One of many of Dame Agatha Christies excellent books!
Typical Christie, wonderful
In the eleventh outing for Miss Marple, she’s staying at Bertram’s Hotel, a place she once visited many, many years before. Priding itself on its traditional décor, service and values, the hotel seems too good to be true for the cynical Miss Marple.
There are train robberies, curious affairs of the heart and personal vendettas all mixed up in a …
So many twists and turns. Great mystery!
I think that many people do not include this book in their list of Christie at her best, but I do. The hotel is described so well, you can envision her there and looking around for her memories of staying there as a child. Even the discussion of “muffins” (what we in America call “English Muffins”) was delicious! I loved it all.
Very pleasant and interesting
I have just started to read Agathe Christie novels and this one is a very good one.
kept me guessing right to the very end.
Agatha is always a good read !!
I loved Miss Marple series since I first read them many years ago. I still enjoy the characters and twist of Ms Christie’s.
It’s a classic. If you have somehow missed this in your Agatha Christie perusing, you should immediately remedy that lack. I can’t say the ending is happy. That’s not too unusual with Christie. But the story is fascinating. The idea of a place being to real to be real is an idea that only Christie could think of. A delight to curl up with.
I just couldn’t get really interested in this one. Didn’t seem to have that much substance to me.
Not the best Christie, but an interesting plot and the wonderful Jane Maple solving the case.
Somewhat boring and old fashioned.
Agatha Christie knows how to write a terrific mystery–this is no exception.
Have loved Agatha Christie since I was a teen. She’s rereadable!
I love Agatha Christie. She knows how to build a plot and keep readers interested.
Not as good as many of Christie’s books are. I felt the ending was lacking finality!
Any book by Agatha Christie is a good book, some are great, some outstanding and unforgettable. This is somewhere between good and great.
Not as much about Miss Marple, but very entertaining.
