What a outstanding story! Gripping, Suspenseful, Obsession and Intriguing. At the Mercy of the Highlander will keep you spellbound from the moment you begin the journey with Kaiden and Leanna until the very end! Fiona Faris is not afraid to write a story that is heart rendering, heart stopping and with an evil villains obsession straight from hell. Fiona has a writing style that I thoroughly enjoy; she’s filled this story with characters that come off the pages and pulled me into this tale, it’s well-written, with strong plot and great dialogue, with setting descriptions and action sequences that are wonderfully vivid which brings this read together perfectly. As Kaiden spins a tale of deception and seduction and woe to her that gets caught or so one would think as Leanna finds herself wanting to sin with her rescuer. As Kaiden brings Leanna closer to her uncle’s emotions start to bombard them on their unforgettable journey to admitting their love for one another in this heart felt story filled with drama, humorous moments, sizzling passion, heartbreak, blackmail, trials and tribulations, an epic fight, turmoil, and while the suspense builds and tensions escalate with the twist and turns abound that makes this one outstanding story!

A very good book by a very good writer.
As usual, Fiona Faris delivers another really great adventure. You’ll fall in love with the main characters (Leanna and Kaiden) and really detest the villain (Sir Benedict)…exactly what you’re supposed to do… because the author is really great at developing…

The female lead was weak and dull. The book was too long and too boring.
Another fantastic book by Fiona Faris! I loved both Leeanna and Kaiden and I thought the way Kaiden used his disguise as a priest to help them travel safely through the countryside was so imaginative and original! Leeanna started out young and immature and I liked how she grew in both strength of character and maturity throughout the book. Kaiden also shows a lot of growth in his character as he becomes mature enough to realize and understand just what it means to be Laird and is finally ready to accept that mantle for his clan. A nastier villain than Sir Benedict has hardly ever been created and it was so good to see him get his due!

I enjoyed reading your book . It had a nice storyline and was kinda funny when Kaiden and Leanna were first traveling together. The drama in the story was quite intriguing. All of it combined kept the story very interesting. Looking forward to your next story
Enjoyed this fast paced book by Fiona Faris. Lady Leanna Williamson has been promised to Sir Benedict Harlowe by her father in return for his mounting debts. Seeing a bleak future Leanna ran hoping she could make it to her mother’s family in Scotland before Sir Benedict caught up to her. Instead she was rescued by Father Kaiden Carmichael who was also on the run and disguised as a priest. Can Kaiden deliver Leanna safely to Scotland before they are caught? Will he be able to tell her the truth when the time comes or will he lose the first woman he has ever loved? A page turner to the end!
Mercy of the Highlander is a wonderful story of the wrongs being righted and family making the world a better place, featuring a naive book lover and a con artist. This story is powerful, relatable and sweet but saucy to the core. Once the plot starts to thicken and the action starts you won’t want to put this book down! Thank you Fiona!
Fiona Faris is one of my “go-to” writers which means I’ve read many of her books. This one is one of my favorites. The two main characters each escape what they feel is a destiny determined by others or tradition. In Leanna’s case, running away was an act of daring and bravery while Kaiden left his family for selfish and immature reasons. That they found each other is Fate at work and that they saved each other is what makes this story so captivating. Secondary characters are well drawn and believable: Leanna’s selfish, narcissistic father; his evil “partner” who eventually controls all of her father’s decisions; her long-suffering mother who finally takes a stand; and the entire clan that stands behind Kaiden. All are complicated and move the story along. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the journey to Leanna and Kaiden’s HEA. Highly recommend. 🙂
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I enjoyed following each character’s emotional growth as the story unfolded. Even Leanna’s father at the very end, lol. There were also lots of funny moments due to lies that created entanglements. I also liked how 2 entire clans banded together to go rescue Leanna.
