Bullets aren’t the only things flying on this mission…When Texas Ranger Nash Sullivan finds himself in a hailstorm of gunfire during a bunker raid, he handles himself—and those around him—with his usual skill and sharp wit. It seems his charm worked its wonders too, because he’s gone from a Ranger to a special ops unit captain overnight. His first assignment—find a man everyone’s believed dead … everyone’s believed dead for the past decade. And he and his Ranger Ops team are going in.
Ten years ago, when Nevaeh Vincent’s brother disappeared on a hiking expedition, her heart was torn out. Now, it’s flayed open once more after her family is questioned again on the matter. She catches wind that the reason behind it is her brother’s been spotted—and a special ops team is going undercover to find him. With that kind of hope, how could she ever stay away?
After Nash finds Nevaeh in a rough Mexican hostel asking all the questions that will get her killed, he has no choice but to take her along and protect her. Problem is her beautiful eyes are a distraction… and he can’t quit thinking about latching onto those plump lips and showing her how to obey his every command. Nevaeh is here to find her brother. So why can’t she ignore the sexy Ranger Ops captain? Could these feelings be real or just aftershocks of her adrenaline-filled journey?

A follow up series to Knight Ops, definitely in for this one. I really like the previous series and military romances, yep, they are right up my alley. I like the dynamic with the company of men working together. I think that can really make a story. I also like the relationship of the main characters. Even though it is kind of love at first sight, it was believable. What I wish the story had more of was the actions taken by the Rangers to subdue the bad guys. I thought it just skimmed over those parts. I love romance but in this type of book I also love the action.

Texas Rangers turn Ranger Ops overnight. Nash relishes in taking the lead of his team of former rangers.
Nash and Neveah have an immediate, intense attraction. I wondered if Nash would be able to focus on the task at hand. There wasn’t a great deal of communication at the beginning. He seemed to either grunt at her, or seem tongue tied. That evened out later in the book.
I really didn’t have a good sense of Neveah’s character, once she became involved with Nash. She seemed like a nice person, but was all wrapped up in Nash and her parents. Before Nash, she seemed a bit hard headed, brash, determined, and strong. After Nash, it seemed to me as if her personality dimmed.
There were a couple of unexpected twists and turns. One in particular I thought would have more detailed information about, especially seeing how injuries resulted from the situation.
A pretty fast paced romance with a little sadness, action and suspense along with a HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from the author via Booksprout.
I was excited the hear that Ms. Petrova had started a new series and this one didn’t disappoint. We are introduced to a whole new group of men who are amazing at their job and take care of the people they love. I also liked the brief mention of her other series Knight Ops. You don’t need to read that series to understand it in this one but if you like this series, you will love that one.
Nash is a man who after a difficult mission is promoted to a newly formed team. He has to figure out the quirks of this new team and learn to function as one. He seems to do a really good job at this. I liked all sides of Nash. He is a controlled and tough man but seems to melt at the sight of Nevaeh. This was the part I liked the most, Nash seems to be a man who sometimes had a temper but other than that he is always in control. He follows the rules and works hard. However, five minutes with Nevaeh and that control slips. He wants her in a way he can’t explain.
Nevaeh is a woman who is merely coasting through life. After her brother goes missing, her family sort of stops living. I admired the balls this woman had to go and try and find him. I also liked that once she realized the danger she had inadvertently put herself in, she listens to reason and followed Nash and the teams directions.
The third element of this book I liked was the “get to know the guys” portion. The conversation in the vehicle of if they can handle their spices and things like that hit my funny bone. I liked being able to see both sides of these men. The hardened soldier who you could trust to get you out of a sticky situation and the men who are giving each other a hard time.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to more in this series.
Nash, recently promoted from Texas Ranger to Captain in Ranger Ops. He and his crew go to Mexico on a mission only to have it flip midstream when Nash recognizes a missing person, Antonio, from 10 years ago. While investigating they run into Antonio’s sister Neaveh asking questions about her missing brother guaranteed to get her in danger. He takes her into their group to keep her safe. They have a wicked attraction to each other that can only complicate things. Lots of action and suspenseful events with a love story on the side. Nicely written and very enjoyable read.

