Cat’s the best!
Awesome series. It’s a must read. Over and over again.
I love, love, love this book series. The characters are fantastic and the storylines are spellbinding. I have enjoyed each one, this one included and I am looking forward to starting the next book.
At Grave’s End is Book 3 in the Night Huntress series. Reunited lovers Cat and Bones barely have the chance to enjoy themselves before trouble finds them. Steamy urban fantasy with a liberal dose of humor.
Love this series !!!!!!
this is a great series love bones and cat !
Once again, Jeaniene Frost doesn’t disappoint!
This book was a fantastic addition to the series. We get to see more of the same ass kicking good time that is Cat’s job but we get to see a whole lot more. We get to learn more of the ins and outs of the vamp world that Bones is in and what that all means. At Grave’s End gives the reader a better understanding of what it means to be a master of a line. We see a much different side of Bones in this novel and it’s given me an entirely new appreciation for him as a character. I loved him to pieces as it was but this book made me see him a totally new light.
The characters in this book continue to grow exponentially with each installment, this one being no exception. Cat and Bones are still a perfect couple in my eyes. Cat’s team are more and more faithful to her by the day and their view of her as their leader and the dedication that they show is admirable. We also learn more about Bones’s friends in this installment and I have a few favorites now – Charles (Spade – who I already loved because of First Drop of Crimson), Vlad (who is actually getting his own series with the first installment, Once Burned, coming in June), Ian (who I HATED in the last book with good reason) and Rodney. I even have a greater appreciation for Cat’s mom, Justina, because of this book! She was a raging bitch in the previous installments but she takes a turn for the bad ass in this installment. However, I still don’t like Tate. Never have, probably never will. On that note though, I am in comedy heaven with Juan. He kind of reminds me of Barney from the show How I Met Your Mother. Yeah, Barney with a Spanish accent. He’s a dog who regularly thinks with the completely wrong head but he’s hilarious. By the end of this book, he just gets funnier.
I want to warn all you estrogen laden readers out there that At Grave’s End will make you cry. At least twice. I don’t cry easily and when these events happen, I was listening to the audio book at my desk and got so choked up that I had to sneakily wipe my eyes with a napkin so my co-workers wouldn’t think a family member had died. There’s a HORRIBLE event that happens in this book that will wrench your heart out of your chest, stomp it into a million pieces and then try to stuff it back in. It’s awful. Even now it makes me sigh. I assure you though, there’s a reason for every event that happens in a Jeaniene Frost novel. Nothing is without it’s cause and effect.
The Big Bad in this book will also surprise you in this book. He or She (not giving it away because that would be a big spoiler) is RUTHLESS to no end. You will hate him/her. A lot.
I also want to mention the narrator again. I have mentioned her in past reviews for this series but she deserves a world of credit I couldn’t possibly give her. Her name is Tavia Gilbert. She’s AMAZING. Probably the most talented vocal actor I have ever had the pleasure of listening to and I listen to a LOT of audio books. She’s got a different voice/accent for every single character that graces the pages of this book and she never once falters. I love listening to her read the books so much that I have found that I actually prefer the audio book to reading the books myself. I read most of One Foot in the Grave (book 2) as a Kindle book and even then, I would hear Tavia’s characters in my head. She’s wonderful and really deserves some recognition. And my hat is off to the author or publisher (who ever chose her for the reading) because they did the smart thing and have had her read all of the books in this series. She’s so good that after meeting Bones in the Night Huntress World series (which I read before the Night Huntress Series), I knew his voice as soon as the character was introduced in Halfway to the Grave (book 1). She’s just chock full o’ awesomeness and I hope she continues on with this series to the end.
Overall, I give At Grave’s End 5 stars! I don’t know that I have ever given an entire series 5 stars from beginning to end so this may be a first for me. I hope the rest of the books in this series are as good as the first 3 were!
Very good read
At Grave’s End, The 3rd book in the Night Huntress Series, was action packed and full of bombshells. Kidnap, torture, backstabbers, near death, and enemies of old trying to kill you and everyone you love. Just another day in the lives of Bones and Cat! I don’t think I can’t write a review on this book without spoilers, because so many major things happen in it, if I don’t give spoilers there won’t be anything to talk about.
Bones and Cat go through so much in this book. Cat gets kidnapped, tortured, and nearly killed by her vampire father Max. They find out that Max was hired by someone else to kill Cat so they’re off trying to find who wants Cat dead. Mencheres (Bones’s grandsire) joined family lines with Bones and shares his power with him. We meet Dracula in this book. Bones almost dies and everyone thinks he is dead. They find out it’s Mencheres wife Petra who tried to kill Bones and Cat, and she starts a war with them. This book packs so much into it, I mean WOW just WOW!
This book was an emotional one. When Cat was being tortured, it was rough, and when everyone thought Bones was dead. Heart wrenching! I mean I knew he wasn’t dead because I have already read the whole series, but it was still hard to read Cat’s pain. I was glad that Justina grew a little and realized what a close-minded and selfish jerk she was being to her daughter. Don’t get me wrong she is still, pain in the butt Justina , small steps!
Cat was fierce as ever. She hit a ton of bumps in the road in this book, but she stood tall and brave through it all. She had honor in the way she carried herself when she thought Bones was dead. And she kicked butt when vampires in Bones line thought he was dead and challenged her. Bone was so sweet in this book. Bones has such a good heart and tries to make Cat happy. The man is a saint for putting up with Justina and Tate. The fact that he didn’t kill Tate shocks me still. Tate drove me crazy. Tate disrespected Bones ever chance he got. Rubbing his feelings for Cat in Bones’s face. I can say that I 100% loved when Cat stabbed Tate in the heart (as a warning she didn’t twist the blade and kill him ) , when she thought Bones was dead and Tate tried to touch her. When she told that if he touched her again she would kill him , I was like Hell Yeah! Eat crap Tate!
I loved Mencheres, and Vlad so much in this book. My heart bled for Mencheres, he loved his wife Petra, and she didn’t give a crap about him. Vlad was so funny, and OTT. Vlad was just awesome and really stood out in this book.
So much happened in this book that there was never a dull moment. Cat and Bones relationship is tested at every turn and they are standing together stronger than ever. Truly this is one of the best series I have ever read. I love it so much and I recommend it to all that love paranormal romances. If you haven’t read this series, you should totally check it out! At Grave’s End was such a great addition to the series!
This entry into this brilliant series is the first one where it feels like the stakes (no pun) are REALLY high. Has a portion of it that I didn’t think I could survive, but it’s all the better for it when you get past it.
Patra and old flame has come back to wreck havoc and lay her revenge on Cat and Bones. Everyone they love are in danger now. They must band together with enemies and new friends in order to survive. Not everyone will make it out alive or undead. Amazing story. This book brought me to tears.
I love Bones and Cat so much they are my favorite undead couple. They are the perfect match. They have many challenges that they face. I love this series so much. Jeaniene Frost is a master story teller and her books are not to be missed.
Frost’s Night Huntress series is one of my all-time favorites. Love the characters she creates, especially Cat — her female heroines are tough, powerful and well-matched by male characters that are charming, flawed, arrogant and equally ruthless and romantic. Frost packs this series with action and emotions that sweep you from tears to laughter in the turn of a page (or sweep of a finger for Kindle-types like myself).
