen and had access to the room and Susan because The dead man refused to pay his bill. The dead man had a past with the town and a number of towns folk had plenty of reasons to kill him including a few of her guests. But which one and will he or she be caught before Susan or Dixie is arrested? Susan doesn’t think so and sets out to find the real killer, with the help from her friends and day planner. The problem is by doing this she makes herself a target and maybe one of the accidents might just bring her investigation to a crashing holt.
I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Good book
This is a well-written mystery at a UFO-themed B&B. The characters are interesting and the plot has several twists and turns.
Great story with wonderful characters.
Started off slow but enjoyed by the end
Cozy Mystery, I like how the mystery weaves this way and that. I think the main character is a bit ditzy and shouldn’t be a sleuth, she does need to open her eyes to the romance in front of her. I do like that her inherited B&B is UFO themed with Bailey the beagle included. A keeper.
Entertaining beach read. The characters are charming and a bit crazy.
Great story, with a little UFO twist. A fun read.
Entertaining
Entertaining, easy read.
An interesting setting. Fun to read.
This was a cozy mystery that had lovely moments that made me laugh. Like a lot of Cozy mysteries, it takes a seemingly long time to get to the point and lots of repetition of the main character’s conundrums to get sorted out. I really liked the ending – it wasn’t until 3/4 of the way thru the book that I started getting the idea of who the bad guy was. I would read another book by Kirsten Weiss. If you like a light read for the beach or waiting in a doctor’s office…this will keep you entertained and interested. 🙂
Fun and interesting mystery. Loved it!
Again more twists and turns well worth the read.
