Q&A with author John W. Mefford:
Q: Is AT Last (book 6) really the final Alex Troutt thriller?
JWM: Yes — but only temporarily. The Alex Troutt Thrillers comprise the first sub-series in the Redemption Thriller Series. Next up are the Ivy Nash Thrillers – all six novels will be published in 2017. I anticipate at least two more sub-series in the Redemption Thriller Series. Each sub-series stands on its own, but the main characters and underlying plot will ultimately connect by the time I publish all books in the Redemption Thriller Series. And yes, Alex will return in another six novels later in the series. It’s the most challenging and fulfilling creative endeavor I’ve undertaken. IN Defiance is the first novel of the Ivy Nash Thrillers and is available now.
Q: Are you sure AT Last isn’t the last of Alex? I mean, the tittle seems to suggest it’s the last one.
JWM: Trust me, it’s only the beginning. I focus on one set of characters for six novels, but subtly weave in the necessary plot elements to have each of the sub-series connect when I reach the final six thrillers in the Redemption Thriller Series. It’s been a blast to write.
Q: How are Alex Troutt and Ivy Nash connected?
JWM: If I told you, I’d have to kill you.:) But when you find out over the course of releasing each sub-series in the Redemption Thriller Series, it will make you shudder.
Q: Do I need to read all of the books in the correct order?
JWM: Not necessarily. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, as can each sub-series. But for the most fulfilling reading experience, I recommend reading them in the following order:
Books in the Alex Troutt Thrillers:
AT Bay
AT Large
AT Once
AT Dawn
AT Dusk
AT Last
Books in the Ivy Nash Thrillers:
IN Defiance
IN Pursuit
IN Doubt
Break IN
IN Control
IN The End
Q: When you finally finish all the books in the Redemption Thriller Series, are you just going to retire?
JWM: I’m just getting started. In the near future, I’ll be kicking off a co-authoring project with a friend of mine, and I have another mystery-thriller series in mind that I’m really excited about. I could see that series expanding into something much broader. Who knows what my mind will cook up….maybe it will end up being 24 novels as well.

Suspense and action
I found this story very hard to put down. I read on my commute to & from work. However this book i started in the morning read on my way home called for take and read until i finished! So if you enjoy a really great book that takes your entire attention until the end read this story!
A little predictable, but an OK read.
Mr. Mefford has written a whole series of books that culminate in one final explosive novel. Check his website on Amazon and see all the series that form a major series. Recommended.
Another riveting story from John Mefford. In this one he brings Alex, Ivy and Ozzie together. It is a breathtaking tale of Alex’s past and contains many twists and turns and a completely astonishing ending. It completely develops each character and makes you feel as though you know them.Sadly, some of the characters you’ come to know from from previous books in the series die. You will find yourself in tears not only from their deaths but also in this affects their loved ones. It will be very hard to put this book down before you reach the end and you will want to read the previous books in this 24 book series because you will have fallen in love with John Mefford’s style of writing.
Lots of closure for main character, which allows her to be free to go forth and live her own life now. Alex had a lot of life’s twists she was dealing with but she led her personal life with her children in mind and lived cautiously. She finally gets the closure she needs with the help of her loyal team who ran to her aid at a time when most needed. John Mefford with his unique approach to writing delivers us a great great read and heaps up lots of action doing it. Definitely a page turner and a great MUST read book!
excellent read-
Good story line, but not too original.
easy read with average style but very suspenseful, wanting to get to the end of it
Writes well you don’t want to put down the book
It was great!
Great book
Enjoyable
Alex is a strong female character who has managed to create a pretty respectable life for her children, even though her childhood was very challenging. Then her world is turned upside down when she catches a suspect who, in the process of confessing, admits to a hit and run years prior, which happened to be her mother. When she begins to investigate, things turn even more bizarre. This is a fast-paced read. Alex has loyal coworkers who help her. Even with all the action, there is not much in the way of profanity.
Very good and original plot – page-turner!
After four chapters of mundane thoughts and conversations I put it down and do not intend to pick it up ever.
It was just not interesting to me.
