This is a short, sweet tale. He grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, but he has the formula to make her life happier.
At Odds with the Billionaire is a clean, sweet friends to lovers novella. This is a very enjoyable story about two people who have misjudged each other since they met in high school. Seraphina has always had money. Gabriel made his money after he left school. Gabriel learns he has misjudged Seraphina and gets busy trying to make amends. This is a fun way to pass a couple of hours.
Gabriel Brooks competed with Seraphina James all through high school. He was the scholarship student and she was the trust fund baby. He just bought her family’s vacation home and is in a position to help her father’s cancer treatments. But she still doesn’t trust his motives. There’s always been an attraction between them. Can they move past their childhood rivalry? This was a short clean funny romance, but I felt they moved too quickly from enemies to romantic love interests.
At Odds with a Billionaire is a short story of a second chance for two high school classmates that finally find their chance at love. Gabriel and Seraphina’s best quality was their ability to banter. But when fate changes their lives and they meet again after about 17 years they pick up where they left off. Finally, with the money inherited from his father and his business he is using to help cancer patients he finally is a billionaire as Seraphina’s family had always been which makes him feel he is now in the same league to feel confident enough to think a relationship between them will work. He asked her out for a date where he recreates the night of their prom that they attended with other people as Gabriel could not get the nerve up to ask before she had been invited by another boy. This gesture of sentiment on Gabriel’s part has stolen Seraphina’s heart.
This book all takes place with in 2-3 days. Really think that it needed to be a longer story.
When Gabriel runs into his high school nemesis Seraphina old feelings pop up including the crush they had with each other. This time around maybe they can make it a match made in Heaven. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
A fun, short, sweet and cute story! It’s shorter than most of the author’s books and easily read in one sitting. Even with the limited word count, the author develops the two main characters well and gives depth and history to who Sera and Gabe are. Theirs is a high school attraction that was never acted upon when they were young. But then they’re literally thrown together in Hawaii, they realize their attraction still holds and need to figure out what that means. Their banter is fun and you can see sparks flying off the pages when Sera and Gabe verbally spar.
I can’t wait to get to know Gabe’s siblings in the next two books in this billionaire series.
I received a copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to post a review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
At Odds with the Billionaire by Liwen Ho is a very short quick read. It is a cute book about misinterpretations and once they are cleared up you will have your happy ending. It was an enemies, friends to lovers’ book. It was a very clean and enjoyable book. It was well written and the chemistry between the characters was great. This is a great book for someone who wants a quick and easy good read.