I love this author’s work, she never disappoints. Starting a new series..bonus.. more to look forward to.
Texas Ranger turns Special Ops Captain, hot hero alert. On the trail of a missing person there is drama and action aplenty. Just enough heat and chemistry to lighten the mood. Loved every bit of it.
Exciting, action-packed romance!
Nash is a modern-day knight in shining armor, a man who is fearless when he needs to be, compassionate and tender when he can. Tracking a man who’s been missing for ten years isn’t easy, but having to protect the man’s sister along the way only complicates things further. Nevaeh isn’t going to just sit around while someone else looks for her brother, not if there’s anything she can do to help.
The writing is top-notch, keeping us fully informed about each of the members of the newly-formed Ranger Ops team and how they’re learning to work together to get the job done. I loved the way the author showed how Nevaeh faced the emotional toil of caring for someone who does this kind of work. This is a standalone romance with an HEA that is also the first of a new series that I hope will follow the pattern of the Knight Ops series. These stories are among the very best in modern military hero romances, and I highly recommend them. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Having devoured Em Petrova’s Knight Ops series, a Ranger Ops series was irresistible, and this first book in the series shows that this is a worthy successor. The story of Nash Sullivan, the newly formed Ranger Ops captain, and it’s the story of their first op. Across the border in Mexico on a different mission, Nash sees and recognizes an American who’s been missing for 10 years. The questions that start being asked because of this recognition lead the missing man’s sister, Nevaeh, to try her own mission to Mexico, putting herself in danger. And, of course, Nash and his team intercept her and the sparks between her and Nash are instant. I loved the characters in this new series, and, as always, Petrova has written heat and suspense that leave me wanting more. I can’t wait for the second Ranger Ops book.

This is a solid start to a new series set in the same world as Knight Ops.
We are introduced first to Nash, the hero, and learn how he became leader of a special ops team. Their first mission takes them to Mexico on the trail of an American who disappeared ten years ago.
Then we meet Nevaeh, sister of the missing man, who is also in Mexico looking for him.
The attraction between them is instant, and hot.
The story that follows has action, danger, steam, and humour.
The plot was convincing until near the end of the book when it became somewhat flimsy, and stretched credibility.

At Close Range is the first story of Em Petrova’s brand new series, Ranger Ops. When the story started, I was unsure whether it would live up to the standard of its predecessor, Knight Ops, but I was soon drawn into the seedy world of crime and violence south of the Mexican border, and the men who form this unlikely band of super-secret heroes.
As with Knight Ops, I’m sure each male lead will have his personal demons and be challenged along the way by an irresistible woman; but what will ultimately draw readers in, will be the depth of camaraderie and understanding that is evident from the very beginning between these physically imposing Alpha males.
I thoroughly enjoyed Nash and Naveah’s story, however it was definitely not all hearts and flowers, and there is an element of insta-love. Danger and adversity also play a huge part in their relationship, and there was a heartbreaking tragedy that brought tears to my eyes. So by the time I got to the end of this book, I was totally hooked and confident that as spin-off series go, this one will certainly be well received by readers. Now I have to wait for Woody’s story and that will undeniably test the limits of my patience; patience…….yep not gonna happen!
As a huge fan of author Em Petrova’s Knight Ops series, I was over the moon thrilled to learn that she had started a new series, Ranger Ops. I tore into this book like a bag of Lays potato chips and devoured the entire book in one sitting. The first book in the series, “At Close Range”, lived up to all of my expectations. Newly appointed captain of Ranger Ops, Nash Sullivan leads his team into Mexico with the intention of bringing back a US Citizen that went missing 10 years prior while hiking. Navaeh Vincent is in Mexico seeking answers regarding her missing brothers wearabouts. After hearing her asking questions that are sure to get her killed, Nash must not only locate and rescue their intended target, but protect Navaeh from becoming the next missing person to grace the walls of the Texas Ranger’s office. Can he keep her safe and not give into his desire to make her his?
This book has it all! An Alpha hot male with impecable morals paired up with a strong, sexy, intelligent woman with hair to dye for (pun intended). A fast moving storyline with action and suspense. Sexual chemistry in spades. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series if their characters and storylines are even half as interesting as “At Close Range”. But knowing author Em Petrova’s work, I’m sure that each book will far surpass the previous book in the series. I cannot wait until Book 2 is released!

Nash Sullivan is a Texas ranger.
He’s tactical and a planner.
Nevaeh Vincent is looking for her missing brother in Mexico and it’s Nash to the rescue.
Drama, plenty of heat, suspense and action. Will these two connect once they are out of Mexico?
